On Saturday (Oct. 18), the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s golf team completed the opening round of the 2025 OUA Golf Championships, hosted by Ontario Tech at the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club.

In the two-day tournament, Toronto posted a Day 1 team score of 315 placing them in 11th after the first round of competition.  

Delivering the top individual result for the Blues on Saturday was Bryan Luo who notched a 75 to finish at plus-3 through the first round of 18. With four birdies, Luo sits just six strokes back of the podium positions, while tied in a seven-person log-jam for 18th. Scoring a 77, Sai Kaja ranks as the second Varsity Blue on the leaderboard. The U of T team was rounded out by Desmond White (81), Jordan Hutchings (82) and Shao Liu (84).

Zachary Burt of Waterloo and Vincent Laplante of Ottawa currently lead the individual standings with scores of 68, while Laurier’s 290 team score marks a four-stroke lead over their closest competitors in the team rankings.
