PGA Tour star Will Xatorries is set to make his long- aaited return to professional golf this December after spending seven months sidelined with a serious back injury. The 29-year-old American has officially committed to the DP World Tours Ned Bank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa, marking his first competitive start since undergoing back surgery in May. Dozalator’s comeback follows another frustrating setback in what should be the prime of his career. Earlier this year, he struggled through missed cuts at both the Masters and the PGA Championship before withdrawing from the Charles Schwab challenge. Shortly afterward, he took to Instagram to share this sobering news. “Hey everyone,” sharing a health update, he wrote, “This spring, I started feeling some discomfort and instability in my back that progressively got worse. Following the PGA Championship, an MRI showed that I had reharnniated two discs. After consulting with my medical team, I underwent surgery with Dr. Michael Duffy at the Texas Back Institute. I’m happy to say I woke up feeling good and excited about my long-term back health. Time to focus on recovery and get back after it. Thank you to my team, friends, and family for being there for me throughout this journey. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall. This wasn’t the first time back. Issues derailed his progress. Salatorries was forced out of the 2022 BMW championship while leading the FedEx Cup standings and ranked inside the world’s top 10. A devastating blow for one of golf’s brightest young talents. Determined to prevent another recurrence, Salatator spent the off season putting on nearly 20 lbs of muscle to strengthen his core and spine. I really wanted to make sure that I’m setting myself up for the next seven eight years because right now at 28 years old, this is go time. He explained earlier this year, the Nedbang Golf Challenge will be a familiar stage for Zalator. He made his debut at the South African event last season, finishing T18 at one overpar, just one shot behind fellow PGA Tour winner Max. His return to Sun City before Christmas promises to be one of the most anticipated comeback stories of the season and a key moment in the 2025 campaign as Zalator looks to reclaim his place among golf’s elite.
