You know, I really feel every week I say the exact same thing. It’s the same Jets every week, but I got to give them credit. They gave us a battle. They battled the team that was better. And it’s somehow is more infuriating than if they had gotten blown out to begin with. So, on the show, we’re going to talk a little bit. We’re going to wrap up the Denver game. We’re going to look ahead to the Carolina game. Talk about some of the news that’s going on with the New York Jets because there is quite a bit of news. You know, we’re checking on the Tankathon standings because why wouldn’t we? And a whole lot of other stuff to get into as well. But guys, you know what’s up. It’s Wednesday night. It’s 6 pm and we are live. [Music] [Music] And well, well well well welcome everybody back to New York Sports Wicker Media. I am your party host UK99 here for our weekly Wednesday night extravaganza. I’m glad that you are here with me right now. I see the chat is starting to uh grow a little bit right here. So fantastic. We get the early bird gets the worm, whatever that means. I guess that means they eat early and aren’t starving later. So you get your full meal. You get breakfast, lunch, dinner, the whole nine yards. And you ain’t going to be needing to go back for seconds because we’re going to fill you up right now. That is about the weirdest marketing line I think I’ve ever used, but we’ll just go with it. All right. So I see we got a few folks in the chat already. We’ve got Tony Alexio. Oh man, he came in and he came in quickly and he came in ready to talk. Tannon bomb screws with Woody with Glenn and no wins in sight. Tony apparently has it out. Boy, I thought he Yeah. Well, some people have it out for Rick Spielman, but Tony uh mentioning Mike Tannibal with the uh with the process and uh Tony, I’m not acknowledging the second comment. I am not going to go there, you know. I’m not not after no full year. Full year, Tony. I’m not firing anybody one year in. It will never ever work if they fire anybody within one year. Harlon Abraham taking the more positive side of it. The Jets will get better as they get more players. Aaron Glenn likes they will do better. I think that is absolutely true. I think the coaching staff is working with what they have and even though there is definitely some star talent on this Jets roster, there clearly is not the depth that they are looking for. They need winners. They need their guys. That is what they are needing. And you can’t just bring that in in one year. Joe Douglas got this team a lot of talent. But this this regime is looking for their own guys. And we saw that this week with some of the moves that were made. The thing is, I really don’t freaking know what a Daramuji and Aaron Glenn guy is right now. I don’t think any of us really know. Well, we’re going to get into all of that in just a few minutes. By the way, hit that thumbs up. uh helps promote the show and you know the deal. We get 15 likes like we did last week, we will spin the wheel. All right, let’s let’s talk about what’s on my mind and a little bit of what we like to call three and out. First of all, in the NHL, the New York Rangers, my god, three straight shutouts at home to start the season. I don’t I know they’re playing better. They’re playing hard. It seems to be working well with Mike Sullivan. Bottom line is they haven’t scored a goal at home. They’re two and three. it. I’m almost relieved that they’re going over to Toronto. Almost. Almost. Oh my gosh. Apparently, they can score when they’re away from the Garden, but they it’s just the worst freaking luck. And not having Vincent Troche at center really hurts. He’s on IR long-term injury reserve. He’s out for at least 10 games. But now that he So, now that he’s injured and another defenseman is dayto-day, Will Morgan, they called up Scott Morrow from Hartford, which I’m very happy about. He will add an infusion of offensive ability into a defense that does not have a lot of it outside of Adam Fox. And if you’re a Devils fan, well, you can’t be much happier. You just lost your goalie. Jacob Marstrom is hurt. He’s out for weeks now with a lower body injury because god forbid in hockey, you know, they talk about how how tough hockey players and they are. But why can’t we talk about what body parts injured? Come on. God forbid we ever see what the injury is. This isn’t the playoffs. It’s the middle of October. Baseball Tigers Mariners game five. Amazing. One of the best baseball games I have watched in years. Since then, it has been a snoozefest. The ALCS has been as exciting as preseason football. Four road wins, Mariners and Dodgers lead their series two nothing, respectively. The ALCS resumes tonight if you’re interested. And as far as the Giants go, man, all of a sudden it’s just so exciting to root for Big Blue and Big Blue and Big Blue. Blow your horn. How cute. You just watch. Everyone’s like creaming themselves over Jackson Darden and Cam Scataboo. Watch the way that these two play. They will be injured. Scataboo will be off this team in four years. The way he plays, he’s reckless. He is going to get hurt. And Dart’s