Hello and welcome to another Golf FM bag review. The world famous place for bag reviews. I didn’t really want to do another bag review. I’ve just sort of been forced into again. I wanted to do a video tonight on a new rangefinder. I wanted to go outside in the fresh air and hit some golf shots, use the drone and all that sort of thing. You know, I’m stuck in here doing another bag review. So, look out for that rangefinder review when it comes out. So, another bag review. This time it is the G4 Daytona Plus carry bag. Now, this is another one of the same person’s bag that I’ve done a review on recently, the Vessel, whatever it was. Can’t even remember the name of it. I did a review in a Vessel Luxe Prime cart bag. That’s what it was called. And there’s a member of the club’s got that bag and he’s also got this bag. So he’s swapped the clubs out of this back into the Lux Prime cart and given me this to review. So this is actually a Vessel bag in disguise. So G4 have commissioned Vessel to make this for them. So Vessel, if you don’t know what they are, is a really premium expensive make that just does bags. And they make a lot of bags for tour players and things like that as well. If you didn’t know, Tiger Woods of all people and his son Charlie use vessel bags. Now, that actually I don’t need to say anymore. If somebody told me that a while ago, I would add a vessel bag years ago. Anyway, so this is the G4 version of a Vessel bag. It’s quite similar to the Vessel Sunday 3 bag, but slightly different. It’s not exactly the same as one of the Vessel makes. It’s quite similar to the Sunday 3, but there are a few differences. I don’t have a Sunday 3 to go through the differences, but there are some I’ve been told. Like the weight for example, the Daytona Plus carry bag, little bit of paper here again, is £350. The Vessel Sunday 3 is £299. And that’s cost actually. That’s not weight. The weight of them is £5.7 for this as opposed to £4.55 for the vessel Sunday bag. That equates to 2 kg for the Vessel Sunday 3 and 2.61 kg for this. So, they’re not particularly light. They are extremely wellmade and good quality and they should last for a long time. So, let’s go through all the bits and pieces on this bag. Now, that’s a lot of money for a start. So, some of you have just switched off. See you later. Thanks for tuning in at all. £350 for a small carry bag that isn’t waterproof. Thanks very much. I’m off. If you’ve stayed, if you’re interested in highquality carry bags that cost a lot of money, then keep watching. In terms of outside bits, first we’ve got a one, two, three, four-way top, and that has got dividers. These two middle ones are divided separately, and this is divided separate. So, it’s quite good dividers, but I have to say they’re not stitched in at the side. There is gaps. So your clubs could go through these gaps and get into other bits. So I don’t know, maybe some people have got experience of whether this is an annoying bag for the dividers not working that well or not, but they they could be actually stitched in if we really wanted to do this properly vessel in G4. I know it would cost even more, but you know, you wouldn’t have me saying that there was a slight issue with that. Anyway, this is nice velour feel. Feels quite solid. There’s no little annoying metal studs that are going to wear your clubs out. There’s a we vessel tag in there as well. And then you’ve got this sort of soft feel. Looks like leather, but it probably isn’t. Vinyl cow material, plastic cow material, and that feels quite good and padded and nice. And a little grab handle at the top. The strap itself is a double strap with reasonable padding. It’s a wee bit thin if I’m being honest. Yeah, there’s not a major amount of padding in that. apparently can go into a single strap if you so desire to do that and have a degree in maths that you can actually work out how to do it. I am not attempting that. It looks far too complicated, but I bet it can be done if you wanted to. I’m going to try it on just to see what the strap feels like. Yeah, it feels decent. It’s fine. It’s It’s not the most padded strap in the world, but they’re probably trying to keep the weight down a little bit. On the outside still, we got a little towel bag tag rack. We’ve got nothing else. This bit is to do with the umbrella strap, I think. Yeah, it goes in there. Umbrella goes down and through into there. Do you want to see it with an umbrella in? I knew you would. Right. So, in here. I’m just going in behind it. I don’t actually know how this works. And that holds an umbrella perfectly well. It’s fine. So, anything else on the top? Nice handle here. Solid sort of padded feel. Looks quite good. And the stand. What’s the stand like? Stan’s got tag her written on it. I don’t know whether he’s put those on. He won’t have put stickers on himself. I Why is there tag her stickers on it? If anybody knows why there’s tag her stickers on it, right in maybe should have asked him. Anyway, so you got tag her stands apparently. So is famous for making stands right enough. Let’s put this on here and see what what there’s no paraphernalia at the bottom with this. It’s built in the stand mechanism. So that’s quite good. It’s quite clean and nice. The stand feels decent. Stand feels solid. It’s quite light. No problems with that. That looks quite good. And there’s actually a stowway bit as well if you’re it’s on a trolley or it’s you’re storing it or you’re putting it in a flight bag or something. What else have we got? Little bit of padding in here. G4 logo in there. Don’t know a lot about G4. I’ve heard of them obviously. I’ve seen them about. I should probably know more about them. Never stocked it. Rep’s never been near the place. But, you know, I think they’re an up and cominging company and they seem to know what they’re doing. Anyway, you’ll probably know more about G4 than I do. So, what are we on