Round 2 Results

LOXLEY, Ala. – Louisiana Tech grinded through more than 40 holes from sunup to sundown Saturday at the Steelwood Collegiate, aiming to finish stroke play before inclement weather moves in Sunday at Steelwood Country Club.

LA Tech is currently 14th among a stacked field after shooting 301 (+13) in round one followed by 292 (+4) in round two.  The Bulldogs snuck in 3-5 holes in round three before darkness set in, tallying seven total birdies to finish three under going into tomorrow.

Morton Bailey was the most consistent Bulldog on the day.  The sophomore closed his first round with back-to-back birdies on his last two holes which were both Par 5s to shoot 72 (E).

He then flirted with a bogey-free round, ultimately shooting one under (71).  Add a birdie on the Par 4 No. 13 to start round three and Bailey is at two under through 40 holes, putting him in a tie for 12th on the player leaderboard.

Seth Campbell overcame a shaky start to provide two scores for LA Tech.  After sitting at six over through his first eight holes, the graduate transfer went four under over the last 10 including birdies on his final three holes to shoot 74 (+2).  That momentum carried over to the second round where he matched Bailey’s scoreboard with a 71 (-1).  He is currently tied for 32nd, sitting at Even par for his final round.

Abel Derksen provided the third score for the ‘Dogs in round one with a 74 (+2).  The fourth scorecard came from Isaac Adams who shot 81 (+9).

LA Tech was nine shots better for the second 18 holes, getting a 74 (+2) from Oskari Schuvalow thanks to an eagle on the Par 5 No. 9 and a 76 (+4) by Adams.

Fatigue was not an issue for Derksen either as the Bulldogs birdied three straight holes as part of his shortened round three.  There was also Riley Hnatyshyn who is two under through his four holes in the final round.  The Bulldog, playing as an individual, shot 73 (+1) and 77 (+5) and is tied for 49th along with Derksen.

West Virginia holes a one-stroke lead over Rutgers at 12 under.  Texas A&M is in third at nine under.
