This week sees the start of a new chapter in the DP World Tour’s long association with India with the inaugural DP World India Championship. Taking place at the historic Delhi Golf Club and co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the DP World India Championship underscores India’s growing influence as a destination for elite golf. Career Grand Slam winner McIlroy makes his first appearance in India this week with a return to competitive action after helping Europe win the Ryder Cup at Bethpage. With two wins already on the Race to Dubai this season at the Masters Tournament and Amgen Irish Open, the World Number Two will be looking to strengthen his grip on the Race to Dubai title ahead of the DP World Tour Play-Offs. Joining him are Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland and Shane Lowry and Luke Donald. From the U.S. Ryder Cup side, American Major winner Brian Harman and two-time PGA TOUR winner Ben Griffin are in the field hoping to delight the fans in Delhi. The DP World India Championship is the eighth of nine events in the Back 9 on the 2025 Race to Dubai, building towards the season-ending DP World Tour Play-Offs.

Out with the three wood for Tommy. Big wide fairway. This if you can find the ninth which is narrow, you can find this one without an issue. [Applause] got some fight in him yet. Shane Larry, same to this man Tommy Fleetwood who might have got a little read off Nakima. Not many. Well, he’s taken full advantage. That putter is on fire. Excellent atmosphere from the seventh. [Music] No wind, you know. You can’t tuck them away from these guys. They are like thieves in the night. He knew what he’ done there. Just came over the top of that one very slightly. shuts the face down. And sometimes you look at it and go, “Okay, yeah, it’s hard, but I I I have only one choice.” That’s the only good thing about it. Open it up and just cut through the the Bermuda. [Applause] on top of the pile alongside this man who’s trying to stay there. And he should have a little bit of right to left on it. This P. What a great that is. Very good P that. What a good up and down. Clench clenched fist. The average is 164 yds and the flag being on the front front right. You don’t want to come up shy. Got to be a nine iron. Surely he’s not going to massage. You’ll have eyes for it though. Has eyes for an up and down. tapped away tight left, but certainly a good birdie chance. Not a bad lie. Downhill all the way, which is a good thing. You can kind of chunk and chase this one close. quite stone dead. [Music] Brave boy, don’t you just love it out with the baffy? Isn’t it brilliant when we’re calling, you know, three and five brave? It’s that kind of golf course. A real unique challenge and a tricky one at that. finds a fairway. It certainly is. Job done well. We thought it might suit. Just a wedge from 142. He’s flipped a couple left. The last two iron shots. [Applause] The body stops and the arms keep going and you just flip it a little. It’s a matter of millimeters into the grain straight up the hill. It’s another one that doesn’t want to bend a heap. Tough gig to get it to the hole though. It’s very slow. Well, he’s pretty much got it there. I think he’ll probably come around and mark that one. More aggressive off the tea. He’s been wonderful with his club off the tea today. It’s been an exhibition. No help in there, no hurt, nothing. It’s like playing golf in your lounge room. Wonderful setup. Always looks correct. Runner finds the short grass. Out with a little spoon. 236. Trying to hit this into orbit with plenty of loft and get it to come down softly. Had a similar shot on the par 58 and made a mockery of the shot on that par five. Just hit it straight to the heart of it. That flare was right. This one’s right. Okay, Trav probably on the up slope. I would say I’d say that’s going to be okay. How? Yeah, up slope. I’d say he’s got plenty of room to work with there. Flat lie. Didn’t get any ups slope. So difficult with green going away from you. [Applause] Pass the flag which was touch surprising. Not quite executed as he would have seen. Luck required when that’s the case. a little higher up this green than Nakajima. So it’s fairly flat just out of his left for a two stroke lead. [Music] There you go. It’s exactly what Flewood has. Four to go. That was just a little bit special to the left. on the last 2100. Long eye, short hole. This 15. He’s going to have to go up and over the trees from there, but that’s all right. Just poking him there with about four yards. 16 ft of draw. back over the flag. 20 ft for his birdie. Should we get him to 22 under par just out of his left? He’s aiming more out of the left than I had it. downgrade him quick for his third. His fourth beat in the park. They’re at 15. He keeps his two stroke lead. That was well hauled. That was not easy. That was a couple of feet easy downhill, left to right. Come on, Tommy. Tommy, go Tommy. How about it? 253 to find the fairway past the tree down the right, the lone tree. Who were our fantasy picks this week? And what was the winning score? What is going to Wayne score? Wayne, dear me, I don’t know. You’re looking good for 22. I’ve got to say 161 for Tommy. Eight time. Right where you want them. Smack dab in the middle of the fairway. Fairways and greens. That is what this course require. He’s done it better than anyone. Right down the heart of the green. No mistake. One hand on that trophy. It’s close, isn’t it? Now that’s a Fleetwood to take full control hitting hitting. See he stays behind. Two holes left to play. Necima’s got a power pack coming up here. If he doesn’t roll that one in, then we’ll give him a three shot lead, begging for it. At least it stuck it heels in on the slope. Clambered up onto the top level, didn’t it? But Tommy is slamming the door here in India. That might be the biggest moment of the day for Fleetwood who for now is three clear. Never anywhere else. Was it this one from about 5t we got from the camera above. Relentless. Silence falls