Here I review the Taylormade P770 irons from Aliexpress.
I got them with X-stiff shafts and midsize grips.

Unfortunately, these clubs didn’t live up to their advertisement on AliExpress.

When issues came up, I contacted the seller to tell them the mistakes and the kept on stalling and saying they were contacting their supplier and were waiting on them. I kept on asking and it was the same every time. Eventually they stalled the resolution process enough that it too late for me to dispute the purchase. (*note to everyone! start the actual disputes process rather than just private messaging them).

It was definitely a learning experience, a waste of money and I hope it helps you avoid the same pitfalls!

Hey guys. So on this video I’m reviewing the P770 irons from Tailor Made, but the AliExpress Chinese copy versions. So this did not go well. Um, I’ve actually already sold the Chinese version and I bought a secondhand real version of P770s because I was very annoyed at the Chinese copy. So, um, but anyway, uh, they had a few mistakes, um, unforgivable mistakes, and I had to sell them and get rid of them for a lot cheaper than I bought them. But, you know, they’re they were cheap. I bought them for about $450 in New Zealand dollars. And the original, like, if I wanted to buy them brand new, they’re about $25,000 brand new for a set. So, so I already knew that this is probably too good to be true. Um, however, apparently the mistakes that they made on my one wasn’t a common thing. Anyway, um, I’ll tell you what it is. So, I bought a whole set, iron set. I think it was might have been a four iron to a pitching wedge. Took about a month to arrive. I was really excited. When they arrived, I opened them up and they just look perfect. The heads looked amazing. Um, I must say the it was like a bit frosted over the paint job. So, it was I don’t think it would have lasted would have looked great for long. I think it would have got a few blemishes all over it compared to the originals. Um, the shafts they um I got extra stiff shafts and you know had the all the stickers and it look perfect. Um, I chose um a midsize grip that looked nice and they felt great. I was just like, man, I’ve hit the jackpot here. These are perfect. So, I decided to go and test them out at the um simulator, golf simulator. I was playing GS Pro. I was getting all my distances and I noticed actually I was getting I was actually hitting further with these irons than um my old ones. So, I was like, “This is awesome, man. got like an extra 10 m with all my shots. Um, but then I started to notice that my seven iron was hitting 10 m further than my 6 iron and it was consistent seven iron hitting further than my six iron. I’m like, what is going on here? Um, and then I looked closely. I was looking at the um the lofts on the clubs and I realized that the seven iron was actually the loft of a 6 iron and the loft of the six iron was was the loft of a seven iron. So somehow they’ve actually mixed up the lofts and they’ve put the wrong number on on the bloody iron and um and also because of that they’ve got the wrong length shaft. Um cuz as you know the shaft lengths go down down to a um pitching wedge. So oh man I was so gutted that that just annoyed the heck out of me. And then as I was um testing all the other clubs I started to notice that the 8 iron and the 9 iron were hitting the exact same distance. And I was like no surely not. So, I’ve got, you know, both of the irons next to each other. And, uh, they were the same loft. The 8 IR and the 9 IR were the same loft. Um, and I actually went and bought a protractor. Uh, those measuring little half circle things. And I actually got down on the ground and measured all the lofts and it Yeah. So, it turns out the eight and the nine lofts were the same. And those six and sevens were mixed mixed up. So, man, I was just so gutted. So gutted. And um yeah, decided to sell them. Another thing that I wasn’t sure about though was the the shaft. I wasn’t sure if it was a extra a real extra stiff. Like it had the perfect stickers on there and it looked legit, but I was skeptical. Like it I think it felt a bit flexier than it should have been. Um so it’s probably a stiff or a regular. I’m not sure. Um, yeah. So, that’s pretty much it. Um, I yeah, so I sold them for like, I don’t know, $150 or something for the set. So, so I lost money on that, but I was stoked to find a secondhand version, which I’m really happy with. And yeah, so you got to be careful. You know, if you’re going to be paying a fraction of the price on these um clubs from China, there could be big big errors. Um I’ve heard that some people have had great success with irons from China, but um you are definitely gambling and um you know, if you’re serious about golf, uh I wouldn’t do that. But, you know, if you’re just a person who might play, you know, couple of times a year, it’s not not too much of an issue. So, there’s my review on the P770s. Cheers.

  1. Gonna have my say as I am a small youtuber too (other channels) you should make the thumbnail and title more clickbait because i scrolled past this and was like "ok i wont buy them then" did not have any interest in clicking your video other than to give you feedback on what i saw

  2. I bought my p770’s second hand and have my doubts. The grips feel slightly lower quality than standard, the shafts feel slightly inconsistent flex wise for being “tour”, and the finishes on the heads are super worn and any chrome has almost eaten off. Now this could definitely been from neglect and someone trying to restore them the wrong way, but I will say they feel just fine on the ball and sound about what I would expect them to in impact. Next time I’m buying new… way too many knock offs out there these days especially Taylormade
