Fleetwood & McIlroy vs Morikawa & English | Full Highlights | 2025 Ryder Cup
Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and welcome to the first day of the 45th RDER Cup. This is match number three. A forsome match between the European team represented by Rory Maroy and Tommy Fleetwood against the United States of America team represented by Ka Morawa and Harris English. First on the tea representing Europe, Rory Maroy returns to the Ryder Cup. A major Grand Slam winner. No one won more points than that man in Rome. But we all know how things can change on foreign soil. Here it comes. The United States of America has English. Perfect for America. Slightly longer than Europe. Maybe a better angle for Europe, but they’re in the rough. Back to one. Second ahead of Morawa. We just saw Fitzpatrick hit a beautiful witch shot. Boy, he just clipped the grass there. Looking for the one, two, and spin. Where is it? There it is. Boy, just tugged it ever so slightly, but distance was was dead on. Jamie Spence watching Tommy Fleetwood with the second shot here. Yeah, morning everybody. And what a morning it is. They asked for a drop here, but it’s not plugged. But it’s sitting right in here for Tommy. He’s got a great angle, but Oh, he’s he’s very good at this type of shot, flu, but he needs to be cuz this ball is sitting right in the roots. This is tough to get to and stop. See, he had to dig it out of there. Looks good. Looks very good. Great shot from Fleetwood. back for the birdie part of Harris. English expected it to go kind of right. Um maybe the French kind of kept it out there left. Now it’s great opportunity for Rory the European side to go one up after one. Always tough part the French one. It’s a little damp. Doesn’t really run through it. And no problems here for Mroy. It’s all in front of him. Looks dead straight. That’s to win the hole. No practice stroke, but straight in with a perfect one. never in question. Maroy and Fleetwood go one up through one up to two and Rory ball above his feet here. safely aboard. Yeah. And Harris English now from the right hand side of the fairway. 104. He’s got to chop it to this right hand pin. He’s got to hold it off and challenge the right side. And he did. Eixie pixie there. Yeah, even bidding. Quite a big swing here for Morawa off the right. I saw them rolling the greens as I was driving out here this morning. So they’ve just speeded him up this morning for the players, which is great. Colin with a 20 ft uphill. Greens are just perfect up to the right. Oh. Oh. Oh. To win the hole, Tommy Fleetwood. European putts being conceded. That’s for the tie. No problem. So, Maroy and Fleetwood stay one up. All right. Worry the sixiron trying to be the first player to hit it right of the flag today. has not succeeded. But does he have enough? Nope. Just short. It’s good club selection. Just the wrong line there. But uh actually not a bad opportunity for Fleetwood to chip that in. And English. There we go. High draw coming in this right at the flag. Beautiful shot. Well, USA in close here. This is usually magnificent from this distance. Just pulled it. It’s running past Morawa for Birdie here after Harris’s great iron just hung out to the right. I think he loved the line. It just didn’t go left for him. Maroy for the half to stay one up. Over the last year or so, he’s become a much better putter. No practice stroke. He just goes straight in. Bit like the puck. Well done. Great half from Maroy. And they stay one up after three. A good escape from the Europeans as they head towards the par five. Harris English second from just the right semi. Three iron par five. That’s a good leave. Plenty of green to work with there. Nothing in front of him. Chance for Europe. Especially when it’s Rory hitting second. Yeah, it looks like he’s aiming right. He’s got it right to the fly. He’s going to hit a high sweeping kind of draw in there. Looks like he’s pulled it off perfectly. Just short though. Wow. Boy, he was flag hunting there. Looks like just short plugged in the bunker. Oricawa. Third shot the par five. Oh, he’s played. Oh, it checked. I thought that was going to release up. It’s okay. But remember the Europeans are plugged in the left bunker. Speaking of, here’s Tommy Fleetwood trying to extricate them here. He’s done really well there. Not e from that stance, the ball’s up above you. That was a very difficult shot. Okay, back to English at par five. Both of these birdie parts to come and the first misses. An opportunity awaits Europe. Maroy to win the fourth to go two up in the third match. USA up in two, but one up and Europe two up and two five off it goes for Morawa. Get up there. The two down is a horrible scenario for for either team because you just can’t go three down. They’ve got to really fight. Good live for Tommy. Not a great angle. All slightly