LIHU’E, Hawaii – Santa Clara women’s golf is off to an outstanding start at the 2025 Rainbow Wahine Invitational thanks to an 8-under 280 performance in Monday’s opening round at the par 72, 6,041-yard Ocean Course. The score is tied for the second-lowest team round in program history.

All five Broncos finished the day inside the top 30 in the standings. Sophomore Proud Sriwongngam and junior Kelsey Kim each shot 3-under 69 to tie each other for sixth place while Alexa Pineda finished a stroke behind at 2-under 70.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:

Santa Clara tallied 18 birdies, tied with San Diego State for the most of the day. The Broncos find themselves just one stroke back from Baylor (279) for the lead with 36 holes remaining.
SCU’s 8-under 280 is tied with the team’s performance at the 2024 Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational second round and 2018 UC Irvine Invitational second round for the second-lowest round in program history.
Sriwongngam held a share of the individual lead for a bulk of the back half of the round at 5-under before a double bogey on the par 3 No. 8 hole brought her back to 3-under. It was the lone blemish on her scorecard that included five total birdies as part of a career-best 3-under 69.
Kim also rolled in five birdies on the day to offset a pair of bogeys. She now has a team-best six rounds under par on the season.
Pineda had just one bogey on her card (also on No. 8) to finish the day tied for 12th at 2-under 70.
Chloe Lam shot even par to tie for 22nd and Audrey Brust was just one stroke over the minimum to tie for 29th.
Baylor’s Yurang Li and Ema Narita of San Diego State lead the field at 5-under 67.