going to get hurt, too, because he’s reckless. He loves to run. Doesn’t know how to dive. Now, do we forget they turned the ball over five times two games ago against New Orleans? Do we all forget that? you know, good win against a reeling Philadelphia team. I know the Super Bowl champions, but a reeling Philadelphia team is what they are. Now, let’s see them survive Denver this week and that pass rush. Let’s see that offensive line block Cooper, Bonito, JFM, and everybody else. Let’s see that happen. Beat Denver, then you’ll have something to be to impress us with. And I didn’t want to spend a whole heck of a lot of time here because you know what? The chat’s in. Let’s get right to it. So, let’s talk some New York Jets football. This is This is the New York Jets, where careers come to die and the worst memories of your life are born. What else can we say? What else can we say? Yeah, you know, let’s let’s talk a little bit about this game. Let let’s just recap a little bit because you guys know I it just it tears me up too much to even you know come on right after the show and I’m just going to make that a little we don’t need to see we don’t I don’t want Justin Fields to be too big on here. He doesn’t deserve it. So I had to pick my mom up from the airport. U did some grocery shopping took her home. She’d been on the road for about a month uh leading tours in the just wonderful New England region that we have here in this country. And so I didn’t get really I didn’t really get a chance to start the Jet game until about the game was halfway over anyway, which actually worked out well because you get to skip commercials and go through all the just all the BS. The only thing I knew, we were in Trader Joe’s and I saw the Jets got a turnover and I’m all but doing a dance right there in the produce aisle. You know what I’m talking about? If you weren’t doing a dance at that moment, I mean, come on now. We didn’t know we’d ever see that. But let’s just think about this. And I I’ve seen one or two people share this before Sunday. NFL teams in the Super Bowl era. That goes back to 1966, had a record of 62 and 0 when they didn’t turn the ball over, took the ball away at least once, committed two penalties or fewer, and held the opponent to under 250 yards of offense, make it 62-1. And only the Jets could do it. Only the Jets could do it. Early on, it looked pretty exciting. JJ, so good to have Germaine Johnson back with the with a pass rush to force the pass loose uh to force it uh quickly. Jarvis Brownley looks like a pretty good pickup early on. Knocks it loose. Andre Cisco recovers. They get held to a field goal and Kenna Nongu, welcome back. 72 yard return at one point. How many times do I need to tell everybody how good this kid is? And what and the thing the Broncos did so much to keep the Jets in this game and that’s just in the first half dropping a third down screen that would have gained an easy first down. The drive late in the second they took a false start and a holding Matt Pier the ex-giant the X- Giant three penalties in the first half alone. And we need to talk about this first half. What are the Jets doing with that drive at the end of the first half? Run, run, run. Where’s the urgency? I don’t care if you have the ball to start the second half. When you have an opportunity to score, why don’t you take it? I know the Broncos pass rush was overwhelming for and there’s a number of reasons why. We’ll get into all of them in a few minutes, but don’t you have to take a few chances and I I don’t really want to kill Tener Instrand for this. I really, really don’t. I think he’s doing what he thinks is best with the lackluster personnel he has to work with. But the people who want these coaches out, Tony in particular, how do you fix this right now? Who are you bringing in to fix it? Are you exuming Vince Lombardi and resurrecting him from the dead after 53 years, 55 years, whatever it is? People are just so quick to fire people. And it bothers me. It really does. It’s amazing how Todd Bulls was a shitty coach. All of a sudden, boom, he’s got Baker Mayfield. All of a sudden, people think he’s actually good. Really? He’s got a general manager who’s great at bringing in talent. They keep hiring coaches who get hired for head coaching jobs every year. Canales Cohen, the current one, Gizzard, you watch. He’ll get a head coaching job next year. You watch all of a sudden top to people think Tom BS is smart. Todd BS is smart because he has smart people around him and talented players in the locker room. You think if Tom BS was the head coach right now, this team would be in playoff contention. Stop. Stop. But I will criticize Aaron Glance. So Tony, yeah, you could be happy now. Okay. I will criticize him because he deserves it. the fake punt on fourth and one which barely worked only to see them run the clock and take a knee. Who has ever won in this league by coaching scared? Who when are you at your best when you’re afraid? And that’s how that came across was being afraid to give the ball back to Denver who hadn’t done much on offense to begin with. And we get 32 yards on