I have a slower swingspeed and always struggle with the longer irons. Saw Fleetwood and Adam Scott rave about it and it honestly best club in the bag atm. Made the longer par 3s playable, replaced my 4-6 irons/hybrids and just getting height on the ball with little effort has been something new for me. New and High/mid handicappers (19 myself) should really invest in one. Wish I got one a lot sooner!

Your top issue is your setup: you’re a bit too upright at address, with not enough forward tilt. That can let your spine angle wobble and push the club outward on the downswing. Cue for setup: tilt your upper body a bit more forward so you feel a steady spine angle. Your tempo looks a bit quick, which can make it hard to time the long clubs. Cue for tempo: aim for a smoother, more connected rhythm so your 9-wood flies higher with less effort.

I love my 9 wood. As an aside, I absolutely cannot fathom how this nice of a swing is a 19 handicap!

Im a big fan of the 7 and 9 wood for higher handicap and slower swing speed players, even pro’s throw a 7 wood in the bag

I have a 9 wood for attacking some longer par 3s because of how well it sits from the high apex. Also works surprisingly well with a long shot out of the rough. It’s been fun and always gets other people in the group giddy, they love to hit it.
