The Course with the CRAZIEST Hole 1 In Disc Golf?!

This is hole one of a really cool course at Bailey, Colorado called Glenn Isle Disc Golf Cours. It’s at a resort. And this is a par three, 574 ft of a 21 hole Bigfoot layout of a course that I’ve only played one other time. Last time I played it, it’s not even par. Today, we’re going to try to do better than that. I’m gonna throw a couple warm-ups. Inner core down the mountain. [Music] See how this function does. The wind is kind of ripping right now. [Music] Oh, that is such a cool shot. And then my first official shot will hopefully give me at worst a par cuz this is crazy as a par three to start. In fact, it’s so crazy this course has three par fours, but this is the longest hole. I can’t really think of any other more intense starting holes in disc golf that are par threes. If you can definitely let me know. I’d love to come and play them. But basically 600T shot straight out of the car is nuts. I don’t really know what to think. So I’m just going to kind of throw flip over. Flip over. Oh well, I’m up on the hill. Hopefully I can get a par. Welcome back to Course Quest, my series where before I move out of Denver in a couple months, I’m trying to play all of the mountain courses within 75 milei radius and all the local courses. And we’re getting pretty far into the mountains. Only, I think, six videos left, maybe five after this one. And I should be able to get them all filmed this month before the snow really starts coming down. And the point of the series is to try to shoot a thousand rated at all these courses, which is about 250 on UDIS. And we use the UDIS rating for our leaderboard over here, and give the courses a scorecard based off of a bunch of different factors. Some of them a little more factual. And then the last one, just kind of my opinion. Would I want to come back and play it again? This course I have not come back and played for a long time. And in that time, I actually called the owner cuz there’s a new sign up there that says, “Hey, call them to reserve a tea time.” Cuz apparently they’ve been having people not treat their property very well. And was totally fine to have me play the course. Paid the $10 payto-play fee. But he let me know that since I’ve been here before, since I told him I was here a year and a half ago, they’ve updated a decent bit. They have the same baskets that were here before. They’re the Prodigy premium baskets. I like that they’re red. They’re going to be really easy to see on camera today. But he said all 21 holes now have teapads, which is awesome. I’m not going to try to think about scores too much. Just try to play my best and beat past Anthony cuz I shot even par here. I would love to get an underpar round. I remember there were a couple par4s, a lot of elevation change, and if I remember correctly, this is one of the more stunning mountain courses. So, hopefully you guys enjoy this video. If you’re new to the course quest series, go ahead and subscribe. I’m not procrastinating having to throw this up shot because it’s a little scary. Never me. Get around it. Well, looks like we’re going have to start with a good putt. No fade. What the hook? That was a good catch. That was pushed right. Thanks, buddy. I do have the course all to myself today, so far at least, which is pretty sweet. And hole 2 is 28 ft right there. I remember there being a ditch to the left that I found myself in, and I’ve never done it this early. But in this series, I give myself an ace run hole, which I’ve not utilized yet, where I throw five shots. The first one counts, unless I ace, and then the ace counts. This will actually help me determine some things on the debate and putting this pretty sweet inner core in the bag that maybe you guys can get your hands on later in the year versus the watt H. This is supposed to be a birdie hole in our core. [Music] Maybe I throw that one for the rest of the day. Get through there. Ah, there’s some trees in this hole. And the other two that I’m debating changing in the bag, the Stig I think is a little too flippy even up here in the mountains. I don’t trust it enough. This is a new Prodigy disc that’s coming out at Black Friday called the M5. They sent it to me in a bunch of different plastics and it is a really good feeling, understable, shallower kind of M4 mid, similar to an Origin feel. And this stamp is really cool and my daughter really likes these. So, I put it in the bag against the stick. But I think this is actually going to replace the stick cuz I feel more confident with it already. Threw one warm-up with it. See, I think the stick would have flipped a little more. And throwing that soft, I’d rather it not. I just kind of misreleased the shot. [Music] That would have gone in. That definitely would have taken the cake. But I think I’m going to keep the M5 in the bag. No guts, no glory. Oh, am I going to start bogie bogey? No. Oh, there’s no bueno. Senor Prodigy. It was a little left side, but I thought I made that putt. We do have some nice next hole signs right there. So, we can pop our way up cuz I think we switch back up the mountain for like five holes and then play on top of the ridge and then come right back down. It is surprising how much wind is kind of whipping through this