Whatever unfolded at Beth Page was in the simplest terms so golf. And yes, plenty of the American players saw it coming, Justin Thomas included, and hoped it would go their way. It didn’t. After being thoroughly outplayed on Friday and Saturday in match play, Team USA mounted a furious Sunday comeback in the singles, cutting into a seven-point deficit before ultimately falling short. The final score 15 to13 in favor of Europe. It marked team USA’s worst home defeat since 2012 and their sixth loss in the last eight RDER cups. Still, that Sunday surge was nothing short of admirable. Yet, many fans and analysts couldn’t wrap their heads around how poorly the Americans had performed over the first two days. PGA Tour pro Michael Kim echoed that frustration, questioning whether the PGA of America even prioritizes victory over optics. Do they PGA of America ultimately care if the US wins? Let’s just pick who we want as captain next. Any long-term planning or thinking for the US side? But to Justin Thomas, that doesn’t mean Team USA was beaten in spirit. During a recent PGA Tour Originals appearance, JT defended his squad and pushed back against critics. People always give us a hard time, saying, “We just got to make more putts. We just have to play better. I’m sure there are little things we can do, but at the end of the day, you’ve got to find a way to beat those guys more often. Vice captain Kevin Kner agreed, recalling one of the weekend’s wildest moments. Young made that putt before they even posted on the board. So, I pointed up and raised my hands. Then the scoreboard lit up and the crowd just exploded. Then JT did it and Bryson came back and these people were going crazy out there. The energy was unreal. Heading into Sunday, the only real debate was how much Europe would win by. They led 11.5 to 4.5 after two dominant days, a near insurmountable gap. But then came the spark. Cameron Young earned the first US singles point. JT followed and suddenly the boards started lighting up red. For a brief electric stretch, it felt like the Americans might just pull off the greatest comeback in Ryder Cup history. While they didn’t complete the miracle, Team USA’s five Sunday points spared them from deeper embarrassment and reignited pride in the red, white, and blue. Justin Thomas summed it up perfectly in an Instagram post shortly after the loss. Play to the whistle we did. Still in awe at what this team did yesterday and how much fun we had doing it. So grateful to be a part of another Ryder Cup. Hats off to Ryder Cup Europe. They earned it. Until next time at Rydercupisa United States. Because at the end of the day, that Sunday was golf in its purest form. Dramatic, unpredictable, unforgettable, and yes, sometimes cruel. Especially for team USA captain Keegan Bradley. Keegan Bradley admits he’s still haunted by the Rder Cup. Loss Keegan Bradley isn’t pretending the loss didn’t sting. You win, it’s glory for a lifetime. you lose, it’s I’m going to have to sit with this for the rest of my life.” He confessed on Monday. The 39-year-old captain took accountability for several missteps from questionable pairings to course setup choices, acknowledging how devastating the early rounds were. “You put so much into it, and you have all this planning, and the first two days went as poorly as we could have ever imagined,” Bradley said, reflecting on the emotional toll. One moment that summed it up. After another crushing matchplay loss on Saturday, Bradley reportedly walked off the course just to gather himself before facing his team that night. Even now, he admits he’s still trapped in what he calls the RDER Cup fog, struggling to move past the disappointment. Since the RDER Cup to now has been one of the toughest times in my life, he admitted. Yet, despite the heartbreak, Bradley’s season has been outstanding. He won both the 2024 BMW Championship and the 2025 Travelers Championship, the latter as defending champion. Still, his relationship with the Ryder Cup remains complicated. This effing event has been so brutal to me. I don’t know if I want to play. No, I do, he said, half joking, half serious. Despite the emotional scars, Bradley insists the experience was incredible. Proof that even the most painful chapters in golf can be unforgettable because that’s what makes the RDER Cup and the game itself so magnetic. Triumph and heartbreak intertwined forever written in the grass at Beth Page.
