Welcome to Good Morning
Football, everybody. Brought to you by Old Trapper beef jerky,
our favorite meat in a bag. As
always. It’s Friday, October 24th. Jamie Erdahl here just in
Los Angeles exclusively in
Hollywood today. Manti Te’o and Isaac Rochelle joining. How are
we doing on a Friday? We’re
great. BJ Friday’s are no longer Brandon Graham has
unretired and gone back to the
Philadelphia Eagles. He came he did the TV thing and now he’s
like Isaac tapped me in. Yeah
I’m here. Listen, I am here for it. You’re locked in. You went
to the game last night. Isaac.
Manti. We missed you. He and I both went, yeah, I know I was
supposed to go, but my son had
a little cold. Oh, no. Daddy had some daddy duties. All
right, that happened. I love my
kids. You know what I’m saying? Yeah, right. Well, that’s been
established here on Gmfb. It’s
a Friday. We got a long highlight. We got games to play.
Mad minutes to do. Lock in
everybody. Let’s go. Come on. Oh, no. Welcome to Good Morning
Football presented by old
trapper. That’s right. Gmfb everybody on a Friday Jamie
Manci and Isaac and Manci. You
know this. You know, we sit here normally and I look at you,
which I do, because you’re such
a dear friend. But there’s oftentimes you look past me, I
do there’s like a human eyes
over his left shoulder normally, which is the version of Kyle
Brandt, Isaac, Rochelle at the
table. Instead. You kind of have one yourself, Isaac,
because you got that lady witch
over there. I’m like, that’s essentially our Kyle Brandt
today. It’s all spooky, though.
The whole thing I walked, I was here last week. None of this
was here. Now we’re back and
I’m excited. I will say this. That witch over there is far
less spooky than Kyle. Yeah.
It’s moving. The amount of pressure that I feel when I
have Zelda on that screen over
there. It’s kind of it’s it’s it’s a little intimidating
because he just kind of looks
over you and makes sure everything is going according
to plan. Our editorial Zelda is
on his way to Tampa Bay right now to interview Baker Mayfield.
You’re going to see that
interaction, I believe, on game day morning on Sunday, and I’m
sure we’ll borrow some of the
content as well. Until then. There was a game last night,
and unfortunately for one of
these teams, we kind of deemed it a get right game. Which
means you guys, the Chargers
passed the test and the Vikings did not Thursday night in LA.
Those are two guys that won a
national championship for Michigan back in 2024. And then
there was the quarterback that
was starting for the Vikings Carson Wentz until Justin
Herbert. This thing was early
deep deep deep in the defensive zone for the Vikings Isaiah
Rodgers James Isaiah Rodgers
pops this one off. And listen very convincing because Rodgers
had himself a game a couple
weeks ago a couple of interceptions. But they say no
go ball moved. Chargers keep
the ball now 14 plays later. And I say that with emphasis
because that is just a long and
dehumanizing drive for the Chargers. That is Oronde
Gadsden, who pops on in for an
eight yard touchdown. Second quarter Chargers still have
this seven nothing lead. Justin
Herbert doing what Kevin O’Connell described him as big
dude, athletic dude. He can
sustain drives kind of dude. And he did just that. Chargers
into the red zone three plays
later. This is Kimani Vidal. Punches one in Chargers go up
14. Nothing but listen. This
one was a big deal because Manti Joe was back. Yes he was
back guys. He was moving the
line of scrimmage and making holes for that man. Kimani
Vidal keeping Justin Herbert
safe all day long. Happy to have him. Justin Herbert,
that’s his guy on the left side
later in the second quarter Carson Wentz. This thing gets
batted. One of those balls goes
up in the air like that. It feels like an eternity. But the
problem is Wentz had to get
this thing to make it an incompletion. But his left arm
which he had been hurting
earlier in October is not throwing. But that thing hurts.
So he’s in pain pretty much for
the rest of the night. Here’s Wentz has time to find Ladd
McConkey over the middle.
That’s good for a first down and then some McConkey is
thrilled because they’re at the
two minute warning now before half moving the ball. 50s to
play. Chargers have this 14
three lead a lay up for McConkey in the back of the end
zone. Ladd McConkey. So
athletic. Great hands. Look at these two celebrating. This is
the anti Aaron Rodgers
touchdown celebration. Don’t touch each other. Just jump
side by side. It’s all good 24
to 3. Here’s Herbert again. But this time that’s Josh Metellus.
Tip ball by Jalen Redmond.
Metellus comes down with it. The reason why this matters not
only because Herbert’s throwing
a couple interceptions so far this season, but the Denver
Broncos have put everybody on
notice after last year’s or last week’s fourth quarter
where it’s like, okay, do the
Vikings have a chance? This is on that same drive okay Vikings
get the ball back Carson Wentz
finds Jordan Addison for a four yard TD. Now it’s just a two
score game until it wasn’t.
Here’s Kimani Vidal Chargers backfield. They’re running back.
Room has been demolished to be
an injury. So the fact that Vidal is having himself a
career night at 23 rushes 117
yards. That was his one touchdown. Justin Herbert eight
plays later finds Trey Harris.
Herbert was just extending plays all night. All night.
There they are again guys. Oh a
good high five. Do it, do it good. Classy. High five 3110.
At this point guys it got
really uncomfortable honestly for the Vikings Carson Wentz
was in visible pain every time
he went to be under center. Max Brosmer, the undrafted
quarterback out of the
University of Minnesota was at the ready. Helmet on. Wentz in
pain. And there we go. We
started the highlight that way. That is the emergency third
quarterback and or your first
round pick for the Vikings from two years ago J.J. McCarthy
tugging on his college coach
Jim Harbaugh, who must have been thrilled with the outing
for the Chargers, 3710. The
Chargers improved to five and three, and the Vikings,
unfortunately, may be going
into parts unknown that we cannot follow them. At three
and four, they have the Lions.
And now the conversation becomes, does J.J. McCarthy get
the start? The next time the
Vikings are out? Ten days from now against the Detroit Lions,
however, we must celebrate the
quarterback that did start for the Chargers in one Justin
Herbert, Mr. Hollywood, Mr.
Cool calm, collected himself. Ain’t no thang when you got a
3710 win over Minnesota. I
thought we had a good plan and guys were dialed in all week of
practice and just went out
there and executed. And you know, I think that’s the most
important thing of going out
and making plays. And, you know, whether it was second or first
down, we did our best to stay
in front of the chains to set ourselves up for good third
downs. Yeah, it was a big win
for us. You know, a big opportunity for us to go
correct some of our mistakes.
And I thought all three phases did that and it was just good
to see a Chargers win today.
It’s a good defense. You know I’ll I’ll start there I’ll say
that’s a very good defense.
They made it tough on us. You know they kind of made us one
dimensional there which makes
it even tougher. So you know that’s on a short week. They
they played better than us
tonight. And I can be better to to help that out Carson Wentz
actually looks like he’s in
good spirits at that press conference because he was in
writhing pain pretty much for
two and a half quarters of that game. Chargers dominated every
facet 3710 the win Isaac. We
were just chuckling in a in a warm hearted manner about
Justin Herbert and his approach
at the podium, but his approach as a quarterback is pretty damn
impressive. Yeah, I mean, I
feel like I was watching him thinking, I want to be like
Justin when I grow up because
everything he does, he’s so chill, like you said. Yeah, but
he’s so cool at the same time.
And the thing about Justin, because I know him, he’s always
the quietest guy in the room.