offense total. One first down on offense in that first half. Justin Fields needed to be yanked at halftime. He needed to be yanked at halftime. Tony, I’m going to say it again. Jimmy Johnson 1 and 15 his first year. Would you have fired him halfway through knowing what we know now? It There’s a lot of things that don’t make sense. Like why Jacksonville with Liam Cohen is doing as well as they are. How some of these coaches are are actually doing as well as they are, but it can’t be about talent. I I it just doesn’t make sense. We know the Jets have some talent. Why it’s not coming together. I think Glenn inherited a losing culture from the previous regimes. That’s what I think. And stop with the tank pull, dude. Stop with the tank. I don’t want to hear about a tank anymore. I don’t. Stop with the tank. Tell them the tank. Yeah. Go out there. Yeah. Okay. All right, guys. Here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to go out. We’re not even going to try. We’re going to do everything we can to lose. So, you run into the line. You purposely blow your block. You purposely blow your cover. Stop talking about a tank. It’s not real. Tanking is a myth. Only fans talk about tanking. That’s it. That’s it. And it gets to the point when the Jets do win a game, it’ll be like, “Oh, Aaron Glenn up the tanks. Just knock it off. Knock it off.” Second half, they’re down 130. So, let’s go to to the end of the game. They’re down 13-11. What do they do? Bree run nothing. fields the offtarget pass to Garrett Wilson which hurts him. Hyperextends his knee and now he’s out for a few weeks. Third down sack. Olaf Fanu completely blows the block and Jonathan Cooper drills Fields three and out. But the Jets defense comes right back. I give them credit. Give the defense credit. By the way, is anybody at one Jets drive this week happier than Steve Wilks? Anybody? They’re like, “Well, they ain’t talking about me right now. I’m running off. I’m running off. I’m off the hot seat for a week. No one’s talking about Steve Wilks now. Not at least not until next Sunday. But the Jets forced the three and out capped off by a Germaine Johnson sack. How good is he? How much is he miss when he’s not around? For the people who keep killing Joe Douglas for breaking up the Dline, do they forget that Germaine Johnson missed 16 games last year? Jets start what would be the final drive of the game on their own 44. First play, Fields drops the snaps. Bree Hall picks it up and gets seven yards up the middle. A complete miracle as he forces two missed tackles on the way. Then they let it run to the two-minute warning. Bree runs for the first down. Next play on a blitz. We know this offensive line can’t pick up a blitz. Sack again. Then a pass to Garrett. He gets seven yards. It sets up third and eight. Wilson can’t make the catch as Fields is late getting the ball out as Hofonga comes in and just digs at it till the ball comes loose and that creates the decision. Do you try the 62 Aaron? 62 6 What? 62 two I think you know the number two. It was on your jersey when you played your whole career in the NFL. 62 or go to the fourth and eight. And in that moment, it’s like, you know what, you I’m not confident he could kick it, but fourth and eight with this offense, the way they’ve been playing, how am I how could I be confident they would gain eight yards? He opts to go for it. Should we really have been surprised? Sack again, number nine for the game. And for Aaron Glenn to say that it would have been a 68 or 65 yard field goal attempt. He said they had the target at the 35 yard line which would have been a 52. He’d made a 58 yard field goal this year already. And there were no adverse conditions in London for a change. 60° sun was shining. No wind. What was the sun deflecting off the goalpost and that would have blinded Folk? What are we talking about? And with the new K balls where you or I can kick the ball 50 yards at this point, maybe folk makes it trying to convert a fourth and eight made no sense. No sense at all. None, man. Mendoza 2026. Russy’s all over him like he was all over. Who are some of the guys? K Kyle Phillips, uh, Sebastian Castro, all those type guys. The guy the French guy got the guy with the French name. The guy with the French name, whatever his name was. Anyway, the offensive lineman. Yeah. Yeah. Russy’s got his diamonds, but this uh this is the diamond you won’t have to uh dig very far. No, Tony, I am not advocating firing people over one freaking mistake. No. CJ Strad, you want Well, sure. A lot of, you know, hey, maybe the Jets can get CJ Strad if Houston keeps up the way they are. He might want out of Houston if they can’t protect him. Harland not a fan of Mendoza. One-year wonder similar to Zack, man. Haron coming in heavy on that one. See, I can criticize without calling for a firing. There’s a difference. That’s the difference, guys. So, let’s talk about where this team is on offense. We are so freaking easy to defend that I want to vomit. Denver knew what he they had to do. Load the box up against Bree and bracket Garrett Wilson. But I have never I’ve been I’ve been watching this team now for 30 over 35 years. And some of you have been watching longer. All right. I I can’t remember the last time I saw a quarterback literally afraid to throw the freaking football. Open receivers. It’s Zack Wilsonesque. So I ask again, did Joe Douglas really screw up by drafting Zack Wilson? Because who the hell else was there to draft? Should we have drafted Micah Parson second overall? The options were Justin Fields, Zack Wilson, Trey Lance. Come on. It makes me laugh genuinely. It really does. The Jets longest pass completion on the day, 11 yards. 