Kai Trump, the oldest granddaughter of President Trump, is carving out a digital presence beyond the political spotlight her family occupies. Her videos have been gaining millions of views, showcasing her personal interests and family life.
Her newest upload, an hour-long video of a round of golf with the President, has drawn attention both for its content and the rapid growth of her channel. It launched in September 2023 and has attracted 1.29 million subscribers and 146 million views to date.
In “Playing Golf with President Donald Trump (My Grandpa),” Kai Trump, 18, invites viewers to watch her bond with her grandfather on the golf course.
“I had an amazing time filming with my Grandpa to kick off my new series called 1 on 1 with Kai. In the video, everyone gets to see the bond we have, especially on the golf course,” she wrote in a post on X. “This is my favorite video I have filmed so far and holds a lot of meaning to me. I hope you enjoy this very special video.”
The post has been viewed more than 2.6 million times since it was posted on Oct. 11.
The video opens with Kai introducing her grandfather: “This is my grandpa. Most people know him as Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th president of the United States. Others know him as a businessman or a politician, but to me, he’s just my grandpa.” The pair navigate Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, complimenting each other’s swings and sharing tips on playing the game, while a heavy security presence can be seen at times in the backdrop.
Trump points to scenic locations along the course, noting, “It’s a popular spot for weddings,” as he looks toward a waterfall overlook. The two played best ball and encouraged each other throughout the game. At the start, Trump told his granddaughter, “I think we’ll do pretty good. You’re swinging so good.” Kai replied, “So are you. You’re swinging better than me, always,” and Trump responded, “Well, I don’t think so. I don’t know, we’re going to find out.”
Kai’s channel, where she has posted 183 videos, covers a mix of sports, golf, school, family events, and concerts, and often features her best friend, Emma Markin, who has since developed a growing YouTube channel of her own.
Kai, the oldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, gained widespread public attention following a speech she delivered at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) 2024, after her grandfather was shot in the ear by an assassin.
Viewers also see moments of lightheartedness and behind-the-scenes interactions, from talk about their golf game and their favorite sports and athletes to the beauty of the area and landscape. At one point, Kai asks Trump what the best piece of advice he could give to someone, and Trump says to love what you do.
“You’ve got to love what you do, otherwise you’re not going to do it well,” he said.