When you’re around him, you’re like, Is Justin here? Last
night? Was not that everything
he did felt like it was right. But here’s what I want to talk
about. Justin Herbert running
the ball. Yeah, I felt like he was running with a little extra
tenacity. There was a play
where he was second quarter. He was going for a first down to
eventually score and look, I
mean look at these plays. He’s in dog mode. And I feel like
the Chargers were almost at the
point where they were becoming desperate for a win. People
were going to stop talking
about them. This was a must win game. And I felt like he was
running the ball as if he was a
quarterback that was desperate for a win. He has 260 million
reasons to not be running the
ball like he should be. Yelling at Joel every single play.
Protect me, keep me safe. I’m
making a lot of money to sit back here safely. No, Justin
Herbert put the team on his
back. And, you know, like we said, he’s cool, calm and
collected. But last night, I
felt like Justin said, you know, whatever it takes today I’m
going to do. There was there
was a postgame interview on Prime with, I believe it was
Kimani Vidal. Those guys got
him on the headset and I think it was Ryan Fitzpatrick was
messing around and was like,
you know, come on, we don’t get to talk to Justin Herbert a lot.
And there was like an open
chuckle by everybody on the set, like the full blown
acknowledgment that to your
point, you don’t hear from Justin a lot. But when he
speaks in his play, it’s very,
very noisy. It’s very noisy. And he made a lot of noise last
night, being able to do what he
was able to do on the football field, and I hope that he’s
able to continue that because
the Chargers do need that going forward. And you talk about
desperation. I think that’s
what exactly what they need is to play with that desperation,
because they are one of the
better teams in the NFL. And if they can play that way, I think
it will bode well for them in
the long run. I want to talk about Oronde, Gadsden, the guy
the second, the second. Wow.
Now he I think he scored a touchdown last night. He’s been
one of Justin Herbert’s
favorite targets as of late. Now, this is why this is a big
deal to me, because for over
almost 50% of the snaps last night, I think Greg Roman was
able to run the type of offense
that he wanted to run. That’s a multi tight end offense. You
saw 12 personnel, which is one
running back, two tight ends. You saw 2213 personnel when
they ran 22 personnel. I think
that’s the most I’ve seen Scott Matlock all season long play.
He’s our fullback. He’s number
44. He also plays defensive line. Now what does somebody
like Oronde Gadsden do for your
offense? When you go those big personnels it allows you to be
big but then still be a
presence in the pass game. So when they go 13 personnel or 22,
it’s really take one of those
tight ends and treat them as a receiver, which Oronde is. And
so that’s why I think with Iran
being able to do the things he’s been able to do the past
couple of weeks, he just didn’t
do it last night. He did it last week as well. I think that
opens up the playbook even more.
And I think Greg Roman really wants to sit in this place with
the O line, that they have to
be able to run the ball more efficiently, and then when
they’re able to go through
those bigger fronts and bigger personnels, it also helps him
in the pass pro game, because
we know that the offensive line has had so many injuries. To
have those extra tight ends in
there, now you have guys that can block. Now you guys have
guys that can give Justin
Herbert a little bit more time. So I thought that Oronde coming
onto the scene and being able
to do what he did in the pass game allowed Greg Roman to stay
in those multiple tight end
fronts that he likes to stay in. Like our researcher just
emailed me something that I
think you guys will love. Okay, what is it, Gadsden dad, not
the second his father benches
his own son on his fantasy football roster. That’s crazy
because he’s like, no, no, no,
you haven’t been winning me games. And now he’s like,
absolutely popped off over the
last two weeks. It’s a fantastic story. And I quote
from dad, he’s going to ride
the pine. I mean that is ruthless parenting I know. Well
done. Okay. That was a great
find on Friday. On Friday we talk about the fantasy football
section of this thing. And I
remember a few weeks ago we actually spotlighted Oronde
Gadsden on this show and
talking about how he’s somebody to watch. I mean, wow. Yeah. So
just follow the gmfb you’ll
know. You’ll know what to do. It was a good watch for the
Gadsden family, all versions of
them last night. It was really, really painful for anyone that
was a part of the Vikings
family. You know, since we’re in LA, I was going to do like a
vibe check amongst everyone.
The vibes were not great almost immediately for the Minnesota
Vikings, and I feel like it
happened with that review of Isaiah Rodgers pick. Like, that
thing could have immediately
gone up a touchdown. The offense wouldn’t have had to do
anything just yet. But Isaac,
this thing was really painful to watch. What do you is it too
obvious to say man, we just
attribute it to Carson Wentz’s inability to get the ball out
of his hands. Yeah, I feel like
with this game there’s so many things to talk about. First off,
just real quick, is it too
early in the show to talk about J.J. McCarthy? Because, no, the
question of is J.J. McCarthy
going to be the quarterback for them is wild to me. I mean, I
like Carson Wentz. I played
with him. He’s he’s a cool guy person. Which team were you on
a team with Carson Wentz Colts
okay I was with him in the Colts. And you know I just
think this is a no brainer.
They have ten days until their next game. They made this big
scene about we want J.J.
McCarthy to be prepared. We don’t want to put him in in a
short week and have him in a
bad situation. This team cannot wait for J.J. McCarthy to come
back. In fact, his interaction
with Harbaugh with the big smile. Yes, he was happy to see
his coach. I think he’s ready
for opportunity, so I’m excited to see him play. The other side
of this is just I feel so bad
for Carson Wentz. I mean, having played with him and the
career that he’s had, the ebbs
and flows, you kind of want to see him win. You know when he
was playing well with the
Vikings early in or when he had a couple chances. You’re like
okay I like this I like Carson
doing this now. It’s just tough. Also just for Vikings fans
Jamie that includes you. Thank
you. I feel like this has just been such a letdown. This
offseason was packed with huge
moves. They brought in Ryan Kelly, Will fries. They built
up this D-line Isaiah Rodgers
we just talked about. And then here we are with the Vikings
team that has a huge question
mark. I told you this yesterday. I was with Emma Kelly, Ryan
Kelly’s wife. Yesterday my wife
was interviewing her and she was talking about how excited
she was in the offseason, how
big of a move this was for her family. They had so much
optimism, and it’s just been
kind of like almost felt like a swing and a miss in general for
this team. But yeah, no doubt
J.J. McCarthy is going to hopefully bring them some life
moving forward. Yeah, listen,
it’s seven games in, so let’s just there’s still a lot of
football to play. So I’m hoping
that they do turn it around. But this is what I took from
the Minnesota Vikings. It was
hard for me to watch Carson Wentz. Wentz wins every single
time he came off the field. It
got to a point. I was like take the guy out. Like why is he
still in the game? And then as
a former player I see this happen in the second quarter
when Justin Jefferson gets
knocked out of bounds. And the quarterback that you invested
so much in is on the on the
sideline jumping, rolling around points, having ankle
looks good to me guys. It looks
good to me. Meanwhile Carson Wentz is out there looking like
his his his non-throwing arm is
about to fall off. And so for for a a former player if I had
to look at it as a teammate if
that was my teammate again I don’t know what’s going on over
there. But JJ McCarthy looks
healthy to me. He looks healthier than Carson Wentz
looked last night. So I know he
was the emergency quarterback. But at a certain point it’s
like I don’t know what led up
to the decision to play Carson in that time frame, but if I
looked at the two quarterbacks,
I was looking at a quarterback that could jump around,
celebrate first downs. I’d
rather him jump around and celebrate first downs after
throwing them than doing that
after trying to avoid a player getting hit out of bounds. So
that’s what the thing was a
little confusing to me. The loss was so frustrating. You
enter into territory of like
conspiracy theory times, which is like, why did they make this
decision? Is it if he was
healthy for this game, then you start to back it up. Wouldn’t
have he been healthy four days
ago? So it’s the two games in a five day stretch now. You got
ten days to prepare for the
Detroit Lions. The inevitability that we will see
JJ McCarthy, who has never put
on IR, feels quite powerful, but it was really hard to watch.