to? Pockets. Yes, I think we’re on to pockets. Isn’t particularly light. I have to say that. I did say that at the start. Right. So, this got a little pull cord on it and it’s a magnet and that feels perfectly good and it’s sort of velour lined in there. It’s a reasonably deep pocket. Decent pocket. Quite a nice thing. Nice feature there. magnet bottom pocket here. Nice zips on it. A bit like the Vessel ones. Probably there they’ll be leather. Hang on a minute. Oh, it might be leather actually. Leather touch points. It said on the Oh, there’s a glove in there. It’s not cleaned it out completely. You’ll get that back. This doesn’t have the velour feel in it and it’s got little sidey velcro bits. So, this can obviously come off and get embroidered with a fancy club crest on it. So, you could send that away. That’s a perfectly good pocket. It’s not insulated or anything like that. There’s no roost chickens going in there and keeping warm. This zip’s not working that well at the moment. It’s got caught there. See that design fault? No, it isn’t really. I think it’s just the the edges in there got caught a little bit. Now, we’ve got a little bit of a insulation in there. It’s one It’s not my favorite type of insulation cuz you know my thoughts on this. You put a bottle in there. Watch this. So, a bottle in there and you’ve got a little bit of insulated material at the back portion of that bottle. That’s the only bit. So, hot air in here constantly on it. How is that keeping it particularly cool? I don’t think it is, but it holds the bottle nicely. Don’t know why I’m bothering with this review to be honest cuz it’s only got about 450 views in about 10 days, the last vessel one. So, maybe maybe G4 is more sought after. I don’t know, but I’m not holding my breath. but had nothing else to do it on really. So, that’s what we’re doing. Get on with it. Get on with it. Right. So, we’ve got that’s that pocket. There’s nothing on there. Don’t like it when they leave things blank. I would always like to put something in there. Just another It’s going to add cost, I suppose. Why would you want two bottles? But even like on the Vessel Lux Prime Cart, they had a little pen holder thing. Just a we slot. Not a massive fan of pen holders and things like that. I don’t think you desperately need them, but they could have done something on there. Anyway, small point, not a not a deal breaker. Then this pocket has got this sort of nice quilted look on the bag. See what this pocket’s like. Perfectly f not luxurious in there or anything, but it feels perfectly well made and nice. Quite a lot of space and nothing on that side that’s small. So, we’re on to the side pockets here. And we’ve got no one cares what you shot written on the thing apart from yourself. Apart from yourself, who’s utterly devastated when they don’t play well. No one else cares. So, that is true. Probably. No one gives a stuff what you shot. There’s a little black bit there, which I don’t know what the point of that is. That bit there. I don’t know what the point of that is. You can’t thread anything through that. It’s just a random bit of black material. What does it pull out or something? No, nothing. Is that a pen? Is that a pen holder place? Hang on. Go pencil. It’s not really old school, is it? No, you can’t jam anything in there. Sorry. That’s a nothing. So, this is your next pocket. It is velour lined. It’s not the softest, most velour pocket in the world. I’ve felt nicer ones than that, friendlier ones than that. It’s fine though. It’s fine. Nothing wrong with it. A little bit tight getting your hand in and out of there, but it’s fine. And then I like I quite like this big long bit, even though it says it’s trying to be sort of all kind of motivational enough sort of good way that it’s stopping you caring about your score, which won’t work on me. quilted side again here. Big pocket. So, it’s an important pocket and it’s got the hood in it which is taking up 90% of the room. That’s the problem with this material. This sort of vinally material. If they do the hood in that material which looks good and you kind of want them to takes up a huge amount of space, they need to work harder on the packaging of that. That needs to be in a bit that doesn’t affect it. We surely somebody could come up with something a wee bit more inventive than that that the hood could be unraveled in a different way. I do like the ping idea when they build it into here for padding. Now I don’t know maybe that wouldn’t be that comfortable if you did that. But if there’s a way of doing that work on it people please try and get a better version of that anyway. So you might not take that if you live in a hot country where it never rains then you don’t need that but you would need it in Scotland. to tell you that for nothing. So, the pocket in here is quite big. It’s reasonably easy to get into, especially for quite a small carry bag. It’s actually quite good. There’s a we extra net thing in there, which is quite good. That’s all right. Um, other than that, nothing really to write home about there. Perfectly good pocket. And that is it. So, quite a lot of colors available in this. Quite sort of funky colors. And you either like it or you probably hate it. I think it’s all right. I wouldn’t personally buy this bag. Just not a massive fan of the color of it. It’s all right. It’s not too bad. No offense to the person that lent me this. It’s each his own with colors. Oh, we haven’t done the hood. Before I start rounding it up and telling you what I think. Let’s put the hood on. Let’s not do it at a great height. Let’s bring it down onto the the ground where you would normally be doing it. This doesn’t look the easiest thing in the world. That might be at the back. Right. We’re going to go as though that’s going through the legs. This is a world of hurt. I think this is poppers but just onto itself. I don’t think I’m going to like