Yeah, you know, taking a driver here 285 off the tea. Got it just short of pin high. He chipped it exceptionally well coming down the stretch yesterday and this the same and the crowds got out with him early. Yeah, they tucked this pin way on the right hand side and Matias Sanchez found the front bunker with his T-shot. Look at that touch. That’s what growing up on the sandbell gets you. Mark Leman after a par on the second, the hardest hole on the golf course. This for birdie on the fourth. He wanted to make an early move as well. Plenty of length in his game to be able to reach this opening hole. Not only does he have length, he has beautiful touch. Go to the New South Walesman Josh Armstrong. He is a prodigious hitter of the golf ball. What a putt there on the toughest hole on the golf course. They really tucked that pin on the left hand side as well. added element of a bit of a different challenge to yesterday. And what he doesn’t want to do here, Jimmy, is leave it in the bunker and get too cute. This has got to get 10 feet past it. Oh goodness. Oh my goodness. He played golf. It’s a a tougher gig to get entrance into that. Yeah, it certainly is. Obviously, no world ranking points. Top 50 in the world typically get you in the Masters. He would love to get back there cuz you remember that iconic photo when Adam Scott won the Masters in 2013, Mark Leeman was playing with him on the 18th and when Scotty hold the putt, you can see Leash in the background with the fist pump going, “Yes, you beauty.” Three top 10 finishes at the Masters. Short of this green, I’ll have to work some magic to get this close. Beautifully [Applause] judged for distance, but you can just see that kicking off the shoulder of the front bunker sort of lost the greens have lost a lot of their shape over the years. So they became more oval and um you know not not these little fingers and things like that pointing out and the next hole for example, the fourth has been restored to the famous map. Just be careful here. If this comes out a little hot, it could run all the way down to the front of the green. and he’d protected against it. And you can see the ridge just back in my junior days, that’s exactly what it looked like. But over the years, it just lost its shape. And OCM have restored it to its glory and only 120 m long. Look at it’s bearing its teeth. And really be a craftsman around here. And no surprises. They’re almost at the top of the leaderboard. Yeah. Yeah. There’s one player there, another Western Australian, Brady Watt, three through nine holes today. Nicely done there by Jared Edwards. Gets him back to level path of the day where he started at five under. As I said before the break, we’re seeing quite a few birdies and not many bogeies so far today. I think the wind’s just coming out of a slightly different direction. Uh out of the north to begin and then switching to the west, whereas yesterday was out the southwest. And that is the tough wind around here. Watch Mark just Is that the doctor? I don’t really like the doctor. [Music] It will be the doctor very soon. It’s still out the west. The doctor’s the southwest is southwesterly, isn’t it? Yeah. Hats off to my big brother Troy. He’s um he’s amazing. And and he’s his wife’s out there working as well. So’s so is his son and daughter. And it’s just it’s just amazing. as we see Cameron John there not quite getting that out the way he wanted and Edwards is heating that putter up beautifully that’s backto back birdies now after an early bogey you know I I think one of the best stories in Australian golf last year Elvis Smiley coming along there’s a there’s a lot of story lines that we do get every year but Ryan Peak through adversity turned himself around and Cameron John turning around. Got it on the fairway. Nine on six from the right with his wedge game. He’s just going to take it straight at it. So, we need to keep in mind he’s been the last six weeks working on his game. He he hates that right shot. You know, the closest one to the shore or not the furthest one out, that’s for sure. Beautiful conditions out west. Oh, Cotislike could be one of the prettiest beaches in the country. I think city beach for me. Definitely not. Good to see another fellow lefty playing. Well, there’s a million of them in the field, Nick. It’s like you guys have started something. I think it was Bob Charles that started. True. Yeah. He was the first pioneer of many. My mom’s a left-hander. Yeah. unleashment from over the back. This is just horrible. Trying to get this close and looks as though he’s going to have about 15 ft or so left for bogey. Yeah, maybe a little closer. 12 ft. Cameron John in action here on the eighth hole. Yeah. In in for two into this bunker. Third shot. Depending on the lie here. Needs to spin. Oh, he’s done a fabulous job there. What flavor cake are we talking here? give us details. Uh it was some sort of muffin. It was quite sweet, but it was uh delicious. I can tell you I had a long night last night. I hosted a function, so I was a bit tired. I didn’t get much breakfast, so she made sure to look after me. Good cook, your mom. Oh, very good. Makes incredible Anzac biscuits, by the way. There you go. Put that on, Jimmy. You alluded to it there, but you’re needing to go from hole to hole, not knowing where to go because it is such a tight contest at the moment. Add another one to the collection of miss greens here. That’s nicely done from John. He’s just managing his game really well. The two young guys missed it short left of this green. He’s just put a pin high right. He’s got a little slider from his left here. What a putt from the South African. That is just clinical. Yeah. Scorec card will show. Well, that’s three pars in a row as we go up to 18. Can Mark Leeman make it a grand stand finish? Oh, yes, he can. That’s why he’s all class. And don’t count that man out. He joins the clubhouse lead with Locky Barker. Will five under be enough? Probably the most important T-shot of the day. He’s leaning a little left. Oh. Oh my goodness. Don’t tell me. Don’t tell me. Come on. Oh, can you believe that shot? Hayden Baron here for his birdie. Well, this has to go in about time. [Music] He knows it, doesn’t he? He knows he’s had those little moments where it’s on 16. This is a must. Bit tentative. Come on. Yes sir. It’s all it takes is one good swing off there with the driver. Was that far enough up, Nick? All right, we need a big slinging hook. Oh, that’s nicely done. He’s avoided that. You can take all that fairway out of play with a sand on right here, but he obviously knows different. Could easily put this in the bunker as well. Oh, no way, Nick. I tell you, no way. Well, we’re hitting it right in the belly of the ball and needs to slow down. Well, we got the read right, but the pace was [Applause] Oh my goodness. Down the stretch two or three times, Nick. From that distance, Becca held them. He stood under the pressure. Well, that was the most bizarre two minutes of golf I think I’ve ever seen. If Ollie Becka does come through and win this, I cannot wait for the interview with Jimmy Emanuel to find out what he was thinking in those moments. Yeah, as we watch Cameron and John here left off the tea just trying to get this back into play. Go in a couple of putts like that down the stretch that just didn’t reach out. Look at outright second by himself. And with that Cameron John’s miss. We have a South African again as the WA Open champion Oliver Becka. Hats off to you. An amazing finish and a very very worthy champion.