And then you have Max Brosmer.
There was a shot of him last night. Who is the backup
quarterback to Carson Wentz
standing there. And the look of hopefulness that he had when he
thought he was going to go in
versus when he did not. It’s not great in the mentions for
the Vikings fans this morning.
Yeah. And I wonder Manti as a player because at the end of
this game Carson Wentz was
totally beat up. I mean his head’s back just like defeated
at the end of the game. What do
you think that does to a roster. Because when I see that when
I’m a player, like if I was on
his team as I was with the Colts and I saw that I would be
frustrated, it’s deflating. I’m
just curious how you would have felt, well, if I’m Justin
Jefferson, I’m mad at Justin
Jefferson. It was his frustration was for sure
documented. Yes, if I’m Justin
Jefferson, I’m mad. And I have. I think last night just made me
appreciate Justin Jefferson
even more, because you talk about a guy who’s been throwing
the ball by so many different
quarterbacks, yet he I think he had one of the most major
accomplishments last night. I
can’t remember. He’s like the fastest to accomplish something
8000 yards, 8000 yards passing
Julio Jones who did an 85 game Justin did it in 84 games. And
this is a guy that’s had like 4
to 5. Yeah. Quarterbacks right. And he’s consistently there’s
there’s receivers that have far
more opportunities and have far more capable systems that have
catered to them that are
throwing fits on the sideline where you don’t see that with
Justin, you don’t see when he’s
overthrowing or underthrown him throwing his hands up, he runs
back to the huddle, jogs back,
gets ready, runs back out and does like congrats. Like not
congratulations. But respects
to Justin Jefferson. One of the best to ever do it the way that
he holds himself. So I just
felt for Justin Jefferson out there running around like he
was just doing cardio for the
past few weeks. 27 point win for the Chargers. It’s the
second largest win for Harbaugh
and his tenure in the second worst loss by Kevin O’Connell.
So we’ll see what this means
for trajectory for both of these teams. Tom Pelissero.
Welcome in to Good Morning
Football. Our NFL network insider with us. The Chargers
look great. And they absolutely
stifled a Vikings offense. However that does not come
without injury. Concern for one
of their if not the defensive star for the Chargers. What’s
going on with Derwin James.
That’s right Jamie Derwin James suffered an ankle injury in the
game last night. Was not able
to return, though. He was spotted on the sideline in a
walking boot. Jim Harbaugh did
not offer any type of a substantive update on James
status after the game. Remember
they played Thursday night so they got a longer week ten
weeks before their next game
next Sunday against the Titans. In other news, the Jets have
yet to name a starting
quarterback for their game on Sunday against the Bengals,
despite their owner Woody
Johnson, offering up his thoughts in the early portion
of the week. Tyrod Taylor and
Justin Fields have also said they haven’t been told who is
starting in this game.
Certainly an unusual way to approach things, but there have
been a lot of unusual things so
far this season for the Jets worth mentioning. Tyrod Taylor
limited the past two days in
practice because of a knee injury. Potentially some
answers as soon as today. A lot
of not so good news, but I know that you have some positive
news about some other
quarterback that could be playing this week in purple or
black. That’s right. Lamar
Jackson has been on the practice field the past two
days, listed as limited on the
injury report. But John Harbaugh head said going back
to before thereby that he
expected Lamar would be back this week. The fact that he is
on the field would certainly
suggest that the team has not confirmed it, that he is going
to be the starter on Sunday
against the bears. Final injury report for Baltimore Lands
today. The commanders already
know they will not have Jayden Daniels next Monday night at
Kansas City. Dan Quinn
confirming what we had reported earlier in the week. Jayden
Daniels is out for that game
because of the hamstring injury that he suffered in Dallas.
This is nothing Long-Term for
Jayden Daniels. It is a low grade hamstring injury, but
they want his full focus this
week on rehabbing, not trying to get himself ready to play in
the games. Will be Marcus
Mariota trying to help the commanders get a much needed
win against the Chiefs guys.
All right Tom thank you so much Kyle was saying like I don’t
want to see Mariota in that
game. I want to see Jayden Daniels. Unfortunately we don’t
get that matchup on Monday
Night Football. Moving on on Gmfb we got a player to talk to.
Plus Giants rookie quarterback
Jaxson Dart gearing up to play the Eagles for the second time
in three weeks. Welcome to the
NFL, my friend. Will he and the G-Men get back into the win
column after the devastating
loss that they suffered just in the fourth quarter alone to the
Denver Broncos. You know, that
person you talked about? We’re going to talk to Jamie. It’s
none other than the Bengals
running back Chase Brown. We’re going to talk to him about his
outstanding performance in last
week’s win, his quarterback Joe Flacco, and even talk a little
bit of fashion with him next on
Gmfb on Aloha Friday. He’s got a double sleeve there. Oh let’s
go to bed it up presented by
old trapper beef jerky. Learn e early warning signs
at ten signs. Flacco extends
the ball. Brown up the middle of the field to the 30. Racing
to the 35. To the 40. Far
sideline 45 5045. And finally tackled at the Pittsburgh 39
yard line. Cameron Heyward
running down the field along with Patrick Queen. That’s a 37
yard run on the first play of
the drive for Chase Brown. Last week’s Thursday night game was
billed as the Icy Hot Bowl
because both quarterbacks were really old. But that doesn’t
matter if you have really young
running backs that you get to rely on. Chase Brown joining
the show from the Cincinnati
Bengals. What’s up everybody. Hey Chase congrats on such a
game last week a season high
108 rushing yards. We understand the whole concept of
moving on to the next game, but
can we please just bask in what you guys were able to
accomplish last week against a
division rival? How’d that game feel for you? Especially coming
on a short week when you know
how badly a team needs to rely on a run game? I mean, it felt
great to get a win. It was huge
for us. Thursday night. Game under the lights, able to go
out there and have some space
to make some plays. So that was kind of the highlight of it.
And yeah, no it just it and on
a short week too, it’s just like there’s so much that goes
on. Like we were traveling back
from green Bay and you know, you’re barely able to really
get your body back. But, you
know, Thursday comes around able to go out there and play.
So it felt good to get that win.
Were you talking about a short week, Chase. You’re also
talking about a quarterback
that had a short amount of time to prepare for two games. How
impressed were you that
somebody like Joe Flacco could come into this situation? And
in the span of nine games, nine
days, put on the performance he did last week extremely
impressed. I mean, the first
day he came in, his ability to just recite the plays in the
huddle was crazy. Like, I don’t
even know how he was doing it and then how he was able to go
out there against green Bay and
just operate was even more impressive. And then to turn
that over into a short week and
then play on Thursday and play it the way he the way he did,
was even more impressive. He
got the ball out really quick. You know, got it to, you know,
spreading the ball to all our
playmakers. And I feel like it really opened up our offense in
a way. Like you know you get t
going you get Jamar going. Opens up the run game a little
bit. And then you know you kind
of see this unstoppable offense that we were all expecting this
season. Chase speaking of Joe
Flacco you’re wise season I’m thinking of a lot of ways to
say old without saying old Joe
Flacco, you’re a seasoned quarterback. He made some
interesting comments about
eating alone. You know, being the guy at the bar Jamaar Chase
waiting on it. Let’s take a
listen to it. And I want to hear your opinions on it. I
tell people all the time, I
mean, I used to see guys sitting at a bar by themselves
or, you know, just sitting by
themselves, eating and grabbing a little meal. And I’m like,
man, I feel so bad for that guy.
You almost want to go join him. And now I realize, like, that
dude was in heaven. Have you
gone to a restaurant by yourself and just been able to
take a breath by myself? Yeah.
