I’ve gone on every kind of golf trip imaginable, but this is the first one where golf (at least for me) is taking a back seat and my primary goal is to soak in all the vibes of both the journey and the destination.

I’m off to Utah for the Bank of Utah Championship hosted at Black Desert Resort, where I’ll be partaking in all sorts of extracurriculars. Of course I’m carving out time to scope out the only venue that’s hosted both the LPGA and PGA TOUR in a single season—but this is also an opportunity to see how a new golf resort is creating its own little haven out west.

From dinners overlooking lava rocks to a guided sand-buggy tour of Zion National Park it’s a jam-packed trip and figuring out looks has been a fun and unique challenge. For my ladies who may be headed on a golf trip where golf isn’t the sole focus, here’s a mixed and matched guide to give you a couple of ideas.

Fellas, pretend this is just an extra, extra early holiday gift guide and bookmark a few things for her!

The Plane Fit

How you start a trip off is arguably the most important part. You want to make sure things get off on the right foot and ensure that you’re equal parts stylish and comfortable.

There’s a couple of ways to get down to Black Desert, but I opted for the route of flying direct to Las Vegas from NYC and making the scenic two-hour drive down to Ivins, Utah. The other option is to snag a connecting flight into the St. George Regional airport about eight miles from the resort.

No matter your poison, you’re going to want something cozy to fly in. I tend to go the casual route for my airport fits (think sweatshirt, leggings, and a go-to pair of sneakers)—and what I wear on the way there is serving up double duty for the trip home, too. We’re efficient packers around here!

The newest fleece crewneck from Sierra Madre has me in a chokehold and you better believe I’m wearing it on my way to the home of the best Real Housewives franchise. (I am slightly bummed I won’t be passing through Salt Lake.)

Walking With the Pros

While a good portion of my trip will be spent taking in the glory of southern Utah, you better believe I’m watching the pros take on this green oasis surrounded by red rocks and lava.

I love being a spectator because I get to mess around with my staple golf pieces and create looks that skew more fashion forward, yet remain course appropriate.

Don’t over think it or feel the need to go too outside of your comfort zone, and leave the golf shoes at home (unless they’re spikeless). Here’s what I’m rocking to the first round of the championship.

Get in Loser! We’re Going Off-Roading

Yeah, you read that right. One of the items on this insanely cool itinerary is a special trip to Zion National Park to participate in a little off-roading sand dune adventure.

Hiking isn’t really my scene, but we’re doing things for the plot on this trip. I mean how could you not?! I refuse to let these views go to waste.

I’m not quite sure what to expect on this adventure, all I know is that I’m ready to get behind the wheel and find myself in a different kind of bunker (well sand dune, but you know what I mean).

We’re going sporty girl chic for this one—and the shoes matter!