11. The Jets had zero explosive plays. Zero plays of 20 yards or more. That’s the first time an offense has had no explosive plays since week 11 in 2021. You want more? Oh, I got more. Nine sacks, 55 lost yards. Average time on those nine sacks from the snap to contact 5.76 seconds. In the NFL, the league average for a sack from from snap to contact is 4.63. Justin Fields could sit in the back pocket and make a cake before throwing the ball. He had as many sacks as he did completed passes. Nine of each. Nine sacks on 29 dropbacks. the highest sack percentage in any NFL game since 2018. 76 yards of total offense through three quarters. Total yards for the game. Denver 246, Jets 82. Those 82 yards, the third worst in franchise history. And you’ve all heard the biggest number coming out of the game, minus 10 net passing yards. The worst by any team since 1998. The last time the Jets were a real Super Bowl threat, when they were really respected, when they were acknowledged as a threat. Yeah, they got to AC championship games, but nobody was expecting it from them. 98 the Jets were the team that people were projecting to go to the ball. Swiggle water for the working man and woman. No targets to Bruce Hall. One target to Mason Taylor. And here’s where I will blame Tener Angstrand. He Justin Fields all year has had 14 designed run plays. The best thing Justin Fields does is run. That’s it. That is what he does best. I think we could whether you love Fields or hate Fields, we can at least agree what he does best is run. Seven of those 14 runs were the first week against Pittsburgh. By the way, the one week where this offense looked amazing. Most of us figured deep down Justin Fields would not be Sam Darnold, Gino Smith or Baker Mayfield. He would not be a reclamation project that would work out. We figured he was a bridge quarterback for two years. And now we know he is. The thing is he could come back against Carolina and have a great week. At least I would have thought that until Garrett Wilson got hurt. But if you want a bright side, I’ll give you a bright side. At least the Jet Run office knows they can’t even think about an extension. They can’t fool themselves into thinking that this is their quarterback of the future. They know they need to draft a quarterback round one in 2026. They know it. We know it. They know it. Oh, speaking of Mason Taylor, I mentioned him briefly. How is there any situation where he is left blocking Jonathan Cooper one-on-one? We know Mason Taylor is not exactly a polished blocker at this point. Okay. But you got him blocking what? One of the Broncos two best pass rushers one-on-one. I’m sorry. How? Why? Tener strand, Steve Hyde, and Aaron Glenn. You care to explain that one. This offensive line has to be fed up knowing they have to keep holding the block and holding the block and holding the block. It looks Olu and Armanu are regressing by the week. Joe Timman, he’s regressing by the week. He was terrible this week. But how much longer do they have to hold it for Justin Fields? Justin Fields has to move. It is amazing how long he takes to to get rid of the football. It is amazing. But I’ll give you some more numbers because we’re having so much fun with this right now. Third down. The Jets were two for 15 on third down. Two for 15. Two for 15. No first downs at all until the fifth drive. Every time the Jets get a first down, you’re pretty much having a party. Rusty, you know, I do my research, right? I’m getting there. That might be one of the five things you need to know about Carolina. That might be coming up later. Yeah, Rusty, I love you. Rusty’s on page 20. I’m only on page four. And he wants Fields moved to wide receiver. Do we know if he can catch if he’s this afraid to throw piss? How afraid is he to be going to be running out running a pattern? I don’t think that’s going to happen. We got it. We got it. We got it. Yes, it was a terrible decision. We know that Harland, I’ll tell you what. Let’s see if Brady Cook can play. Let’s at least wait till Garrett Wilson comes back because do we want Brady Cook out there throwing the ball to Josh Reynolds, Alen Lazard, and Tyler Johnson as the top three receivers? Not me. Not me. I wait a couple weeks, but if it gets to the point last few weeks of the season, I’m game. I’m game for it. He may be he may be an upgrade over Fields. We don’t know. We don’t know. We don’t see practice. We don’t know. Hey, Billy SBC. How you doing, man? Hope you’re doing well. Justin Fields is a lemon. Not in the positive sense. Worst part is we can’t get our money