You had that phase of life. Of course not. Okay. If you. I
would never go eat by myself.
Why not? I could do that at home. Oh, man. That’s funny.
Why would you eat by yourself?
It depends if I’m in an airport, maybe. But probably not. I’d be
with my boys or something.
Might have an old soul. You would do it? An old soul when
I’m on the road. But if I’m. If
I’m in the city or, you know, back home, I’m always with my
boys or, you know, my family.
Yeah. As as a mom, I’d like to say if I can get a meal by
myself and not have to juggle
children, sign me up for that. Chase, look at your schedule.
You guys have jets. Baltimore
and Miami. On paper, these teams don’t have a lot of
winning records. It’s actually
the. Excuse me, you have a very easy record going forward. Just
how confident are you guys that,
you know we’re only halfway through the season. Maybe there
is postseason in your future.
Yeah, I mean, we prepare every single day as if we’re going to
go get that Super Bowl. So
those postseason dreams are real inside the locker room
inside the building. So there’s
always going to be belief there as far as the Jets. Like
they’re going to come out here
and play hard. So we’re treating them just like any
other opponent. We’re not going
to take them lightly and should be a good matchup this Sunday.
Chase when I introduced you,
you know, I did not say new friend of the show because you
are an old friend of the show.
When you and your twin brother Sydney showed up before the
draft and you guys had an
incredible weekend as a family, and now you both embark on your
NFL career, you two as twins.
Though the last time you were on Gmfb, you had a take with
our former co-host and fellow
twin, Jason McCourty, about what it’s like to feel truly
competitive with your brother.
Let’s take a listen. We’re genetically identical, so as
soon as he does something
better than me, I’m like, man, I know I can do that. So. But
have there been full blown
arguments between you two full blown arguments when you come
to the, of course, everything.
Everything. If it’s the littlest stuff, like I was
saying yesterday, if it’s to
get to the fridge anything man. Like it’s it’s a competition.
Everything. That’s what it is,
you know. Okay. So what’s the thing that you two have
competed recently and I know
you’re playing in two different cities, but is it like, oh, I
called mom the most or. Oh, I
ate by myself the most times. Like, what are you guys
competing on by myself? No, not
anything like that anymore. We kind of honestly, now we we
just we just share our
experiences. We talk every single day. So it’s kind of
just like, oh, how was practice?
Who has and who stays longest. You doing tonight? Pretty much
yeah. We talk about stuff like
that. But it’s really not a competition. It’s just like,
you know, now that we’re living
apart, we’re just trying to keep up with each other. But
Chase, you said you talked to
your brother every single day. And knowing the preseason this
year, your brother tackled you
in one of the preseason games. What were those conversations
like leading up to that game,
and was there any type of smack talk after that play happened?
Honestly, I don’t even think I
said a word to him what we were playing. It was kind of weird
though, so it was hard for me
to like, stay focused because as I’m going to the huddle, I
just see I see him like kind of
just hovering and his spot. I’m like, man, there he is right
there. Twin brother grew up
with that guy. But it was fun. It was fun. He always talks
about, you know, the energy and
link, and I always wanted to play there at some point. So it
was cool being able to kind of
check that off in the preseason and, you know, do a little
jersey swap with him and
everything. So it’s a good experience. All right. Last
question for you. Chase a
couple years into you and Sidney playing in the NFL.
How’s your mom doing with all
this. She has her blood pressure come down. Or is she
just like, high stakes, high
stress all the time? I’d say it’s high stakes. High stress.
She’s always worried about us.
She’s always talking about, oh, don’t get injured. Stay safe.
Like, please. So, you know,
she’s just being a mom and she’s always going to be
worried about us. Well, it’s
understood, Chase. We love having you on. Good luck this
weekend against the Jets. And I
guess I’m going to mom you when I say or any player that comes
on. Stay safe. Stay healthy. We
wish you the best. Okay. We’ll talk to you again the next time.
We got to check in with the
Bengals, bud. Yep. Congrats, bro. You keep scoring
touchdowns. I need it, please.
Career high last Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers
108 yards. What damage will he
do against the Jets. We shall see on Sunday. Chase Brown
everybody in the Cincinnati
Bengals. Let’s go look at it man. Go. I still get
butterflies to this day I just
sit there take a deep breath. day morning Sunday at 9:00 on
NFL network. Hasn’t exactly
been clean play from their part. When we play them, it’s a
physical game. It is what it is.
You expect it. Division rival. Yeah. Not much else to say
besides the fact that I don’t
like them. I like a perturbed Baker Mayfield, you know, like
I think he’s just in a bad mood
ever since that game against the Lions last week. Now the
Bucs have to play. It’s true
the Saints. He’s cranky. He’s kind of looks hungry. It’s what
I look like if I don’t have
breakfast before. Good morning football. It’s time for Mad
Minute 20s each on the clock.
There’s no Kyle Brandt to take over the entire minute. Tag,
tag. You’re in. Oh, yeah. We
can actually do pass the ball perfectly at the table today.
We’re going to start with that
game right there. Isaac. Rochelle I think you’re up
first. Mad minute Bucs Saints
Bucs coming off that loss that I mentioned. Just kidding I
lied to you Manti I’ll go first.
Okay. So there are a lot of trade rumors about my boy Alvin
Kamara. But with the the season
ending injury to Kendre Miller I think that we just keep him
there. I love this fact that
we’re talking about saints I said I was going to talk about
the Saints I got I know Baker
doesn’t like the saints I love the saints. Who that I’ll do
what Kyle would have done if he
heard you lead that conversation with the Saints.
It’s. We got to talk.
Buccaneers okay. They are. They are a team that is full blown
in a hosting a postseason game
in January. Conversation. What happened to Baker Mayfield on
Monday night was that a Baker
Mayfield issue. Was that a Lions defense positive
situation? I can’t quite tell.
He was definitely being chanted. Those three letters that we do
not talk about here on Gmfb, at
least until Christmas. He’s playing great. However, there’s
injuries to his wide receivers.
How good can he actually be? Bucs? I believe this to be a
get right game, especially if
you’re dealing with a off Baker Mayfield. We love it. I have
one quick question because
you’re a Saints guy. We heard it on Wednesday. Who’s coming
back first Derek Carr or Manti
Te’o out of hot take for sure I’m done. And I’m not BG I
ain’t coming out of retirement.
I’m done. I love my job. Saints need some. Saints need a life
raft. They need like three life
rafts. One of them has manti in it. No, no. Just saying, just
saying. We haven’t talked about
the bills in a while and it’s because they’re coming off
their bye week. They’re they’re
going to Carolina, which I think kind of love this game
because the Panthers have been
really good at home. Not only are they on a three game win
streak, Isaac, they are
unbeaten in Carolina. What do you want to see out of this one?
Yeah I mean I think this has
happened many times. We had the Eagles. We stopped talking
about them randomly because
they lost two games. The bills. They’ve just exited the group
chat for no reason. This bills
team is still phenomenal. I’m excited for them now. Like we
saw Herbert a little
desperation game. Let’s see our boy Josh Allen get after it and
take over. Josh Allen has never
lost three straight in his career and I. And unfortunately
for the Panthers some of this
juice who knows. It comes directly at the hands of Bryce
Young. But he’s hurt. So Andy
Dalton gets the start for the Panthers. Who else is going to
lift up the Panthers is really
fun to watch this team. But the bills I don’t really want to
see the panic in Western New
York if this thing doesn’t go well. Well, Isaac, you said
that it seems like the bills
exited the chat and they could have exited the chat because
the Carolina Panthers entered
it. I think when you’re looking at the Carolina Panthers and
what they do very well, they
run the ball extremely well. Odoardo, I know that Chuba
Hubbard came back last week and
they had to split the carries there. But you’re looking at a
Buffalo Bills defense that
struggles against the run against the run. So if they can
continue if they the Carolina
Panthers can continue to run the ball I think they should
see some success. This sneaky
connective tissue in this matchup. Sean McDermott,
longtime defensive coordinator
for the Panthers before he became the head coach for the
bills. So fun for him, maybe to
show up back in Carolina. Fun for bears fans recently, they
could be en route to their five
game win streak, which would be incredible because it would be
their first one since 2018. We
haven’t seen it in a while. We also haven’t seen Lamar Jackson
in a while. So what do you
think about the Ravens turning things around this weekend?
