This is our Bag Boy Revolver XP cart bag review.
I’m an avid golfer, a 7ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
Note: Check out our best hybrid stand bags list for stellar options.
The Bag Boy Revolver XP Cart Bag (4.1/5) features a smooth 360° rotating top and external putter well, but at $299, it’s hard to justify over the CB-15 ($169).
Quality materials and excellent club organization with 14-way full-length dividers, but no top handles hurts usability.
The cooler pocket extends into the bottom pocket making both tricky to maximize.
Best for golfers who want the novelty rotating feature and don’t mind paying for it.

Best For
Golfers who want a premium quality golf bag, with the novelty of a functional rotating top, and don’t mind paying for it.
Considerations
No top handles for lifting/moving the bag.
Cooler pocket extends into bottom pocket making both hard to use fully.
Verdict
The Revolver XP is a quality cart bag with a genuinely smooth rotating top and clever external putter well.
The lack of top handles hurts usability and the cooler pocket design is flawed.
The rotating top works well and helps if you’re on elevated carts or want quick club access, but it’s not essential.
If money is no object and you like the novelty, go for it. Otherwise, save $130 and get the CB-15 or spend similar money on the Chiller Pro for better features.

What Makes the Bag Boy Revolver XP Cart Bag Different?
The Bag Boy Revolver XP’s signature feature is its 360° rotating top.
Spin the entire top section to bring any club right to you—no reaching over clubs or digging through the bag.
It’s genuinely smooth and effortless. No switches, no levers. Just grab and rotate.
The external putter well accommodates oversized grips and makes your putter easily accessible without taking up a divider slot.
14-way full-length padded dividers prevent club tangling. Nine pockets provide storage, though the cooler pocket design is problematic (more on that below).
The bags a bit top-heavy when loaded with clubs and the lack of top handles makes moving it awkward.
Currently available in 7 colorways.
Looks – Multiple Colorways with Quality Fit and Finish
The Revolver XP comes in 7 colorways including Navy/USA (the one I’ve seen in person).
Clean design with quality materials throughout. No uneven lines, loose seams, or stray threads.
Fit and finish are excellent—looks and feels like a premium bag.
Club Storage – 14-Way Full-Length Dividers with External Putter Well
The Revolver XP features 14-way full-length padded dividers.
The external putter well is a standout feature—accommodates large putter grips and keeps your putter easily accessible. (I initially thought it was an umbrella holder until I read the description.)
Full-length padding prevents club tangling and protects shafts.
Clubs slide in and out effortlessly. The rotating top makes accessing any club simple—just spin to the club you want and pull it out.
Dividers feel padded enough to protect your investment.
Other Storage & Organization – Nine Pockets
Nine pockets total—three center pockets, three on either side.
Storage breakdown:
3 center pockets (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small)
3 pockets on left side
3 pockets on right side
Built-in cooler pocket (non-removable)
Fleece-lined waterproof valuables pocket
Pockets are accessible from both cart sides depending on how the bag sits.
The problem: The cooler pocket extends into the bottom pocket, making it tricky to maximize use of both. You’ll have to choose which one you prioritize.
This is a design flaw that hurts what should be excellent storage.
Pocket placement is otherwise solid.
Weight & Portability –
The Revolver XP is designed exclusively for cart and push cart use.
At 8 lbs, it’s noticeably heavier than the CB-15 (5.4 lbs). Weight isn’t a deal-breaker for a cart bag, but it’s worth noting.
The bigger issue: No top handles. There’s one handle on the front (also a design element) but nothing on top for easy lifting or moving.
This makes short carries from car to cart more awkward than it should be.
Single carrying strap is suitable for short distances but nothing more.
If you walk at all, look at the Chiller Hybrid Stand bags instead.
Cart Compatible – Works with All Carts
The Revolver XP works with push carts and riding carts.
Top-Lok system makes it especially compatible with Bag Boy push carts—locks in securely without needing straps.
Sits stable on both push carts and riding carts, though it’s a bit bulky for some push carts.
One issue: No cart strap pass-through. This makes securing it on some carts less convenient than bags with proper pass-through design.
Build Quality & Durability – Quality Materials Throughout
The Revolver XP is built with quality materials.
Fit and finish are excellent—nothing feels cheap or flimsy.
Zippers are smooth and high-quality. Zipper pulls are rubber and feel solid.
Stitching is clean and tight.
No concerns about durability based on what I’ve seen.
Rain Protection – Rain Hood Included
The Revolver XP includes a rain hood.
Goes on easily. You can access clubs from the front or back while the hood is on.
Does the job.
Value – Not why you buy the XP
At $299, the Revolver XP is expensive for what you get.
The CB-15 costs $169—that’s $130 less for 15-way full-length dividers (one more than the XP), similar pocket configuration, and better portability at 5.4 lbs.
The Chiller Pro costs $229—only $70 less than the XP but includes a removable cooler pouch and premium features the XP lacks.
Bottom line: The rotating top is clever, but it’s not worth $130 over the CB-15 unless you really want that feature.
The lack of top handles and flawed cooler pocket design make this harder to recommend at this price point.
Customer Reviews – What Real Owners Are Saying
Most owners love the rotating top but have mixed feelings on execution.(1)
Positive feedback:
The rotating feature gets consistent praise. One owner said: “The revolving lazy Susan quickly shows the club you need” and called it a “genius invention.”
Another noted: “I love the versatility of not having to change the clubs when using my Bag Boy 4 wheel cart and then riding a cart. Just rotate the clubs. No more removing and re-organizing.”
The external putter well is a hit. Multiple reviews mention it works great for large grips and keeps the putter easily accessible.
Club security gets praise when it works. One reviewer said: “This bag is amazing. All of my clubs can clip in and remain in place, even the driver with a thicker shaft.”
Common complaints:
The Clip-Lok/Grip-Lok system is divisive. Several owners find the clips too tight for thicker driver and wood shafts. One noted: “The clips are flexible to a point, but especially for longer clubs, these places hit the shaft where it is wider and it can be a challenge, and sometimes not possible, to lock the club into place.”
The cooler pocket design frustrates multiple owners. One said: “The middle rear pocket protrudes into the bottom pocket making the middle one unusable.”
No top handles is a recurring complaint. Owners want an easier way to lift and move the bag.
Durability concerns pop up in some reviews. A few owners reported the rotating top coming unglued after 1-3 years, zippers failing, and strap hooks breaking.
One owner summarized it well: “I like the bag for what it was designed for, no rattle and ease of access. What I don’t like is it only has one side D ring, the middle rear pocket protrudes into the bottom pocket making the middle one unusable.”
Bottom line from customers: The rotating top is the star feature and works as advertised. But design flaws (cooler pocket, no top handles, tight clips) and some durability questions keep it from being universally loved at $299.

Bag Boy Revolver XP Final Verdict
The Bag Boy Revolver XP does it’s primary task very well.
It’s is a quality cart bag with a genuinely smooth rotating top and clever external putter well.
