San Antonio High School Football | Sam Houston Ends District Title Drought

San Antonio Sam Houston’s defense pitched a 2nd half shutout as the Hurricanes beat San Antonio Jefferson 27-20 on October 23, 2025 to win their 1st district title since 2015 and end their district title drought. Jefferson was held to 176 yards of total offense.

It was over when: Jefferson drove down the field in the final minute but on 4th down Da’Ron Gardner’s sack ended the drive & a 10-year district title drought.

Game ball goes to: Sam Houston defense. The offense had a tough 2nd half w/a pick-6 & a punt block returned for a TD but the Jefferson offense struggled most of the night.

Stat of the game: 2015: That was the last time Sam Houston won a district title in San Antonio high school football before the game.
