The Northland Country Club in Duluth is a historic property with a story that began in 1898, when three prominent Duluthians, Alfred Taussig, E.P. Towne, and C.B. Woodruff, traveled to St. Paul to explore top golf courses in Minnesota that would serve as inspiration for their own course.
The three men returned to Duluth with many ideas and motivation, and quickly shared their plans with Pennsylvania real estate mogul T.W. Hoopes upon their return to Duluth. The four men would then find the location to make their dream a reality.
The Northland Country Club was founded on April 17, 1899, and today it’s recognized as one of the top 5 golf courses in Minnesota and one of the top Classic Golf Courses in the United States. Members also enjoy tennis, pool access, and the country club hosts several weddings and events throughout the year.
Recently, however, Northland Country Club has become the target for trespassing and vandalism, and now they’ve asked for the public’s help in identifying those who are responsible.
Northland Country Club Asks The Public For Help
On Tuesday, October 21, Northland Country Club, located at 3901 E. Superior Street, reached out through social media to report recent activity and share photos captured by security cameras.
Apparently, on two separate occasions within the past week, the Northland Country Club has experienced some overnight trespassing and vandalism by the individuals in the photos.

Anyone who recognizes any person or vehicle in the included photos is asked to notify them by calling 218-525-1941.

They’d also like residents in the area, particularly along 40th Avenue E., to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity during the early morning hours of Thursday, October 16, and/or Saturday, October 18.

They added that they have also notified the Duluth Police Department.