Yeah, I’m excited to see Lamar
Jackson back. I will say that I did equate the Chicago Bears to
a buffet line and the buffet
line, and if you didn’t hear that, take you as you go to the
buffet for the first round and
you kind of try everything and then the second, third, fourth
round, you know exactly what
you like. That’s what I think the bears are doing as of late.
The defense leads the league in
turnovers DeAndre DeAndre Swift had a heck of a day for the
past few weeks. So I think what
the bears have working over there has been working. Thank
you for posting positive about
the bears. I’ll pick up for the Ravens. This is an
uncomfortable place for us to
be with Baltimore and John Harbaugh in particular. Now,
while Harbaugh is excellent
eight and one coming off of a bye, we don’t even if they win
this game against the bears and
halt them in their tracks. I think there are so many issues
going on with the Ravens. I
need more than a one week turnaround sample size to trust
the fact that Baltimore is
going to figure it out. Well, look, that being said, some
teams have the formula in place
and they just need to solve it. They have the formula in place.
I’m not a math guy. So that may
not make sense. Yeah, the Ravens have everything in place
to be a phenomenal football
team. You know 1 in 5 I don’t think is a representation of
who they are. We got Lamar
coming back. I’m excited for him. I see what happened to you
last weekend. I’m so sorry. I’m
really jumping into your time. I’m long winded on Mad Minute.
This is why I’m normally not
allowed to play. Jamie. I’m all in on you. You are, I don’t
care. Yeah, I’m looking at the
clock as like, it’s 1211. Okay. All right. Browns head to
Patriots. We’ll play it this
way. The Patriots have won four have won their last four games
Isaac Patriots. Can they keep
it going against the Browns. Absolutely. And here’s why I
love the Patriots so much.
Vrabel. Vrabel brings such a culture to the football team
that I think sometimes people
overlook. And they brought in Spillane. I’m a guy the
Patriots linebacker. Between
those two, I’m all in on this team and I’m excited to see him
continue to compete. Go manthei
oh my turn. Okay, so I’ll talk about I’ll talk about the
Patriots as well. I think
they’re they’re a team that has really benefited from somebody
like Mike Vrabel. If you look
at their point differential from last year they were
negative around negative seven.
This year it’s plus seven. That’s a 14 point differential.
The only team that has a bigger
point differential is the Colts at 16. So that just goes to
show like in
Browns have competed with Dillon Gabriel as their
starting quarterback. But are
we are we fully ready to commit to this guy, their rookie
quarterback, as the
conversation starter at that position for the rest of the
season? I’m not going to say
the name of the backup quarterback because it gets
really contentious with people,
but I’m just saying what’s going on with the Browns, and
I’m not going to leave the
segment without saying his name because he’s been playing
awesome. Yes. Next up, looks
like we’re going to see Brock Purdy. After several weeks of
the Mac Jones experience with
the San Francisco 40 Niners. Niners on the road to take on a
limping Houston Texans team,
can the Texans bounce back against the Niners? Man, I
don’t think so. I don’t think
it can bounce back. I think the confidence at which the Niners
are playing right now and
before Mac Jones makes this exit, I think everybody should
tip their cap to him totally.
He was able to do for the past few weeks with Brock Purdy
being out, I think is nothing
short of incredible. That whole entire San Francisco 40 Niners
team with all the injuries that
they’ve they’ve that have happened for them, they’ve
still found ways to win. So
shout out to the Niners. It’s return to your previous job
week. Demeco Ryans longtime
defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 40 Niners worked
for Kyle Shanahan. So the fact
that these two, for the first time ever, are going tete a
tete in a game plan will be
really fun to watch. Texans have looked weird. Shout out to
the 40 Niners decimated with
injury. But they have been playing great. They have been.
They survived the down to
football phrase. They did what they needed to do. Yeah.
Survived the down. They got to
where they needed to be at this point in the season. We’re
excited for Brock Purdy. But we
do have to tip our hat to Mac Jones early. Way too early
prediction I think Mac Jones is
going to go on a you know Sam Darnold Baker Mayfield Geno
Smith pre Raiders type
trajectory I’m excited for him. Yeah I think the resurgence is
here for him in the chair in
the game of resurgent quarterback musical chairs
Carson Wentz probably the one
man out on that. Everybody else has find a seat comfortably on
bouncing back. And it just
didn’t happen and work out you know just like he caught us.
Reality Viking it’s a reality
check. You know it’s like such a good feeling when it happens
for those guys. And it did not
happen for Wentz. But that’s all right I’m sure JJ
McCarthy’s coming back. Moving
on. A conversation that we must have in the AFC South is the
fact that the don’t look at
them. Colts are at six and one. The Titans are at one and six
Isaac how do you feel about
your former Colts team right now I love Daniel Jones. I just
wanted to declare this. I have
been saying it since literally pre week one that Daniel Jones
is the truth. I like it for
football. I like what he’s doing in his football team and
I’m tired of all the Colts
slander. Let’s stop questioning who they are and who they’re
going to become. The Colts are
the real deal. You’re still deeming it slander or is it
doubt at this point? Your what
is it? I heard Mike G go when he was on here. Say who? We
still got to figure out who the
Colts are. No we don’t. What is six and one in the NFL when
it’s really hard to win. Like
what else do you need to do in the NFL? I’m done. Somebody
else go all in on the Colts. Me
too. I’m all in on the Colts too. They’re my I think this is
great for them. We’re going to
be talking about them seven and one on Monday and clip it off.
Titans. If you beat them then
that’s fine. Here’s your fodder social media team
congratulations. Yeah I think
if there are any questions about it last week really
should have answered all those
questions. What they’re able to do against a Chargers team that
did what they did last night to
the Minnesota Vikings. It just goes to show that the
Indianapolis Colts are for real.
It could get ugly guys on Sunday with a team that just
fired their head coach. It
could. Jonathan Taylor has been playing great as well. That
tomato was that play that one
more time audio booth. That was like a tomato against like a
doorstop spring or something
like that. That was mad minute. We’ve got a game to play here
on Gmfb. I think that’s
happening this hour. We’re it’s tight. It’s a holiday this
weekend in the NFL. Which one
is it? Are you decorating your tree? Are you getting ready for
Halloween? Do you have a
cornucopia out? Nay it’s yeah people do that this early in
the season. It’s National Tight
Ends day this weekend. We got to talk about it next on Gmfb.
No I keep saying we have a game
to play and it’s next hour. I’m very excited for Thanksgiving
guys. All right, so while I’m
gone, you’ll feed Rosie blue Chase me. Chase all of it. It’s
all up for grabs now. NFL flag
chase something. We’ve got pumpkins in studio. This is
good morning football,
everybody. Presented by old trapper beef jerky. Friday,
October 24th. One week from
today, we will be dressing up in this studio with, I don’t
know, football adjacent
costumes. Stay tuned for that. Yes, Jamie Erdahl, Manti Te’o,
Isaac Rochelle here for Gmfb on
a Friday. Isaac, you got your costume all planned out for
life, like in the in the real
world. I’m dressing up as Manti. Nice. No, I’m dressing up as
manti. Only manti for the rest
of my life. Does that mean that you already got a Te’o stitch
jersey from Notre Dame? Yeah,
they actually sent me care packages every year. I don’t
know if you’ve gotten one, but
I have. Wow, that’s so generous of you, Notre Dame. Listen,
there was a game last night. It
happened just across the street from us. A couple of us went.