place. When you’re down there, it feels so wooded and secluded. But then I just kind of looked back this way and you could see kind of how open it is. It’s kind of sparse up there. And then the trees are just moving. Well, I just went and ran all the way down there. I got my sphinx. That’s a shot for this hole. Skip up there. Oh, no. No. No. Oh, good second tree. The shot I’m about to throw is the perfect example. And I’m sure it’s mostly psychological, but the stig in my hand, maybe because it feels a little faster than a mid, is not something I’d want to throw here. Even though throwing that hiser with this tree in the way is a little tricky. Actually, I penned it. But that’s the play. Throwing a hiser for me is a comfortable angle up the hill. For some reason, the stick I feel like is either too flippy or too fast. So, I’m going to throw the M5 and hopefully give myself a nice look for birdie. We got a putt, folks. We got a putt for bird. This is a slopier course than I remember. Everything has been on slopes, even more so than like other mountain courses. Got one back. And again, hiking up four 210 super slopey green. This looks like a green you would love to land in a forehand kind of angled. I think there’s enough shy up there to stop a backhand. So, I think we’re going to throw the inner core. Little headwind. Want to finish up left of the basket. So, if it does roll a bit, it’s rolling towards it instead of away. Not straight. Not overstable enough. But that’s another putt. It’s going to be the most effortful 20 foot putt of my life here. Honestly, I need the extra 8 in in this apartment. Better stay comfy with those straddles. Much easier stability on these slopes. Hey, no pars yet. Let’s keep it that way. But like only get birdies from now on. 258 straight straight shot. This is the type of course that makes me love disc golf. Even more gaps, baskets that the camera can see pretty easy cuz they’re so contrary to the rest of the landscape. Looks like you want something that turns for most of the flight and then get straight. And it’s interesting. This wind seems to be shifting so much now. It seems to be going up the hill. Over there it seems to be going down. So maybe it’s like a bowl. I don’t know. I’m not a windyologist. I think tomb on a touch of flex is the play. Could be compass too cuz that’s a little straighter. I don’t know why the compass feels more comfortable for me. And I think in previous videos I’d be way too stubborn to switch. But for some reason today I’m feeling like actually listening to myself. I think listening to me was a mistake. Get to practice my scrambles. I take back what I said on the last hole about not getting any pars. I really want to par here. Okay, I have chicane and MD5, which is a little more of a stable. I put it in the bag. There’s a straight gap right here, which is so silly to do, but the best line that right tree in my head is so close to the middle of the fairway. So, I’m just telling myself I have enough room to flex it inside of that tree and hit the line. So, I’m going to throw the MD5. I put this in the bag. It’s the last change for the Swarm cuz the Swarm I think was very overstable. And this was also very overstable, but not quite as overstable as I wanted in Denver. So, I think switching them will give both of those bags what I want from them. Come on. Yeah, I think it could also just be psychological. Maybe they are similar, but in my head, I would have had to flex the swarm so much more and that’s more comfortable shot. So, I’m trying to change bags to account for either the real differences I see or the idiosyncrasies in my head. Okay, I thought I’d give myself a putt. Didn’t expect it to roll down for me. Maybe that’s cuz I’m filming with Lucas Carmichael for our practice round for the Beaver Ranch tournament. Put that in the bag. Maybe partially because of that, too. But I think it is just trying to get the right stabilities to Martha the discs. I’m hoping to take him down in the practice round, which video will come hopefully Sunday with his own disc. We’re going to hang out and down some fuel for the day since I’m not really a breakfast person. Hope they don’t eat until like noon or 1:00, which with filming these videos, not a good recipe. So, I always try to bring food. Beautiful views here. We’re going that way. 170 ft. This would be a sick a turn hole. Gorgeous. Pack it in, pack it out. That’s at any course, but especially up here in the mountains at these private courses. Respect people’s properties, otherwise the courses go away. It’s kind of hard cuz I don’t remember what’s beyond it. I think I just want to throw the intercore right at it. Oh yeah. Oh, that’s a good result for not making that putt. I am not mad at that. So on even par. I really think for my sake. I know it wouldn’t be like the 250 right around, but anything under par I’d be pretty happy with right now. Getting back into the series. 