above his feet. Slight grimace bit left. Oh, not much. Oh, big advantage for Europe there. They’re already two up. Maroy and Fleetwood. Well, Maroy for birdie and the win to go to three up. Macroyy’s hold two nice putts already. Make it three. Had to delay the call as it dropped in the back edge. Quickly to Maroy. Just a short iron. This should be good. It certainly is another magnificent shot from Mroy. He has come to play this week. What a special human being. Grand slam winner. A more cow up. This is for a birdie putt to tie the hole. Already three down. He misses this. I I think you can Yeah, I I really do think that match is over to be honest with you. The strength of the team of Maroy and Fleetwood. No way you come from four down. Not going to happen. to seven. Morawa Fairbywood into seven. Good swing. It’s okay. It’s a long way from the flag. Fleetwood out of the rough. a good angle to that left hole location. You can see he can set up well left like he’s going to try and chop it out with a cut shot. Yeah, once again wasn’t a great lie, but a good result from a poor lie. That’s why he was set up left coming down more abruptly into the ball. Over 50 ft back here at seven. Well, two equidistant parts really there to call the referee. And this is uh just off the left at the end there for English. Oh, that’s run by a considerable distance. That will not be given. Not even close to circle of friendship. Now Rory, this is to win the hole. Two parts may win it as well. They’re already four up. That’s great speed. It’s exactly what he had to do. A great lag put. Yeah, with the USA still with work left to do out there for Morawa and English. Morawa this for the half. Four down. Excellent. Excellent. That’s just kind of dragging out the misery here. That that game is over. So we go back to the par three with Tommy Fleetwood. Plays nine yards shorter than his distance. Massively downhill. Great line. Another fabulous shot. Moricawa to follow. Looks a good line. That’s a good shot. Good chance for them there for Birdie. Birdie putt for Maroy. He walks it in. Everything is just going Europe’s way. I mean, it is just an amazing effort from team Europe on this first morning. It’s not quite shades of Rome where they went 4 and0 in that opening Forsome’s session, but it’s not far off it at the moment. up in uh three of the matches and Shalay and Kent Lake doing their best to hang on out in match number four at Beth Paige Black 154 for the American team here. But the tree he would probably at 9 if that tree wasn’t here, but I don’t not sure he’s going to get a nine over that. So, it’s going to be a wedge and he’s got to pummel it to this right hand pin. All the trouble short with a bunker. Yeah, he is. Yeah, Jamie. He’s a predominantly left to right player. This is a very uncomfortable shot. Oh, it’s a fantastic shot there. Are you kidding me? That’s unbelievable. You were saying Jay? Yeah, that’s a tough shot for him. Now Tommy Fleetwood 149 for Tommy. Same prospect really. Ball slightly above his feet. He’s chipping an iron here. Yeah, it’s brilliant. Brilliant again from Europe. Just keeping the foot down. Fantastic. Made a lot of birdies today. Same as the US team actually. So now this to win the hole for Harris English to eat into that five down deficit. It’s amazing match play. You would have you would have bet on the European team there where where the positions were on the on on the fairway. But you just cannot let up at all. You’ve just always got to think the worst. Back to match three which is down the 10th for we here for Harris English here. Oh, an aggressive start line playing a big draw in there to a right pin. That’s a great shot from there, Jay. I think he read the lie there perfectly. I think the ball was above his feet and he thought I’ll just go straight at it. Here’s Rory. Rory for at 212 yds. Better angle than Harris. Might be able to just drift it in left to right. Might be a slightly better player as well. Oh, no way. Come on. Oh, come on. I mean, he in my mind, he’s the best ball striker in the world by a good bit. The best I’ve ever played with. Not that shot, though. But, um, he is the best. When he’s firing, he’s just so fun to watch. Here’s Tommy Fleetwood. Long putt up the hill here. Just be trying to knock it up close like that. Exactly like that. Wonderful putt. Great distance control. Doing exactly what he needed to do. Morava to win the hole. I think this needs to go in. Oh, you can’t leave it short when you’re four down. That’s a school boy error there. No, that is unforgivable given the situation and the sea of blue on the leaderboard at the moment. Morawa his second here from the left rough. Good live but a poor angle into that back left hole location. He’s been quite good from poor angles today. Colin Morakawa little miffed by the spin perhaps. You could see with the