We saw it firsthand, and then
some of us left early because traffic is really tough in LA.
Let’s see the highlight here on
Gmfb. Come on. Oh no. Welcome to Good Morning Football
presented by Old Trapper.
That’s right. Gmfb on a Friday Jamie Manci and Isaac Kyle
Brandt Kyle Brandt, you know
what the beautiful thing about Kyle not being here is that you
can kind of just say what you
want about his life and how he operates here on Gmfb and like,
he can’t have a comeback. He
can’t defend himself. He can’t be like the all seeing wizard
over there in that screen
normally. So something about Kyle Brandt as he is on his way
to Tampa Bay to interview Baker
Mayfield and talk about all things Baker, is that, gosh
darn it, that guy always seems
to find that one flight that happens right in the middle of
Gmfb. It’s a veteran move. We
call it veteran veteran move. Right, right, right. Bravo,
Kyle. Bravo. Normally I would
say hi, hello, I would say our names and then he would take
over the highlight.
Unfortunately for you, this is a four page experience of what
happened with Vikings Chargers
last night. Here is more of Jamie Erdahl voice J.J.
McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh.
Jamie, thank you so much. They won a national championship
together, Go Blue with Michigan.
Then they moved on to the NFL and J.J. hurt he was the
emergency third. So Carson
Wentz was in. But this was all Justin Herbert all day coming
into this game Justin Herbert
led the NFL in passing yards. That one was not completed to
Isaiah Rodgers. He thought he
had a pick six. The Vikings did as well. Harbaugh said.
Absolutely not. NFL took a long
look at it. And that bobbled ball meant that it went back
into the hands of Herbert.
Chargers retained the possession. Take the six off
the board for the Vikings. And
frankly 14 plays later put the six on the board for the
Chargers. That is Oronde
Gadsden eight yard TD. Gadsden second straight week with a
touchdown. The fifth round pick
out of Syracuse finding his way into the corner pocket. Second
quarter now Justin Herbert long
extended. Give him some time. Use his arms. Use his feet. Get
out of bounds. Stay healthy.
Stay safe. Sets the Chargers up for a Kimani Vidal end zone
punch in Chargers take a 14
zero lead on this. Now this is great because it’s always
helpful to get the run game
going, but also because Joe Ault, in returning from injury
after missing three weeks with
an ankle sprain, he is happy celebrating. Harbaugh is like,
that’s my guy. Run it up the
left side. Later in the second quarter. Carson Wentz this
unfortunately four minutes left
in the second quarter. Wentz is in pain. We keep doing that.
The Freudian the Freudian slip
of Wentz. And Wentz has happened several times already
on Gmfb. And he just looked
like that all night long. And he stayed out there. Tried to
manage the Vikings offense but
it didn’t go well. Here’s here’s Herbert again. He has so
much time to find Ladd McConkey
up the middle 16 yard big time pickup McConkey loves it. This
thing this business was handled
right before the two minute warning, which means the
Chargers had a little break in
the action. And you go right back to the goods. All right
that is Ladd McConkey Ladd
McConkey from Isaac Rochelle. We don’t like pop quizzes on
this show. Georgia you are a
Georgia boy. Come on. We always talk about this. Oh I grew up a
farm on a farm in Georgia. Come
on. You gotta at least know your in-state product Notre
Dame. Jalen sorry, Ladd. No,
you don’t have a single pop quiz at Notre Dame. Isaac.
Rochelle no, no, just on Gmfb.
That was Herbert. He got picked off by Josh Metellus. And you
think this would go well for
the Vikings, which it did for like 90s? Because this is
Jordan Addison in the back of
the end zone. Cool for Addison. However Mantha you brought up
this point recently, Justin
Jefferson still hasn’t found the end zone since he found the
end zone since week one. So
that was Addison two score game at this point for the Chargers,
which felt like because of what
the Broncos did last week, the Vikings still had a chance. But
emotionally, they really did it
because that man is quarterbacking the Chargers.
Justin Herbert looks spry. He
looked athletic. He looked like he could extend any play that
he wanted. That one connected
with Trey Harris. And I can’t get over the way that Joe Ault
and Justin Herbert celebrate
together. Chargers go up 3110 and then Carson Wentz finally
looking for Justin Jefferson
sails it into the hands of RJ Mickens who returns this thing.
Sometimes throwing your helmet
is in celebration. Sometimes it’s in frustration. Those were
two Vikings players in Justin
Jefferson and Carson Wentz. That was the bad kind of helmet
toss. And those two hug it out
JJ McCarthy happy to see his college coach. Will Vikings
fans be happy to see JJ in ten
days return to the quarterbacking position?
Unfortunately for him, it would
be against the Detroit Lions in Detroit Chargers move on. It
was a weird couple of weeks for
them, but they get right before they get out of the month of
October 30th 7 to 10, the final
all at the hands of a three touchdown day for Justin
Herbert. Take it away. Really
pleased with the way the team responded. You know, the way
they the way they played. And
it was it’s just together and it needed to be. And you know
something we something we keep
building on. You know it’s not not perfect yet but you know
just keep, keep keep chipping
away at it. But really thought our team did a great job
tonight. We got outplayed. We
got outcoached. We we did not. There are no excuses. I did not
have our team prepared to play.
And we’ll go back to many aspects of what we need to
improve on. If JJ is healthy,
JJ will play. That’s been the case since the injury. I
believe we’re right. You know
we’re right. You know hopefully around the corner from seeing
him be healthy. Have a week of
preparation and go compete. We have a long time to talk about
whatever happened to the
Vikings last night, what they’re going to do at the
quarterback position. But let’s
spin this thing positive, as we always do here on Gmfb Justin
Herbert and the Chargers Isaac
Rochelle look great. You’ve been around this team a lot.
You played for them. You’re
working the local broadcast. So when you watch this thing
unfold last night with your
naked eye must look pretty good. I’m excited about it. But I
have a pop quiz for you. Who is
the NFL passing leader? This is easy. Well, Herbert was coming
into the game as he still
Herbert. Well, they’re the only team that’s played. So yes.
Here’s the thing. Why is
Herbert dominating in running so much. Because he’s a dog.
The only thing that I want to
talk about right now, other than how great the Chargers are
playing, is Herbert running the
ball? I mean this guy was diving for first downs. This
guy is like doing whatever it
takes to help his team. And I said it earlier, he has 260
million reasons to sit
comfortably in the pocket, have a Coke, relax and throw the
ball to Ladd McConkey from
Georgia. But instead he’s he’s going and putting his neck on
the line and I love to see it.
