An early let off for Team Europe.
Rory McIlroy misses with his birdie putt, trickling it a fraction right of the hole. That gives Cam Young, the local favorite, a fine opportunity to win the hole with his 7-foot attempt. But he misreads it slightly, the ball swinging wide of the hole.
Team USA needed that to go in. If they’re to stand any chance of turning things around this afternoon they need to seize the momentum and they need to seize it early.
