♪ Uso ♪ High stakes, high pressure tonight for Jey Uso inside Hell in a Cell and a golden opportunity for this man. Now you may notice that Jey Uso is wearing that very elaborate lei around his neck. It represents culture, it represents family, and it represents celebration and opportunity for Jey Uso tonight. You’re absolutely correct about all of those things. When I spoke to Jey Uso earlier this afternoon, he said the lei also represents the love he has for his cousin, Roman Reigns. Jey truly believes, that in his heart of hearts, it is still the same Roman Reigns who’s simply confused, caving under the pressure of being Universal Champion. But, Corey, it’s also a celebration perhaps for Jey Uso that he can maybe become Universal Champion, that maybe he can lead the family. And for Uso tonight, he is not stepping in to unfamiliar territory. Jey Uso has battled inside Hell in a Cell before, but that was in a tag team matchup. Tonight is much different, one-on-one under I quit rules. (crowd cheers)
(upbeat music) As we heard moments ago, the stakes simply couldn’t be higher. This will not just affect Jey Uso. There is potential to affect Jey Uso’s family at home, his children, his children’s children. You heard the Tribal Chief’s declaration. This is do or die for Jey Uso. (crowd chatters) (upbeat rock music) (crowd boos) And here comes the Universal Champion. Here comes the Tribal Chief. This is the fourth time in his career that Roman Reigns will step foot inside Hell in a Cell. Corey, he’s never been beaten inside this structure. Huge superstars have tasted as much success inside of this sadistic structure as Roman Reigns. Look at the focus in the eyes of the Universal Champion. (crowd boos)
(upbeat rock music continues) (fireworks explode) Representing the Anoaʻi family, Roman Reigns and, of course, Jey Uso. (crowd boos) Roman Reigns says he has given Jey opportunity after opportunity, gave him a payday last month in the pay-per-view event, but in Roman’s mind, Jey Uso would not stop. He continued to disrespect the champion, which has led to this. Well, earlier tonight, as part of the Hell in a Cell kickoff show, we heard from the Special Counsel to the Tribal Chief, Paul Heyman, who explained the consequences for Jey Uso, should he say, “I quit.” (crowd boos)
(upbeat rock music continues) When, and I do mean when Roman Reigns forces Jey Uso to utter the words, “I quit” inside Hell in a Cell, Jey Uso becomes an indentured servant. He will do the bidding for Roman Reigns at Roman Reigns’ leisure, at Roman Reigns’ discretion, when and how Roman Reigns tells him, commands him to do so. Those are the consequences that will occur tonight when Jey Uso says, “I quit” at the hands and the dominance of the raising, defending, undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion, and your Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. Can you imagine the humiliation Jey Uso would suffer to be forced into indentured servantship to the Tribal Chief? That’s a fate worse than death. Can you imagine the humiliation Roman Reigns would suffer if he said, “I quit” tonight? (crowd shouts)
(upbeat rock music) I am not a master lip reader, but Roman Reign just asked for forgiveness from someone for what’s about to go down. (relaxed rock music)
(crowd boos) The current Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, versus his cousin, Jey Uso, here tonight. I caught up with Roman earlier in the day. He said to me that this is a burden on him. He’s simply trying to provide for his empire as Universal Champion. The way you were talking moments ago, it seems to me you don’t think Jey Uso has any chance in this match tonight. I’m a realist, Cole. I’m a big fan of Jey Uso. I love him on a personal level and as a competitor, but let’s be perfectly honest, we have not seen anyone dominate like the Tribal Chief has in recent months. (bell rings) The following is a Hell in a Cell, I quit match, for the Universal Championship! (crowd cheers) There are no disqualifications or count-outs, and the only way to win is to force your opponent to say the words, “I quit.” Introducing the challenger, weighing in at 228 pounds, You know me. Jey Uso!
You know me, you know me! (crowd cheers) Let’s go. And his opponent, accompanied by his Special Counsel, Paul Heyman, weighing in at 265 pounds, he is, the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns! (crowd cheers) The door will be locked. The competitors now inside for the Universal Championship. This is the first I quit match in over five years at WWE and for the first time ever inside Hell in a Cell. You know, Corey, it’s one thing in a pitfall of submission matchup, you might be able to catch lightning in a bottle, stun your opponent, pick up the quick three-count, but it won’t be that way here tonight. (crowd cheers) For weeks now you broke my heart. You the one who changed. You the one who’s changin’. I’ve only changed for the better. You the one was changin’!