back under the New York State lemon law. Uh yeah. Yeah. No, no. We got Skinner. We got Pritchette. We got Smith. I’m going to get into the receptions in a few minutes. Well, and not the receptions, the uh transactions. But here’s the thing, didn’t don’t you feel like every time the Jets get a first down, you’re having a party like you want to do the Jets chant? You know, you know, we’re running the less effective ground and pound right now. This is like Woody Hayes at Ohio State back in 1965 with the three yards and a cloud of dust offense. And how much did they need Brillin Allen in this game? As much as they were running the ball, when you need to get the tough yards, you need a Brilan Allen in the lineup. Him being hurt again, malpractice by the coaching staff, putting him in on that kickoff return. God, I hate that Allen’s hurt. I hate it. Hate it. He could That could have really turned this game, especially late. It really could have. I really believe that. But there was good news for the defense. The tackling was much better. JJ made his presence felt. He got to Bo Knicks late in the game. Damen Sherwood I thought played his best game of the season, especially in the second half. Malachi. Yeah, Malachi Moore played instead of Tony Adams. Good decision. Good decision there. Jarvis Brownley brought some energy. Good. Good trade. All right. These are good things. And again, no one’s up Steve Wils ass right now. And I think that’s the way he likes it. Penalties far better. Only two. Special teams look better just because Kenny Nongu was out there. But Austin M. Every time I saw Isaiah Williams returning a cake, I wanted to throw my remote out the door. But FO continues to deliver. McNamera continues to deliver as well. Billy with a plan. Start Tyrod, cut Fields, sign Tan Hill as a backup. All right. Well, we’re gonna Well, we’re gonna we’re gonna talk about what that would look like if they were to cut Justin Fields. We are going to do that. All right. I’m not All right. All right. We know, Tony. We know you don’t like Aaron Glenn. We know. It’s okay. Breathe. We know. We get it. We know. We know. So, the deal with the deal with Field’s contract next year. The deal with Field’s contract next year. Uh, pardon me on that one. Uh, there there we go. So, $20 million is the contract for next year. 10 million of it is guaranteed. If the Jets were to cut him post June 1st of next year, you have to take on a 13 million dead cap hit in 2026. Plus, you have to deal with $3 million cap hits for the next three years after that. So, that’s if you cut him. My argument would be you could start him next year, you draft a quarterback, and then you insert him soon as he’s ready. Allah Jackson Dart. But if you were keeping watch on the college quarterbacks this year, I don’t know how this weekend I don’t know how impressed you’d be. Fernando Mendoza, he was about the best of the of the lot. 20 for 31, 215 yards, one touchdown, one interception. Dante Moore, 21 for 34, 186 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions. Lenor Sers 15 for 27, 124 yards. That’s eight yards per pass. Eight and a half yards per pass, no touchdowns and interception. Garrett Nusmeer, 20 for 33, 254 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions. John Matier, who I even I never even heard of till this week, 20 for 38, 202 yards, no touchdowns, three interceptions. And Drew Aller, get well, 13 for 20, 127 yards, and an interception. About the only one who was who kind of emerged was Ty Simpson from Alabama. 23 for 31, 200 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, converted several big fourth downs as Alabama beat Missouri. As a matter of fact, I was actually out on the golf course with a couple of PGA golfers who were following it because they’re big Alabama fans. Jason Bone and Buu Weekly. Buley actually once won a Riter Cup in the US back in ’08 and Matthew Gogan was playing with them. But Buickley and um Jason Bone, very nice guys. uh Jason Bone whose nickname is Boner uh you know because why wouldn’t it be uh but they kept thought they kept while they’re walking up the uh fairway or whatever for their for their to hit their next shot. They’re talking about we got two timeouts left. I don’t know we’re going run or we’re going Pants or what we’re going to do here. It it was amazing. Even the gallery was watching them laughing because all they’re doing talking about is Alabama football. Alabama football. So hey Ty Ty Simpson there you go. Matira is injured and playing as your Mendoza is him. Lie Simpson sucks. Okay. Oh, Ty Simpson aka Lie Simpson. Okay, got it. All right, Rusty. Rusty, I will never knock you for being opinionated. I will never you if they hung you for be if they hung you for being objective, they’d be hanging an innocent man. Oh, Billy, get the number one pick down. Fill some holes. No, you need the quarterback, man. you you have to get a quarterback. The free agent class is Okay, if we didn’t need a quarterback, I would say yes. But you know what? Trade some assets off. Trade some players off and get some draft picks. That That’s what I would do. I know you’re