And we said it like this is this was almost a desperate
situation for the Chargers
because if they lose everybody’s like the Chargers
are out. The Chargers season is
over. No Herbert said. Go ahead and put the team on my back I
got this. I love to see the way
that he was running the ball yesterday. Yeah, he’s always
looked good. He’s leading the
league in passing for a reason and that’s because of the the
things that they were able to
do last night with Oronde Gadsden, I think Oronde Gadsden,
coming onto the scene in the
pass game has really allowed Greg, Greg Roman, the offensive
coordinator, to run the type of
offense that he wants to run, and that’s a multiple tight end
type of approach. Last night
they ran a multiple tight end personnel almost 50% of the
time. And what does that do for
a team like the Chargers? Well we know that the Chargers have
struggled a little bit with
keeping Justin Herbert clean and on his feet. But when you
can put 2 or 3 tight ends in
the game because you have someone like Oronde Gadsden
that can also hurt you in in
the pass game now, it allows you to add more help to keep
Justin Herbert clean. And not
only that, but you also helping the run game with Kimani Vidal
goes for 23 carries 117 and a
tug. So when you look at the multiple different personnel
that the Chargers were able to
use last night because of Oronde Gadsden being such a a
weapon in the passing game, it
helps Justin Herbert be able to be efficient. It helps him to
be able to have some time. And
when you give somebody like that time, good things happen
for the Chargers. Chargers
outgained the Vikings 420 yards to a buck 60, which really
speaks to the Chargers defense.
However, they did suffer a loss with Derwin James. He has an
ankle injury, which I’m sure
we’ll find out more from Tom Pelissero and what that looks
like. But both teams have a ten
day break to think about it. Until then, we got to look
ahead to big games this weekend.
Sunday night, Aaron Rodgers is facing off against his former
team, not the Jets, in the
green Bay Packers for the first time in his career. He spent 18
years in green Bay, and his
former head coach, Matt LaFleur, is saying that his former QB
has shown he’s still got it. He
looks like he can still do anything. I what’s surprising
for such an old man, he’s still
moving around pretty good too. This guy is extremely accurate
and he can. If you give him
just a sliver of light, he can fit the ball in there. Why do I
feel like LaFleur was saying
that quote like, oh, he looks like he can still do anything.
And he’s like, and I’m not
enjoying it. I don’t want to see it. It’s not supposed to go
this way. He’s supposed to
leave town and it’s supposed to get worse, not better. The
Packers have their hands full
with a Steelers team that has seemingly figured it out with
Aaron Rodgers. Well, they
seemingly figured it out and everybody had questions about
Arthur Smith. And how is this
relationship going to happen with Mike Tomlin and Aaron
Rodgers? I think it worked out
beautifully. I think that not enough credit is given to Aaron
Rodgers in his not a surrender,
but almost like an acceptance of this is how things are done
over here in Pittsburgh. And it
goes to the little things. Remember when Aaron Rodgers
would make a fuss about his
helmet? Yeah. Now he’s wearing like one of the most advanced
technological technological
helmets now. Like people don’t see that as a big thing. But I
see that as a big thing. It’s
hard to teach an old dog new tricks, especially one that is
as successful as Aaron Rodgers
and just the helmet thing alone. It just goes to show that
someone like Aaron Rodgers is
open to change. He’s open to doing the things necessary to
win games. And the Pittsburgh
Steelers have been winning games lately because of
somebody like that, a future
Hall of Famer. My only thing is this whoever decided to make
this game happen in Pittsburgh
instead of green Bay, I know that. I know he didn’t. I know
Aaron Rodgers didn’t sign until
June and the schedule was made in May, but there were rumors
that he might have went to
Pittsburgh. Like it would have been such a cool little
experience to watch Aaron
Rodgers go back to green Bay and play his former team,
because it definitely does mean
a little bit of extra when you’re going back to a place
that’s so familiar. Yeah, I
mean, every every player comes in the media and is like, this
game means the same thing.
Every game means it’s all it all matters. I don’t want to
hear that from Aaron Rodgers.
He’s not going to comment on it because he’s a cool guy. But
this game for him has got to
mean a lot. I mean, you got to think about just his off season.
All the talk about him and the
darkness retreats. People are making fun of him. Nobody wants
him. No. This game is circled
on his schedule, and I’m excited to continue to see this
connection between Aaron
Rodgers and Darnell Washington. If you guys need an
embarrassing highlight, you can
play me going against Darnell Washington because he kind of
bullied me with the Raiders.
That’s the only time I’ll say that publicly, but I like what
those two are doing together.
Darnell Washington has been like this sneaky piece to this
offense. He’s obviously
phenomenal blocker because he’s 672 80. But just what he does
in the pass game it’s sneaky
and it works. Now the other side is I do think this is
going to be a football good
football game because the Packers they can kind of
separate themselves here. They
can be a team where when you say list your top five
everybody’s putting green Bay
in. It’s no question who they are. So when you talk about
football around fall this is
going to be a good football game. I’m going to give you
another opportunity here.
Darnell Washington, you already know the answer. Yes. Right in
front of you I should it’s Ladd
McConkey and Darnell Washington went to. You’re walking me into
this. They’re they’re from
Georgia. They went to Georgia. The Georgia Bulldogs Georgia I
still get it wrong. No, I still
got it halfway wrong. I told Jamie before this I said she
goes, are you good with guys in
college and pop quizzes? And I said, I’m going to say no, I’m
not. And then what happened
here? We took your hand. I saw the open flame. And I was like,
answer the questions. Isaac.
Yeah, right. Isaac, I want to pick your brain. Both of you
actually, on this, just the
concept that T.J. Watt and Micah Parsons on the same field
together. And just what those
guys mean for a defense and what they bring to the position.
These guys are special. These
guys are special. I would encourage everybody to put on
ISO cam on those guys on third
downs and just watch the way they rush, the way they move,
it’s different. Like you can go
watch another guy on a different play on third down
and just compare the two,
because these guys are game changers. And one thing coaches
always told me and the D-line
that I was on, you have to affect the quarterback when
you’re playing a guy like Aaron
Rodgers, for instance, who wants to sit in the quarterback,
you have to make him
uncomfortable. So these guys are kind of like the
differentiating factors in
these games. I love watching them. I mean, it’s fun to watch.
Yeah, put the camera on them,
but also put the mic on them because I want to be able to
hear what Aaron Rodgers is
saying at the line of scrimmage when he’s looking at that
D-line and the different fronts
that green Bay likes to run, like, where’s Micah Parsons at?
And I love because Aaron
Rodgers is one of those guys. He’ll call out defenders like,
you ain’t coming. Like, I want
to be able to hear that. So don’t only have the camera on
them. Mike these guys up and I
want to I want to listen to it because Jordan Love is cut from
the same type of cloth. He’s a
smart football player. And so talk about T.J. Watt and that
front. It’s going to be fun
listening and watching the type of communication that’s being
had at the line of scrimmage
from these quarterbacks when they evaluate that D-line.
Absolutely. Here’s what else I
love about it, too, when you watch these guys. Another thing
I’d encourage the viewers to
watch, watch how they use them, like you watch what they do
with what with Parsons. They’ll
bring them off the ball. They’ll be in a linebacker
position. They’ve got all these
different packages where as a quarterback or as a center,
when you’re trying to call out
what’s going on, you have no clue what’s coming because they
have these third down packages
that we love. So it’s not just their pass rush ability, it’s
what they add to just the whole
defense and a quarterback’s ability to diagnose it. Packers.
Steelers Sunday Night Football
Steelers have been handling their own business within the
AFC North. They stumbled
against the Bengals last week. The Ravens have just been
stumbling period. They’re 1 in
5 right now and they’re taking on a surging four and two bears
team in week eight. And with
that, we bring in Tom Pelissero, our NFL network insider with us
this morning. The bears have
turned things around. Tom. The Ravens are hoping to emulate
that with Lamar Jackson. Is he
back? What’s his availability? How can Baltimore pull this
thing off? Well, Jamie, Ravens
coach John Harbaugh has been reluctant, to say the least to
say anything definitive about
the status of Lamar Jackson or any other injured player, for
that matter. But what we do
know is that Lamar has been on the practice field the past two
days, albeit in a limited
capacity, Harbaugh said. Even back before the bye. The
expectation was Lamar would
return this week, so nothing definitive yet, but certainly
seems like we are trending
toward Lamar Jackson returning to the field, as you mentioned,
for Ravens team, that is in
much need of a win on Sunday against the rising bears.