I’ve only changed because I have to in order to keep our family where it needs to be. They good! It’s for that championship or for him! Roman once again reminded Now we gotta get him. Jey Uso that it didn’t have to be like this. And now the lockup to start the I quit match where you must make your opponent say, “I quit” in order to win. Boom, and the shoulder tackle as the champion establishes early dominance. (crowd boos)
(Jey groans) The Universal Champion in the best physical condition of his entire career just uncorked a hellacious right. And remember, Roman Reigns blames Jey Uso for this, Corey. Having to repeat myself. I told you. You’re absolutely right, Michael. Roman admitted, this is a burden on him that is unnecessary. All Jey Uso had to do was acknowledge Roman as his Tribal Chief. Roman Reigns talks about the fact that he’s been there before, that he’s been champion. (Jey groans) I mean, come on, Corey, you think Jey Uso has no pride? He has built a career on heart and soul and pride. I completely agree with that statement, Cole. Jey Uso is an incredibly proud competitor, tough as the day is long, but I think even Jey is outmatched by the Tribal Chief tonight. (Roman grunts)
Ooh! What I want to see is if Jey has that killer instinct inside, if Jey will do what it takes to force Roman to say the words, “I quit.” Now, Corey, we saw an example this past Friday night on SmackDown that Jey Uso indeed has the killer instinct when he went after Roman Reigns. Does he have it when it counts? (Roman grunts) Reigns again with a clothesline as he continues to make Jey suffer. Look how cold and calculating the Universal Champion is tonight. (crowd shouts) Icy stare in the eyes of the Tribal Chief. Of sending a message not only to Jey, but to the entire family. Wasting my time. (Jey groans) The least you can do is stand. (crowd shouts) (Roman grunts) Oh, Jey Uso looking to fight back, stunning Roman Reigns momentarily. And now Uso got him with a knee right on the jaw. And Jey Uso with a kick to the midsection, and Jey’s showing some fight and fire now. Driving all the wind out of the champion, Reigns spills to the outside. And now Jey Uso in his wheelhouse. Here we go!
Jey looks to fly. Oh, and he drives Reigns into the Hell in a Cell! (crowd cheers) And Uso may have injured himself as well, but that’s what it’s all about in this type of matchup, especially I quit rules. You have to bring out the heavy artillery! Roman sent over the top again and Uso looking to fly again and again driving Reigns into the cell. (crowd cheers) (Roman groans) For Jey Uso, he got the mindset of this is like the animal kingdom, Corey. Roman’s the top dog. Jey Uso is trying to knock him off the perch. We’re take another look at Jey Uso risking his own wellbeing to bring the fight to Reigns. And now Roman driven into the cell again. Jey Uso using the cell as a weapon. You. You about to get this work too! You about to get this work too! Huh? Let’s go! (Jey shouts)
And again. As this match progresses, I have to question the strategies of both competitors. Are they looking to submit one another, apply a submission hold, or will somebody just be beaten into submission, forced to say, “I quit”? It appears with moves like these that Jey Uso is trying to beat Reigns into submission. (crowd cheers) Today you about to quit though! Damn! Jey Uso fired up, bringing the fight to the Universal Champion. And aggression out of Jey here tonight that we have not seen. Well, the stakes have never been higher for Jey Uso. Never before has his family’s wellbeing been on the line being forced to be Roman’s indentured servant. Yeah, those the words of Paul Heyman, a quote, “Indentured servant” if Uso loses. And now Roman Reigns with a spear! That’s gotta be it. Now, normally Roman would go for a pinfall here, but there are no pinfalls or submissions. It’s an I quit match tonight. Well, Jey hasn’t said the words yet, but that’s the beginning of the end for any superstar as we look once again at the Universal Champion nearly sawing Jey Uso in half with that spear. (crowd shouts) Jey gasping for air, grasping his midsection. (Jey groans) I didn’t think it was gonna do it. I didn’t think one spear was gonna do it. That’s the thing. Five or 10 minutes, you’re gonna wish you quit right now. Do