415 ft though. Straight headwind straight down the mountain. Jeez, it is just blowing straight uphill. I think one of the MVPs of the series that we have yet to throw so far is the Brabird. Still has a sticker going strong. I think throwing it kind of at the left side of this gap on a little turn will have it hold. I think you just want a straighter disc or honestly I’m gonna throw it on a forehand with the goal of getting a three. If I get a two, that’s great. But trying to get a three. I’ll just hit that tree and kick right to the basket. Oh, I hit the tree and kick down, which is equally good for my purposes. It is so tempting to run this putt. My goal coming in here was a par. Let’s leave with it. I really wanted to run that. This course just keeps getting different and cool shots around every turn. I’m really enjoying this. Straight up the gap. You could throw a little flexi. You could really throw around it, but 191. I think this is where the MD5’s overstability shines. Get a little skip up. That’s short, but through the gap. Not as bad as I thought actually. Not that short. Str got to be the play though. No. Okay. Cannot seem to find my way under par here. Now is the time. 244 ft. Drop off behind. Looks like I don’t think those are mandos, but this is like the Viking hole. I don’t know exactly why, but M5 I think could work. But because it’s been an MVP and has yet to bird D and we are even through seven more than three. It’s the broadbird for me. [Music] Find a way buddy. Okay. That was atrocious but it was doing something. I obviously haven’t watched that back but I’m sure if you do you’ll see an alignment issue where my feet and where I’m running up are pretty much right through that disc and I needed to be aiming much leter. But since the broadbird knows who’s boss, it still gave me a circle two putt. Maybe the problem is I’ve been getting too close. Not the problem. See a little red peeking out over there. Nice downhill shorty. Getting a little desperate for birdies. Good thing 21 whole course. Got 11 to play and I’m even par. Looks like the best shot is just a pushing higher through this right gap with a putter. Oh, get off of it. What? This is making me really happy that I’m playing this before I go to Beaver Ranch because in the time since the last video in the mountains that I shot, I’ve played down at sea level in northern South Carolina and I played Denver like two times. So, not surprising to me kind of figuring these guys out again cuz that 250 rated didn’t explain it before, but if I can’t shoot it, one of the discs from my bag or custom discs goes in my bounty bin, which you can win by coming to a course and beating my score. And obviously, if I don’t shoot well, it’s easier to come to the course and beat my score. And I have to put a disc in the bin. I think chicane touch a forehand. Try to land it way short and have it skip up. Well, I did land it way short. Just unintentionally. Headwind coming up the hill. Aim low. Not that low. Deserved. Well, 12 looks pretty sick. 387 feet. kind of a turnover shot or a flip up forehand. I think this eyebend emperor is flippy enough that I can throw it. Honestly, I’m debating throwing the Alva, but I think if I just throw this on a touch of hiser, there’s a headwind here, so it should stand it up. And even if I finish right or down the hill, should be easy par. Oh man, I got to find my birdies. This is starting. It’s not quite dire yet, but it could get there soon. Stay through that. Yes. No. Okay, that was at a good pace. At least it’s that pretty. We just chicane. Nice. Did I miss a hole? This whole round’s a sham. I skipped hole nine. Oh no. I’ll play it before I play 21. It’s not super close, but it’s close enough. Well, 400 ft right down there. Beautiful hole. Inner core M4. You just have the low ceiling, so the only thing I’m worried about, but I think inner core is the play. No. Come on. Ah, just wanted to set me up for the highlight. I can appreciate that. This would be crazy. That was a wild play. I don’t know what went through my head for that one. Let’s go. You guys want to watch me throw this shot? Oh no. 14 264 up the hill straight with a little fade. They ran away. So now I’m going to have to throw a good shot to spite them. I do got a back stop. So, I think I would throw the M5 or the Compass cuz of the distance, but Sphinx might be money cuz it’s a little faster, a little easy flipping N-speed, and it can ride, and I feel more comfortable throwing it higher since it’s a faster disc. The good thing is we have eight holes to play, well, nine because of whole nine that I skipped. And when the series is called Course Conquest, it would always surprise me how like bad I can play for stretches of the round and still shoot a thousand rated cuz that was the whole goal. I’d have to go back to the course unless I shot 1,000 rated, which is a crazy thing to do for all these courses. Now, I just know, hey, let’s settle down. I’m going to try to master some zen throwing. Just be calm, collected, not try to rush. I’m on a touch of a time crunch, but it’s not going to make me any faster throwing more shots. It’ll make me faster by slowing down and throwing better shots that I don’t have to throw off shots from. So, we’ll try that. [Music] It’s [Music] 245 up the hill. [Music] Start to get through those. That’s good enough. Okay. So, can I have a buddy from outside the bullseye? [Music] [Music] That was exactly my spot. I cannot get under par for the life of me. It’s all right. Zen, zen, zen. This big hiser looks really enticing. And you know what? I’m going to do it. [Music] I don’t like that tree branch. Bit of a gambling man shot there, but I got a putt. [Music] Oh, how do I throw it over the basket? 