World No 1 Scottie Scheffler will chase a third consecutive title at the Hero World Challenge after being confirmed in the 20-man field for the December event.

The two-time Masters champion enjoyed a dominant 2025 season, winning six times, including The Open Championship and the PGA Championship, and will look to close out the year on a high at Albany in the Bahamas from 4 to 7 December.

Tournament host Tiger Woods was not among the 17 players announced on Tuesday, although three exemptions remain open.

The 15-time Major champion has not played a top-level event since the 2024 Open Championship after undergoing back surgery and later suffering a ruptured left Achilles tendon in March.

Woods, who turns 50 on 30 December, is expected to make his competitive return in January with his Jupiter Links team in the new TGL tech-golf series.

Six of the world’s top 10 players have already committed to the event, including Scheffler, fellow Americans Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, JJ Spaun and Harris English, as well as Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre.

They will be joined by England’s Justin Rose, Austria’s Sepp Straka, Japan’s 2016 Challenge winner Hideki Matsuyama, Canada’s Corey Conners and Americans Keegan Bradley, Cameron Young, Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.