over Delhi Golf Club. Good shot. It’s a rare thing. So too is that drive straight down the middle for Tommy Fleetwood. And the flag’s over on the left. Perched over a bunker. Forget about it. I can’t see this going anywhere but a little right. [Applause] on the line he wanted to hit it on. Just needed two more yards through the air. It’s just fine, Richard. Yeah, it’s perfect. It’s just fine. Yeah. Doesn’t need to force the issue. A wonderful scene to produce the last gem of a pitch. [Applause] Safely there. The first smile that we’ve seen break through on Tommy Fleetwood’s face. And then Tommy Fleetwood, the last man standing on it. This to win by three. It’s going to be two, but it still belongs to him. Tommy Fleetwood is the first name edged on the Lotus Trophy. He is the DP World India Champion for 2025. Thank you. Go give it a hug. Yeah. Thank you, Tommy. A huge congratulations. You’ve just gained your eighth DP World tour win at the DP World India Championship. How does that feel? Yeah, lovely. Um it you know it was actually at the start of the week I think last well done actually since Rder Cup you know a few questions about uh I had made it to the uh final two events of the year and things like I had qualified anyway and um and I said like I feel like for all the good that’s happened this year couple of things have disappointing me that my sort of DP world DP world tour year sort of has. So um yeah another win feels great. It’s the second win of the season. You said to me at the start of the week that you had more things to achieve this year. a win being one of them. But how extra special is it that it’s a win in front of Frankie for the first time? Well, he um so we were at home last week and we were driving the boogie. I think we were playing golf together and he says uh he just said randomly said, “Do you know what you’ve never done?” So, you’ve never won a tournament and then I’ve been able to run onto the 18th grain and I was like, I’m writing that down. So, uh I had that written down all week. Um like I said, it’s just another opportunity really. There’s going to be many more times where I hopefully get the chance to do that, but that was like all day today had in my mind uh you know, could I put myself in a position where I can actually make that moment happen. So, it’s just one of those little things. It means a lot to me. Like, it means so much to me. Um and that was that was really cool. That’s what I wanted to do all day. That’s what was in your mind, was it? Across course, the back nine. Um I want to touch on golf specific. There was that clutch pass save at 11, which felt like momentum wise was a big difference for you. And obviously coming off the back of yesterday afternoon, we spoke about putting and how it was a little frustrating in the back nine. But what a brilliant response. And in terms of what you can take from this round, from this win is putting and a response to what happened on Saturday. Quite a big part of that. Yeah, of course. Everything’s an opportunity to uh respond in the best way you can, whether it’s good or bad. And I said yesterday, I felt like I puted great yesterday except for that four, five hole stretch. Practiced afterwards and I actually um again, you look at opportunities. First hole today. I had a sixfooter on the first left to right and I I actually thought at the time I thought this is a great way to start like a different day like get some momentum with the put. I feel good with it. I put it amazing today. I really really did. Um that wasn’t going to reach the hole on the last I was just cozying that one up. Um, but yeah, I I put it amazing and down the stretch I felt like I held some great puts, like mid-range puts, but like you say, I felt like after gaining some momentum, just that one in 11, um, I hit a couple of poor shots there, 11 and 12, but that put was big and managed to just keep it going throughout the nine. Um, you seem to be the king of responding to things both in a micro level of responding to what happened putting wise on uh, Saturday and on a grander scale of coming close so many times and getting the win at the tour championship. just give us an insight into your mindset because I know you’ve spoken on family and being a leader within your family and the example that you want to set before. Is that would you say the thing that creates that superpower for you? I think so. Yeah, I think um everybody needs something to push them or to motivate them. I um yeah, I pride myself on trying to have the best attitude possible at all times. And yeah, there’s plenty of times when things haven’t gone my way. Um but you know, last two tournaments I’ve been in contention everyone, so maybe things are starting to even out a little bit. I just uh yeah I I just I I I love working on my game. I love uh having all these experiences which help me sort of pass it down to my kids or to anybody that uh is interested in listening because I feel like I’ve got, you know, information to give there through all those through all those things. So yeah, I um like I say, I just want to give myself the best possible chance of playing well each and every week. So that’s that goes from practice to how you think to how you are and that’s all I try and do really. Yeah, we are very interested in listening and watching. It’s been a joy. Tommy, we’ll let you go celebrate with the family. Thanks, honey. Thank you. Congratulations. Thank you very much. It’s a big one. It’s a beautiful one. Thank you so much. Wasn’t every shot tho was it?
Fairway woods like a laser beam. What a player!
I reckon about 80-85 feet of putts on the back 9. That's pretty clutch…if he keeps putting like this then he's up there with anyone, his ball striking is up there with the best (even if not on the back 9). Go Tommy
Brilliant performance, Tommy! You've been the best player on the planet for the past couple of months. I sincerely hope you can claim a Majors title in 2026 ❤
Not a very good advertisement for golf companies trying to sell drivers.