Another quarterback injury.
News Brock Purdy remains limited in practice, still has
not been a full participant
once since he aggravated his toe injury when he tried to
return to the lineup back in
week four. Kyle Shanahan said at the start of this week it
would be a stretch for Purdy to
be ready this week, so sounds like it is once again going to
be Mac Jones on Sunday against
the Texans. Meanwhile, the commanders have already ruled
out their quarterback Jayden
Daniels, for Monday night’s game against the Chiefs because
of the hamstring injury that he
suffered against Dallas. Dan Quinn said it earlier this week.
This is nothing long term. It
is a low grade hamstring injury for Jayden Daniels, but really
the commanders focus is let
Jayden focus strictly on rehabbing that injury as
opposed to pushing to play.
This week, it will be Marcus Mariota who was one on one
filling in for Daniels earlier
this season. He’ll get the ball at Kansas City. Jamie feels
weird. Time to look way ahead
of Monday Night Football. But this matchup between what would
have been Patrick Mahomes and
Jayden Daniels, it was spicy, it was sexy, it was
quarterbacks. It was all well
and good. We’re not going to see Jayden Daniels and we hate
that. However, what we can’t
overlook is just how good the Chiefs have been and
specifically Patrick Mahomes.
He’s been on an absolute tear. He’s got 14 TDs against two
picks so far this season.
Mantei when you look at the Chiefs and the inevitability
that they are going to make us
talk about them, what catches your eye? Well, name it James.
I mean, Rashee rice catches my
eye. I mean Rashad Smith does I mean the rookie out of SMU.
Rashad Smith is a rookie out of
SMU. He came alive a little bit. Now I know that I haven’t seen
this in a long time where
starters are sitting by the end of the third quarter and the
third quarter, that’s what the
Chiefs did to the Raiders last week, where the you had Patrick
Mahomes with a mic on at the
end of the at the end of the third quarter. But when I look
at this Chiefs team I look at
an offense a defense. They’re starting to play together.
They’re starting to play total
team football. And when they start to roll like this, the
things that scare me and I said
it in my major segment, we’re used to seeing them play like
this in December. Yeah, it’s
not even Halloween yet. And they’re starting to look like
they’re in playoff shape and
playoff phase. So I love so many things about the Chiefs.
And I’m not I’m not one of
those fans of the Chiefs that just keep guys. If you are a
football fan, you cannot not
love what they have been doing, especially that man. Number 15,
running the ball the way he’s
run the ball and leading that team the past 4 or 5 weeks when
they weren’t doing so well. So
there’s so many things I love about these guys, Isaac. I just
want to for everybody who is
hating on the Chiefs and criticizing him, we have to
take a second for them because
it was valid. This team, like at the if you divide this year
in half like few weeks ago,
it’s not like we were like, this team is going to be
unbelievable. Also, I would
like to just reference the clip of Chris Jones walking at the
end of the game. So like how
bad that looked you at that point. It’s very fair to be
like something’s not good right?
So everybody’s okay if they were hating on him. The point
is right now they do look great
and they are firing on all cylinders. I thought you were
going to say it’s October and
they’re already starting to look spooky because they are. I
mean Isaac, it was a layup. It
was a layup. And you just. Yeah whatever I’ll take it. It’s
October and they’re starting to
look spooky. Here we are. But you’re right I mean this is a
team that for however many
years when December comes and January comes, you don’t want
to see them. Who wants to play
Patrick Mahomes in January? Nobody does. And they came
early. They came early. We
really didn’t think that they were going to be at this point.
But it’s exciting to see. And I
think a lot of it has to do with the leadership. Like you
mentioned, some of these
receivers and, you know, they have pieces that have been
there for a while, not
necessarily them, but like the Mahomes, the Kelce I think of
Drue Tranquill who they brought
on Chris Jones. Yeah, these are guys that have been there for a
while. And they add a layer of
leadership that when things aren’t perfect they’re going to
figure it out. So I think you
also have to talk about that. And I will not forget Andy Reid
is obviously the Goat of
coaching. He’s going to get his team right. So pop quiz. Oh
okay. Here we go. What college
Drue Tranquill go to go Irish. Let’s go. He’s got that one. He
got that one guys. But yeah
that’s a layup I love drew. He’s really I mean he finds a
way every single year to
perform well I mean he’s a beast. Super Bowl champ. Please
don’t leave us on this set in
the next segment. He’s so mad at us. We’re putting him
through college pop quizzes. He
actively was like, I don’t want to play this game. Like, no,
we’re going to make you play. I
was campaigning to not do it. Daniel Jones where did he go to
college? Dude, there we go. See?
You’re good at it, Isaac. You can do hard things. Daniel
Jones Daniel Jones is is over,
guys. Don’t ask McConkey Daniel Jones and the Colts. Are they
the best team in the AFC? Would
you stake your opinion on it? Baker Mayfield after a rough
outing in Detroit against
Detroit last week, are you still going to make the case
for him being an MVP? What have
I asked you to make both of those arguments, but then
change your tune halfway
through the take. We’re going to play this game next Manti.
Oh, Friday’s are so hard.
Fridays are hard. You guys. I’m

  1. Hi! Longtime casual fan. Preciate you guys. I have one suggestion, one thing you guys have lost is conciseness in between takes… Which is your style now, I understand, I do however can't keep my attention with that much filler. Could you put labels on your topics? Or somehow make it easier to follow the whole show? Thanks guys:)

  2. 02:20 – "Here was the quarterback that was starting for the Vikings." – proceeds to show a clip of Justin Herbert of the Chargers passing.

02:45 – "Here was a long and dehumanizing drive for the Chargers." – proceeds to show a clip of a Chargers TD.

03:40 – "Here's Wentz. Has time to find Ladd McConkey." – that's not Wentz, that's Herbert. They play for different teams.

This is some of the most garbage journalism I've ever seen. Lazy, sloppy, not accurate. I stopped watching after four minutes. Fire Jamie Erdahl.

  3. ORANDE GADSDEN II LOOKS LIKE HE COULD BE THE CHARGERS NEXT GREAT TIGHT END .. AFTER NFL HALL OF FAMERS. KELLEN WINSLOW .. AND ANTONIO GATES ..

  4. I guess I'll be the one to point it out but Zelda is the princess, Link is the hero. Cuz they're referring to Kyle as Zelda

  5. Isn’t that the guy who ran the Chicago marathon?! 😂shout out to Issac ! 💪🏽💪🏽

  6. Total bull how you people take comments out of context. Flacco never said he preferred eating by himself. He was talking about how nice it was to have some personal time as a father of five. Also, pretty rude and ageist to refer to Flacco and Rodgers as “very old” 😂

  7. When I look at the Vikings roster I see a mishmash, a hodgepodge, and a patchwork. This is why I think Kwesi might be fired by year’s end. This team seriously lacks young homegrown talent. The Lions, Eagles, Chiefs, and Rams all have young homegrown talent. And they are all genuine Super Bowl threats. If the Vikings would say wind up with the number eight pick in the 2026 NFL Draft would you trust Kwesi with the pick? I wouldn’t. And I do think the Vikings will be drafting in the top ten; maybe top five.

There is absolutely no point in talking about Carson Wentz. He’s like a banged up relief pitcher being asked to eat up innings in a blowout. Talk about the GM who signed him.

  8. Today's player. I make too much money to take a hit in a violent game. Pre 90s player. I gotta take a beating to make a hundred grand
