Most golfers blame their swing when they hit a bad shot when their real issue is contact. Where you strike the ball on the face has a massive effect on direction, spin, and distance.
By simply spraying your club face, you can see exactly where you’re making contact — heel, toe, or center. Once you know your pattern, you can start fixing your swing with real feedback, not guesswork.

This is the most overlooked fault in golf and it really is killing your game. So, where you strike the golf ball on the face is critical to what happens to the ball flight. I’ll get a lot of golfers, they’ll hit a slice, for example, and I’ll say, “What caused that?” And they went, “Well, I feel like I was over the top and the face was open.” Well, that may be correct, but what about the fact hit the ball miles out of the heel? I’ve seen a lot of golfers hit pretty good swings, but just get the strike wrong and it’s caused bad results on the shot. So understanding where you’re striking the golf ball on the face is absolutely critical. Please don’t overlook it. The best way to find out what your patterns are are to spray the face with some strike spray or some athletes foot spray and then hit shots and just find out. The way I like doing this is hitting the shot but not looking and trying to make a decision on where you think it hit on the face. So if I think about that one there, I’m not going to look at the face. I’m going to let the ball flight tell me a little bit. It pulled a little bit. felt like it was a little bit fadey. I’m thinking it was kind of low to middle heel. That would be my guess. Okay, there you go. So, play the game of understanding, looking at the ball flight, understanding how it felt, and start finding out your patterns. It will make you improve so much quicker.