you understand me? In a few minutes, you gonna wish you never came here. You should’ve kept your ass home. (Roman grunts) Reigns issuing a warning to his own cousin. Just a matter of time before the official grabs the microphone and Jey is forced to scream, “I quit.” Like Roman’s trying to teach Jey Uso a lesson, a lesson in respect to remind Jey who’s at the top of the food chain, who’s the Tribal Chief. (crowd shouts) It’s an old cliche, but the lessons that hurt you worse than they hurt me that are often passed down from your parents or family members. Wait a minute! Oh, now it’s Uso with a sign of life as he delivers a drop kick and drives Reigns into the side of the cell. Could be Roman’s mindset, but I guarantee you this hurts just as bad. And a right hand by Roman stops Jey Uso in his tracks. (crowd boos) The heavy-handed champion connecting just in time. And that’s the thing here, Corey, every time Jey’s tried to rally… Roman Reigns with another spear! This one more massive than the first. Ask him, quit! Just quit! Jey, what do you say? (Jey groans) Still on. He said no, Roman. First off, watch the drop kick when Roman Reigns would not allow Jey to gather any momentum. Every time Jey’s mounted offense, the big dog has shut him down in a hurry. Oh, and that spear, so much more impactful than the first. No doubt, Roman connected extremely high on Jey’s anatomy right in the sternum. Yeah, the first spear went into the midsection, the second of the sternum. Just quit. Just quit. (crowd boos) I’m telling you. I don’t wanna have to go any further. I don’t wanna have to do this. You’re making me a bad guy. We both know Jey Uso, Corey. He has way too much pride to quit in this match. You quit?
I will end you. Jey? I will end you. Jey, you gotta talk. What do you say? Huh? (crowd boos) Uh oh, uh oh again. Oh, this time Jey Uso was able to catch Roman as Roman was going for a third spear, and now a super kick to the jaw. And Jey Uso gonna head up top, Jey Uso trying to get back into this matchup, build some momentum. Adrenaline rush now for Uso. There’s the Uso splash! And again, in a normal match, Jey would go for a cobra there, but this is I quit. (crowd cheers) (Jey coughs)
(Roman groans) Come on, Roman, talk. What do you say? What do you say, Roman? (Roman gasps) No, Jey, he says no. He quit.
No. He quit? Look at this once more, the tremendous height achieved and the impact that follows. Jey Uso soaring through the cell and crashing down. Corey, going up into the other corner now, Jey Uso with Roman Reigns in the middle of the ring and a second Uso splash! (crowd cheers) Jey realizes what he’s got to do, keep his foot on the gas pedal if he wants any chance. Roman, Roman, what do you say? Huh?
You quit? Roman, do you quit?
Quit. You wanna say, “I quit”? He quit. He quit.
Come on, Roman. The head of the table never quits. He says, no, no. “The head of the table never quits,” the words uttered by the champion as we look once more with a second Uso splash on point, but not enough to topple the champion. So what does Jey Uso do now, Corey? He’s hit two Uso splashes, hasn’t gotten Reigns to quit. What do you do next inside Hell in a Cell? This is what I was questioning about Jey Uso’s killer instinct. Does he have what it takes? It’s gonna have to get gruesome. It’s gonna have to get more brutal. I ain’t joking.
(crowd cheers) (chuckles) Oh, this might do it. I think he heard you. A leather strap in the hands of Jey Uso. This is what this has come down to between these cousins, as close as brothers. This is all perfectly legal. (crowd cheers) You. These two men grew up together. Yeah, Paul? Don’t.
What you mean don’t? Don’t! What you mean?
Please don’t. You about to get this work too! Yeah, yeah. Yeah, bitch. (strap slaps) Oh, goodness. You gonna quit today? You gonna quit today? (crowd cheers) (strap slaps) Oh my, sickening. What? (crowd cheers) What? What? What?
(strap slaps) Oh, a third time. Jey Uso just punishing the- Third spear! Oh, a third spear by Reigns, perhaps out of desperation, but Roman Reigns hits a third spear to Jey Uso. (crowd boos) I can’t breathe. You wanna quit?
Oh no. I can’t breathe. Still saying no, Roman. It’s an no. (groans) No. Come on, Jey, you sure, you wanna quit? (Jey groans) Jey, Jey, talk to me. You quit?