this. I’m not a fan of Velcro when it’s just on itself. If I’ve done this the wrong way, I’ll be absolutely raging. Right. So, that’s it’s pouring with rain. Absolutely heaving it down with rain. And I’m battling with my Daytona Plus rain hood trying to get it on. And I’ve managed it. I have managed it. I think that’s the way it goes. It’s got one zip. It’s got two zips. I actually don’t like that. It’s like a we zip at the bottom. That’s Maybe the thing’s falling off. I don’t know. Does that look right? That doesn’t look right. It must be like that. It’s going off at an angle. Look at it. Don’t worry if your clubs are broken. The rain hood works if you’ve snapped your driver and keep it dry. Have I done that wrong? Should we try it the other way? Sorry. This is going to make the video like 10 times longer. You could just edit it out, Fraser. It’s not possible to do that. Let’s do this in here. if it right goes up the right way just in case G4 start getting annoyed at me. So we do not have a wonky hood. We have a perfectly good hood. Yeah, it is. I just did it the wrong way around. It just shows you, you know, I know what I’m doing with bags supposedly. And I got that round the wrong way. So that looks better, doesn’t it? You wouldn’t you you that could cope with a with a drive that was still intact, which is what you want ideally. That actually feels like it’s going to work all right. I think, yeah, there’s holes there and stuff, but I think they’re probably far enough down the bag that it wouldn’t be a problem. Yeah, it’s fine. But this material is not fully waterproof. It doesn’t purport to be. It doesn’t claim to be. The vinyl itself is is quite similar to the one on the Luxe cart vessel bag that I did. And the person that had that said they effectively feel like it’s the most waterproof bag they’ve had. Even though it doesn’t say that it is waterproof, it’s not seam sealed behind all of the any stitching that they do, which is what you have to do with a waterproof bag. You have to ensure that it’s taped behind every single stitch because you’ve punched a hole in it and you’ve got to shore that up at the back. So, what do I think of this? I think it’s it’s it is nice. You can’t I don’t know if you can really put it up against other what I would call normal lightweight carry bags cuz it’s just like 200 No, it’s not 200 lb. It’s like £150 more probably than your average good lightweight bag that would be in that sort of structure and size. Actually, I’ve got a bag which is quite similar to it which I’ve done a review on. So, this is a Tailor Made Flex Tech premium carry bag and I have done a review as I say on this. So, if you want loads of detail on that, intricate detail then feel free to watch that. But this is £269. So, it’s quite a bit less expensive, but it basically does it seems like the same sort of thing as this, but it’s quite a bit heavier. Actually, this is, let me remind myself, 2.95 kg, and that was 2.61 kg. You do feel it as being quite heavy, but it is quite a bit less expensive than the G4, but it’s not as fancy colors and funny stitching, but that is along the same lines. So, that’s in that mold. This is probably one of the less least expensive sort of of that type of bag of a manufacturer that you’ve heard of. So, yes, I I think you’ve got to take it in isolation a wee bit or certainly against other vessel bags and other high-end low volume sort of suppliers like Jones and things like that which I’ve not really reviewed yet. Feel free to send me one Jones if you want. But yeah, I like it. I can’t really fault it designwise. It’s vessel that have done this. So there’s never going to be like a terrible error in design because bags is all they do and they’re quite good at them. It feels really good quality. I think it would last a long long time. I mean that might actually be Would it last twice as long as a 200B Tailor Made or Sun Mountain or something? I don’t know. Maybe it would, but it’s a bit heavier. Quite a bit heavier. For me with these things, it’s it’s really mostly about the practicalities of them and and I would want if I had this type of smaller bag, have enough space to be comfortable to hold, but also to be very lightweight. That would be a big consideration for me. So, I would be slightly put off by that because of the weight of it. Now, I’ve got a Ping Hoofer Tour. This bag makes it into a lot of videos because I always mention it, but this is heavier than normal hoofer. Not as good pockets as normal hoofer, but I liked it because I’m a club pro and I want to look slightly like I might be a club pro and I’ve got something that looks like a little bit more tour and it’s the make of bag that matches the clubs to a bit more cuz I’ve got ping iron. So that’s why I did this. So that was I was doing it a lot more on this kind of looks side of it and I took a slight hit on weight and pocket design because of that. I suppose that’s what you’re doing with this. You go in because you really like the looks. You like the fact that is an exclusive bag maker that’s made it. Tiger uses these vessel bags even though this is G4 branded. And maybe you like the whole G4 thing. It’s a kind of fashion thing and and that’s what you’re into and you like this quilted look. So, there’s reasons to go down that route, and if that’s your thing, then this is a perfectly good bag. And hopefully this in this review, you’ve had a good look at the pockets and the setup and you can make your own decision. But personally, it’s not really for me. But if Ping made this and and had big Ping writing on the side of it, I might be interested. Or whatever irons I’ve got at the time, because that’s what I tend to do, match up the bag to the irons, then yeah, I I could live with it. It’s a perfectly usable, wellthoughtout bag in terms of space and as I say, no problem with it. Crack on if you want to get a G4 Daytona Plus. So, that’ll do us for today.
