LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s golf team will conclude its fall season this weekend at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in greater Monterrey, Mexico, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25.
Golfers will play the par-72 Mitras-Silla Course at Club Campestre Monterrey, which plays at 7,141 yards. The 54-hole event, hosted by George Washington University, will feature a unique format with 27 holes being played on each day. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
Along with the Aggies and host Revolutionaries, the 12-team field includes Davidson, George Mason, Howard, Loyola (MD), North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Richmond, Seattle, Texas-Rio Grande Valley and VCU.
About the Aggies
Scheduled to compete for the Aggies is sophomore Toby Heider (Kimberly, Idaho), sophomore Chase Goetschel (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), freshman Zach Skinner (Providence, Utah), sophomore Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah), and senior Luis Cantu (Monterrey, Mexico).
In its last competition, Utah State finished tied for 13th at 23-over 887 (307-286-294) at the Pacific-hosted Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. Heider was USU’s top finisher as he tied for 23rd at 2-under 214 (73-71-70) for his best-ever 54-hole score and best-ever finish. It is the third time he has finished a tournament under par, including the second time this fall.
On the season, Goetschel leads Utah State with a 72.92 stroke average over 12 rounds. Moody has a stroke average of 73.67 over 12 rounds. Cantu has a stroke average of 73.67 over six rounds. Heider has a stroke average of 74.17 over 12 rounds. Skinner has a stroke average of 75.33 over 12 rounds.
At the Monterrey Collegiate Classic
Utah State will be playing in the Monterrey Collegiate Classic for the third time.
In 2023, Utah State won the Monterrey Collegiate Classic with a school-record 29-under 835 (280-277-278). Last year, USU finished third with a 15-under 849 (285-281-283).