297 straight headwind cuz if I hit it by that tree, it’ll skip forward cuz it’s going downhill. It’ll also skip up, but not too far up because of the grade of the hill. It’ll kind of straighten it out. Yes, exactly the plan. Just sit. I thought I was going to square that tree. That’s pretty good. I’m so d for one of these. Not doing enough that I won’t flip it, though. [Music] Well, 21 is a sick downhill par4. Definite eagle chance. So, let’s get a couple birdies, finally get under par, and then eagle that one to finish with a solid round. More zen, less talking, better throwing, and getting back to that hole that we skipped. That’s the recipe for success. [Music] Huh? [Music] All right. [Music] Okay. Well, at least I’m under par. Let’s try to get to three or four. I don’t think that’ll be enough. I think I need to shoot six or seven. Hole 21, I believe, is an eagleable par four, but let’s go find hole nine. Come on. Birdie birdie finish be clutch. Sometimes it’s just not your day. Could be something to do with the brow bird in the watt. Not really birdieing and me trying to change the lot for the inner core. I don’t know if that’s some bamboo, but uh so this was the basket. Oh, that makes sense. The tead’s right there. The next tead’s right there. I somehow just missed that one and skipped up to that one. I really want to go for an eagle on the last hole and I don’t think I can get there with the broadbird. So, I have to birdie here cuz if push comes to shove, I am willing to sacrifice the eagle for keeping my birdie streak alive with the broadbird. Could have thrown a forehand a couple of holes ago, but Sphinx is putting in work for me up here. Woo! Go! If that didn’t roll, it’s actually not bad. That is not what I wanted to do, though. That kind of looked funky, too. Unfortunate roll, but there’s a putt. I’m still due for one of these. Come on. Well, hopefully it didn’t roll too far. Otherwise, I might need an eagle to get under par. I don’t see it. Shoot. It’s so maybe I should try to eagle with the broadbird. Not my best showing. This is kind of my nemesis mountain course so far. It’s going to be one of the easier bounties to collect. So, of course, you have to play it after I posted the video. All the other bounties will be listed down in the description for what you have to do for the scores you need to shoot to win them versus the ones that have been claimed, which is only one so far. This course, I will say, cost definitely only $1 sign. Incredible value for money. I think nothing really crazy stuck out to me the first time I played this. And I don’t know if it’s because all the courses felt so much more challenging for me when I was first playing it. I would love to come back here and try to shoot under par, but that’ll likely have to be for a future year and a future me. But for shot shaping, I’m going to have to give it a five out of five. You can throw any shot you want here. Forehands, backhands, gap shots, short shots, long shots. This the first five out of five. There are a couple par fours. It’d be great if there’s a par five, so like maybe 4.9, but I basically only do halves. So, it’s going to be a five out of five. X factor, I’d say yes. I think it’s fun having this little Viking hole. I think the elevation and the slopes that you’re throwing on every single hole are just intense. And a couple nice par4s with how tricky everything is is really sweet. Accessibility is going to have to be a one too much up and down and really long. Uh, getting here is fine, but this is testing my fitness as well as my disc golf game. Both of which have not been on point today. So, amenities, I’d say maybe a three. Teapads are really nice. They’re all level. They’ve been put in recently. I don’t love the baskets, but that could just be a personal thing. You know what? I’m not throwing well anyways. It would be silly for me to try to eagle cuz I’ll probably just end up with a birdie. So, I might as well keep the streak alive and throw a banger shot with the broad bird way over the top. If I really get a hold of it, I might be able to eagle it. But my overall score for this place, I’ll tell you after I uh e this hole. And if I don’t eagle it, I’ll still tell you. Don’t worry. 555. Looks like a flex forehand. I don’t feel any crazy drafts. So, I think to keep the broadbird birdie streak alive, it’s going to have to I’m just going to force it way over as high and nose down as I can. Try to throw the best shot of the day. Maybe give myself a look for the two, but ultimately birdie plays because that also gets me under par, which is kind of my sub goal, beating my pass self. Not really close, but it should be a simple up and down birdie. [Music] Nice and easy. There’s a lot of wind at this course. No eagle, so I’ll still tell you I think this course for me is going to be an 8.8. Very highly rated. 10 bucks I feel like is a really good deal, especially for like how sick hole one is and how challenging it’s been. Come on, easy birdie. Don’t think one under par. I beat my old self, but I’m sure it’s not 250. Here’s the rating. I’m going to guess 220, but you’ll know. Fun course. I’ll be back.

