STEPHENVILLE, Texas — For the second time in two weeks, Tarleton State Women’s Golf will head to the state of Kansas. The Texans will compete in their penultimate invitational of their fall slate at the Powercat Invitational hosted by Kansas State at the Colbert Hills Golf course on Monday and Tuesday.

The Texans will compete in the 16-team field with 88 total players in their first appearance in program history at the Powercat Invitational. Tarleton State is the only WAC program to compete in the invitational and one of three squads selected for 2025 NCAA Regional Tournament last spring. The Texans join the Horizon League’s automatic qualifier, Oakland and at-large selection Kansas State. Incarnate Word is the only other Texas school to compete, with 12 total states represented in the invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole event will tee off on Monday with a pair of rounds with a shotgun start. Tuesday will have the third and final round. All rounds will be a par 72, with the first two rounds having a 6,446 yardage and a 6,342 yardage on the final round. Results will be provided by Clippd.com. The Texans will be competing with the same five they sent they have sent to their last two events. The Texans will once again be without the 2025 WAC Tournament Champion and Co-Player of the Year, Louise Depadt. Depadt underwent successful surgery earlier this month and is expected to make a speedy recovery. She is very excited to get back out on the course and join her teammates in their quest later this season.

Last time out, the Texans placed 11th as a team at the Marilynn Smith Invitational hosted by Kansas. Lou Deltombe became the third different golfer to lead the Texans in their third event of the season. Deltombe recorded the second most pars in the field (39) while shooting 14-over-par to finish in 29th place. Gina Chen posted the best round by the Texans opening with a one-under-par, 70. She finished 21-over par and tied for 55th with teammate Darianys Guzman. Natalia Fiel Ros opened with a five-over-par, 76 and finished tied for 59th overall. Rebeca Fernandez carded a 253 to place 76th. The Texans will be competing in the same order as their finish last time out with Guzman in the second slot and Chen in the third spot after the two finished in a tie.

Last year, Kansas State took home the team title in the first Powercat Invitational. Kansas State’s Carla Bernat won the individual crown shooting an eight-under-par, 208 with a low round of 67.

Tarleton State will close out their fall campaign at The Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by Northern Arizona next week. The Texans will play at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ridge to close out the month of October opening on Oct. 27 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
