Can You Replace a Damaged Club?๐ค
A serious club problem brings a rules official onto the scene. The official arrives, picks up the putter, and inspects it closely. Zoomedin footage even shows the shaft bent near the head. At the 2014 Wells Fargo Championship, Chess Hadley’s caddy tripped while walking, and the player’s putter ended up slightly bent. Under the rules, unintentional damage to a club is allowed, meaning the player may replace the club if the damage was accidental. The key is whether the damage was deliberate. The official determined it was not intentional and Hadley chose to continue with the same putter.