No. He said no! Jey Uso refusing to quit. Yeah, but watch this punishing spear. Bulldoze-like spear by Reigns. And now Roman’s got the leather strap in hand. (crowd boos) Strap in here, and you think you can hit me? (Jey groans) You gonna whip me? (strap slaps) Oh God. You gonna whip me? I do the whipping around here! Oh, I bet you (indistinct). I know what you want me to do. (strap slaps) (crowd boos)
(Jey groans) Stings to the back right here. I seen this happen a lot. (crowd boos)
(Jey groans) The leather strap connecting with Jey Uso’s flesh, echoing throughout the ThunderDome. And again!
Oh God. (crowd boos) Just quit, Jey. Yeah, how much more can Jey Uso take? (crowd boos) (Roman chatters) Roman tying up the wrist now of Jey Uso. This didn’t have to happen Reigns keeps reminding Uso. You’re gonna learn to respect me. That way everybody respects me. Oh my God, no, God almighty. (Jey screams)
(crowd boos) Come on, Jey. Do you quit? Huh? Jey, do you quit?
No! No! Still says no, Roman. (crowd boos) And it’s one thing to have pride. It’s another thing to have a suicide wish. (Jey groans) Roman Reigns is grinning ear to ear. (crowd boos) We’ve just begun. You ain’t going nowhere. (Jey grunts) You made it on the island. I’m gonna show you (indistinct). Now we show you. (Jey groans) (Roman chatters) (Jey groans) Oh, and USO now with a right hand stunning Reigns, and Roman with a forearm. (crowd shouts) Jey again. Now Roman regrouping. This is a testament to the toughness of Jey Uso. Few men can stand toe to toe and throw down with the big dog like Jey USO is. And a kick this time. Roman back against the rope, but still on his feet. And both men are tied up now in this leather strap. And went for the Superman punch, and Uso uses the strap to his advantage. And now Jey Uso with a strap, gonna use it as a weapon, gonna tie up Roman Reigns. This may be what does it. This is what it’s gonna take, this level of brutality. Jey Uso, with everything he’s got, trying to force Reigns to quit. Roman, talk to me, what do you say? No! (Jey grunts) All perfectly legal under the sadistic rules of this match. Roman, do you quit? Roman may pass out. Roman. Yeah, but he’s gotta utter the words, Corey. He has to say, “I quit.”
You gotta say, “I quit.” Come on, Roman. He’s out, he’s out.
Roman. He’s out.
Roman, hey. Roman. Roman appears to be out. Maybe not. Roman reigns that last gasp perhaps. Jey Uso continuing the pressure on the champion on his cousin. (Roman groans) (Jey grunts) (crowd cheers) Reigns, once again, motionless. Now Roman may be out. Now the officials gotta decide what to do. Quit? Roman. (crowd cheers) [Jey] He quit. Did he quit? Roman.
Did he quit? Did he quit? Did he quit? He shook his head no. He’s not quitting, Jey. (crowd cheers) Say what you want about Roman Reigns. He’s a warrior. So is Jey Uso. And now Jey Uso has to… We’re trying to figure out, Corey, what do I have to do to get Roman Reins to say, “I quit.” I think Jey just figured out his next step. (crowd shouts) (Jey chatters) We gonna end this. Paul Heyman’s seen a lot in his career. Corey, he can’t even believe what’s going on. (crowd shouts) And Roman Reigns with a Superman punch! The hesitation perhaps may have cost Jey Uso. Roman could be looking for the guillotine. There it is. This is what took out Braun Strowman. Guillotine, center of the ring. Will Jey Uso say, “I quit”? Jey, do you wanna quit?
Jey fighting desperately. You wanna quit, Jey? Do you wanna quit, Jey? I swear to God, I’ll take your last breath with all my strength.
Gotta tell me, Jey. What do you say? He’s quit.

Roman, come on! (steps clunk) Enough, come on. (crowd shouts) (officials chatter) Those officials are out here for the wellbeing of Jey Uso, just chased off by the Tribal Chief. Look at him.
I’m looking at him. (Roman chatters) (officials chatter) Somebody’s gotta do something. Nobody could do anything. Roman Reigns is outta control. This is too far. That’s your family, Roman! You’re not listening to me! Don’t do this, man. Come on! Since we were little boys. Since we were kids. You knew I was better. Roman, he’s done.

(bell rings) I quit. I quit. I quit. (crowd boos) Here is your winner and still the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. (crowd boos)
