Bucknell Women’s Golf continued its hot streak at the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis this past weekend. The Bison competed against nine other teams on Monday and Tuesday to ultimately win the tournament, with all girls placing in the top 15 individually. The team was led by Paige Richter ’26 and Joelle Johnson ’29, who tied for third individually.
Monday was a strong start for the Bison in round one, as they gathered four scores between 74-77 to obtain a nine-stroke advantage over second-place Towson. Sophia Bardunias ’28 led Bucknell on day one with a two-over par 74, tying for the individual lead. She opened her performance with a couple of bogeys, but then played at even par for most of the round after hole eight. She also tallied a few birdies at holes 12 and 14. Johnson finished the first round well with a 75 that established her at third and Richter started tied for fourth with a 76. Johnson originally suffered back-to-back doubles at holes 15-16, which balanced with two birdies at two and 18; Richter gained a birdie at the 11th hole. Nicole Yun ’27 also started in the top 10 with a score of 77 to put her in eighth place. She shot two birdies during her day as well.
The Orange and Blue carried their hot momentum into Tuesday’s performance. Yun finished in sixth place at seven-over, driving five strokes off with birdies at holes five and 15 to card a 74 on the day. Katherine Vice ’27 came back from a hard first day to finish her second round with a 74 scored performance to finish 15th individually. Bardunias took eighth after a nine-over par tournament and a 79 on day two. Johnson was three-over on Tuesday, like the day before, ending with two 75s for the tournament. Richter fired a two-over in the second round, assisted by two birdies, causing her to tie with Johnson for third overall in the course. The team together beat the field with nine strokes, finishing up with a 599 (+23) for a 36-hole tournament.
The Bison are done with their fall season and will wait until February to open up their spring campaign.