Today I play Glen Isle, one of the most challenging mountain courses in the Front Range near Denver, CO. It gets started with what might be the most wild par 3 starting hole in all of disc golf. Good luck.

  1. If you know of (or can argue for) any other insane par 3 starting holes, PLEASE let me know which courses they're at because I'd love to put them on my bucket list!

  2. Question. Do you carry any protection in case you encounter say bears or mountain lions?

  3. hey my dude. ran into you a few weeks ago, but you didn't want to challenge. i'm beyond ma 40 but let's do this with you and Jesse vs me and my brother. I'll sponsor you for a year if you beat us!!!!!

  4. There was definitely a foot fault on that parent pending on 3.
Your lie was your left foot, which you lifted to rotate around your right.
I see it happen all the time on a patent pending. People loose track of which foot is on the lie.

  5. My favorite mountain course I have played, so far. Cross Creek is a close second but just outside your 75 mile radius. Still absolutely worth checking out.

  6. I have a course in my region, “Emery State Park” and the opening hole boasts whopping 1400 ft. (from gold tees) traversing down a SKI SLOPE!!! (8-900ft. from whites, but 1400 from Golds!)

Just about the most technically, skills savvy, and thought provoking courses out there. That is if you have the arm to make the intended shots! 😅✌🏻

18 hole course, you need a minimum of 3 solid hours to shoot a full round.

  7. Was just out there yesterday. Absolutely amazing course now with tee pads on each hole. Pro level course and very difficult!

One suggestion- on the last screen that shows your scores at each course, also show your out of 10 rating.

  8. I miss Bailey DGC, that top of the world to begin and end was so much fun to huck plastic on.

  9. I think Lille Leland in Norway has the most insane hole 1, 800 ft par 3, crazy downhill but very tough shot. You get a hat if you birdie it in competition.

  10. The 600ft par 3 reminds me alot of hole 7 at woodlawn park in moorhead mn its 400Ft at slight uphill so it plays pretty long (or im just bad which is probable) if you come up to mn next year you should try it! also stop at acorn park in minneapolis one of my favorites ive ever played

  11. Crystal Mountain, Greenwater Wa…..You take a gondola 2 miles up a mountain. Play back down to parking lot. Ski slopes with mount Rainier views.

  12. O-H-I-O. Remeber last week at badlands tags. I expressed my dislike of prodigy baskets. The baskets at Glen isle is why I have that opinion. You have experienced the prodigy curse. Even with the baskets. Glen isle is a top 10 course in colorado
