Tommy Fleetwood’s DP World India Championship win wasn’t just about golf — it was personal. ❤️
Inspired by a challenge from his young son, Frankie, Fleetwood promised to win a tournament where his son could run onto the 18th green. At Delhi Golf Club, he did exactly that — shooting a final-round 65 (-7) with eight birdies and just one bogey to claim victory at 22-under par.
Fleetwood edged out Keita Nakajima by two shots, with Shane Lowry, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Thriston Lawrence close behind. A clutch stretch of birdies on holes 7–10 sealed the deal, showing the elite form that made him a Ryder Cup standout.
The tight, tree-lined Delhi Golf Club course demanded strategy over distance — a refreshing test that rewarded precision. Even Rory McIlroy left his driver in the bag, tying for 26th at 11-under.
Fleetwood’s emotional post-round comments made the victory even more special:
“He said, ‘Dad, you’ve never won one where I could run on the green.’ That’s what I wanted to do all day.”
This win adds to Fleetwood’s momentum after a strong Ryder Cup showing — and proves again why he’s one of golf’s most beloved and consistent stars.

Tommy Fleetwood’s DP World India Championship win wasn’t just another trophy. It was a personal mission. Inspired by a challenge from his young son, Frankie, Fleetwood set out to win in front of him for the first time. He just said randomly, “You’ve never won a tournament and I’ve been able to run on to the 18th green,” Fleetwood recalled. “I was like, I’m writing that down.” No notes were needed. His scorecard did all the talking. At Quirky Delhi Golf Club, Fleetwood carded eight birdies and a single bogey for a final round 65, finishing 22 under par. That twoshot victory edged out 54 hole leader Kada Nakajima, while Rder Cup teammate Shane Lowry tied for third alongside Alex Fitzpatrick and Thristen Lawrence. Victor Havlin chipped in with an eagle on 18 to tie for sixth. Fleetwood’s five-hole stretch around the turn, draining long birdies on seven, 8, 9, and 10, put him in the perfect position, and he never looked back. I puted amazing today. I really, really did, Fleetwood said. Down the stretch, I hold some great putts, like mid-range putts. After gaining momentum, I managed to keep it going through the back nine. His performance wasn’t just about power. It was precise, strategic, and relentless. The Delhi course, measuring just under 7,000 yards, tested players accuracy over distance. Narrow fairways, dog legs, and thick Bermuda rough framed by dense forests forced 42% of the field to leave drivers in the bag. Rory Mroy, one of the game’s greatest drivers, skipped the club entirely, tying for 26th at 11 under. Fans were treated to a week of strategic iron play and Fleetwood thrived in that environment. This victory was Fleetwood’s second start since his Rder Cup dominance where he led Europe in points. Yet even with PGA Tour and Ryder Cup success, he had questions to answer on the DP World Tour, including securing a top 70 spot for the playoffs. Winning in India erased those doubts. Another win feels great, Fleetwood said. But the personal element made this triumph even sweeter. Winning in front of his son Frankie added meaning beyond the leaderboard. It’s just one of those little things. It means a lot to me. Fleetwood said that’s what I wanted to do all day. Fleetwood’s performance at Delhi reminded fans why he’s one of the most exciting players in golf. Confident under pressure, relentless with momentum, and capable of turning personal motivation into championship glory. With that streak of form and a win for his son to cherish, the Southport star has set a high bar for the rest of the season.