way he hit it, he was trying to hit it so high he ended up on his sort of on his tiptoes just to try and flight it. I think he forced that one up there. Great angle here for Fleetwood after that perfect T-shot from Mroy right into the teeth of the wind. Spin control so important into that wind. That wasn’t a good strike. He’s trying to just drive it in quite low. One bounce. Stop it dead. Rory for the birdie up the hill after Tommy’s not so great wedge shot. Let’s see if he can get the pace right. Look at Tommy getting in there quickly to get a read if he needed it. And he will need it, but you don’t get a read when a putt is left short. He’s frustrated with himself with that one. Keegan Bradley, what is going through his mind? His team is just getting pounded right now. I mean, the the bottom game one up Sha Canley just barely hanging on. One up. You maybe be thinking about the afternoon just now. How can he English are birdian and they need it, don’t they? Team USA just drifts to the right of the hole this one just a little bit. They’re not turning much these greens this morning. Now, wrong line, wrong pace, and we need all the help we can get. I’m not giving up yet. Here’s a par for Morawa on this troublesome green, 11th green. It’s caused everyone trouble. Well done. To tie the hole they do at 11. Tommy Fleetwood, the FedEx Cup champ. And Maroy still four up. Four iron here on the whole 12. Oh, I think he’s overdrawn that. Oh, that’s a bad shot again. Shortsided. I mean, he just can’t do that. And that might have gone down into the bunker as well. That’ll be an awkward bunker shot. So, here’s Rory surely just going to hit it right at the pin. Put more pressure on America. Eight iron here. And such a difference between a four iron and eight iron and Rory Moy the ability to hit it up in the air and land it softly and and just a commercial shot. He doesn’t need to take the pin on. You know he’s four up and your opponent’s in trouble. Just put it anywhere on the green. Let’s go back to the 12th down with Colin Marukawa trying to launch it up there with Maroy a little over maybe about 40 ft or so and that one’s trickling further away. Just shows you Alli there when you short side yourself you bring all sorts of problems into play. That’s why Rory just middle of the green trying to hit it middle of the green and just keep the pressure on America. Tommy up the hill to win the hole. Maybe two putts might even do it. But it’s a super lag put. Super lag. Just leave Roia a three-footer all to all over to America now to to save going even more down. Back to 12 with English for the par. Much needed. This has to go. You got to fancy Rory now. Five up. So this the parart back at 12 to win the hole. All that’s required ahead of Ry Mroy here to go five up, which they do. There’s no looking back for he and Tommy Fleetwood now. Just Rory there just doing the just doing the easy thing. Just green just keep hitting greens. Autopilot, aren’t they? They’re making it look so easy. They’re so comfortable with each other and how they’re playing. It’s they’re so tough. Harris English now. He’s got his third shot in the rough and run it all up the green. Lots of green to work with. Little bit back in the stance. Get it running. Oh, it came out soft. Not great contact there. Just popped on him. Just grass in between club face. Well, it could be over here on P maybe. Fleetwood is down the green. It’s a lovely B to have sort of down the valley a bit. Turn right and left early, then straighten for Fleetwood for the birdie. How did that miss? He was just about to celebrate. You could almost see that he was he was nearly in his squat position. Morava at 13 to win the hole. Two putts there hitting the hole. Great try. 13 tied by Maroy there. Their five up margin remains headed to 14. 14th T. Tommy Dormy 149 front pin. Little punchy nine iron. I bet you that looked so good for Tommy when he was when that was in flight. It’s just went half a club long. Back to 14. Morawa. Oh, after watching Tommy shot go so long, I’m sure they kind of down clubbed a little bit in its own pitch my perfect distance and it just buried itself into the green there. So, as predicted, it’ll be on Justin Thomas now. Maroy to win his match back at 14. Oh, wow. Good putt. Gosh, that was a great part. Yeah. Now back to 14 to win the hole for Harris English. Another must make. Yep, that’s not looking good. Okay, Morawa for par and it goes. They’re going to see the next from Tommy Fleetwood, aren’t they? If they want to see the next hole, their hopes right on this for the US side because it has been a clinical performance so far from Tommy Fleetwood and Rory Maroy. Relentless from the offset. It is another massive margin for Europe and they’re 3-0 together. Fleetwood Mack go five and four. To watch another RDER Cup video, click here and subscribe here.
