As the 2025 race to Dubai and the DP World Tours season ending playoffs wrap up in the Middle East, attention will swiftly shift to the Southern Hemisphere, where the next big showdown awaits in Australia. The world class field is set to descend upon Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane for the BMW Australian PGA Championship. Featuring a mix of DP World Tour standouts and several stars from the Saudibbacked LIIV Golf League. Leading the charge from LIIV golf will be Chile’s Waqin Neman, a 20time professional winner and one of the games brightest young stars. The seventime LIV champion has confirmed his participation in the first of two back-to-back tournaments down under as he aims to complete the coveted Australian majors double after capturing the Australian Open title in 2023. Playing two weeks in Australia will be a great way to end the year, said Nean. It’s such a fantastic place to play golf. I’ve had incredible memories from competing here, especially after winning the Australian Open last year. The support from Aussie fans has been amazing, and I can’t wait to get back and compete again. The Australian PGA Championship has such a rich history and tradition. Having my name on that trophy one day would mean a lot. One of Neiman’s five Liv golf victories this season came earlier in Adelaide where he triumphed by three strokes. He’ll be joined in Brisbane by two of his Torque GC teammates, Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz and Colombia’s Sebastian Moz, both of whom have also enjoyed strong seasons. The Australian PGA Championship Field is already shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent years, featuring major names like Adam Scott, Ryan Fox, Minu Lee, Cam Davis, and defending champion Elvis Millie. Adding to the local flavor, a livey golf duo Cameron Smith and Mark Leechman are also confirmed to tee it up. “A truly international field has always been one of the hallmarks of the BMW Australian PGA Championship, and this year’s lineup is shaping to be among our most diverse yet,” said PGA of Australia CEO Gavin Kirkman. We’re thrilled to have Waqen, one of the best players under 30 in world golf, commit to both our championship in Brisbane and the Australian Open in Melbourne. He’s renowned for his elite ball striking and will no doubt be a major contender for the Kirkwood Cup.