going to get the better picks if you trade down. But the best player, from what I’m seeing, the consensus best player in this draft class is a safety right now. Dear God. But if you think if you think you can develop a quarterback, if you think there is a good enough quarterback to draft that high, you don’t mess around. You draft him. If you don’t believe that, then open the trade down. So on that note, Milk Piper released his first big board this week, and his number one prospect was Dante Moore. So what he says is Moore is a thirdyear sophomore with some impressive traits. His accuracy has been solid all season and he shows good touch on his deep ball. Moore could throw from different arm angles with precision and deliver strikes while rolling either left or right out of the pocket. He could scramble a bit too. Okay, Billy, how many quarterbacks has this regime screwed up? Zero. Zero. Based off of that, should Kansas City have ever drafted Patrick Mahomes because they struggled at quarterback since Len Dawson? So yeah, I I I can’t I’m not You can’t use that ar how or Billy, how should they get a quarterback? What should they do? Should they try to make a trade for CJ Stroud if he’s even available for Joe Burrow? Who’s the lottery? Please don’t tell me Sanders because I’m not going to. Please, if you tell me Sanders, I’m I’m I’m getting off. Please, Evan Roberts, who I I’m like most of the time. Evan Roberts wants to just trade for Sanders. What the heck has Shad nurse Sanders ever done except be a jackass in the locker room and throw balls during practice sessions? What has he done? So, how are we getting the quarterback? How? How? They didn’t mess up Nameoth. They didn’t mess up Pennington. O’Brien, he was what he was. They I can’t say they missed O’Brien. No, I’m not doing that. If you let your past overwhelm your present, your future is going to be your past. I should put that on a fortune cookie now that I think about it. If you let your past dictate your present, your future is going to be your past. So, let’s not Come on. Let’s not let that dictate what we’re going to do. Things like, well, there’s never been a good quarterback from this school, so you don’t ever want to draft a quarterback from that school. That’s baloney. How who was the greatest quarterback out of Texas Tech before Patrick Mahomes came along? I’ll let you all Wikipedia that one. I gotta find it, Billy. Who is going to develop a quarterback? And again, it should be Angstrand and the quarterback’s coach. If you want to clean out the whole coaching staff, okay. Okay. I didn’t say Glenn was going to develop a quarterback. I’m just saying we can’t say that they’re not capable because previous regimes failed. That’s what I’m saying. Haron, the problem is there’s nobody out there that you want to get. Okay. All right. We’re all a little bit frustrated here. Me included. Uh I’ve got stitches all through my back right now. I had back surgery yesterday, so I do have a little bit of pain in me right now. So, I will point that out. I’m okay. I’m doing, you know, I I was never not going to do the show tonight. Just letting you know, I got a little bit of painkillers and uh and two layers of stitches in me right now from yesterday afternoon, but I’ll be okay. Yeah, I need I think I need something stronger than water on this one. All right, so let let’s just get let’s get right to this. I’m just going to read this off for us. All right, I pull up the class. Yeah, yeah, Daniel Jones is a free agent. You think that Indianapolis is letting him get to free agency? Aaron Rogers. Yeah, let’s bring back Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, let’s bring back Rogers, please. Russell Wilson. Done. Marcus Mariota fine as a backup. Zack Wilson’s a free agent. Tyrod Taylor, Joe Flacco, Kenny Picket, Jimmy Garopppolo, Mitchell Trabiscy, Trey Lance, Case Keenum, Josh Johnson, Carson Wu. I need to keep going on. It it Daniel Jones is going to get a contract, okay, from Indie. Would I bring him here? Yes, I would. I would bring him here. I want I was open to bringing him here after last season, but hey, DLDX. Yeah, let’s see the Jets. I I hear Mark Sanchez is available. They might want to take a stab at that one. Little bit late, but all right. Oh, yeah. I’ll be fine. I just got to have I got to have the stitches in me for two weeks and then uh Yeah. Right now, I’m not supposed to lift anything more than 10 pounds. I Yeah, I’m really restricted on exercise. That’s what’s driving me nuts. I’ll be okay. Yeah. Yep. Had a shot of Jack last night. Uh yeah, one shot of Jack. So, yeah. Beer. Yeah. I need a little bit more than beer to get me through that. But I had some amazing Mexican food. Had a great steak burrito, little mahi mahi wrap, some good guac. So delicious stuff. Had some good Mexican. Went to my favorite Mexican restaurant down here in Raleigh and that definitely helped make me feel better. So, and I might have had a margarita. Not going to lie about that one. So, again, I question who wants this job. If we fire Aaron Glenn, if we fire one of our own, one year or less than one year into it, what coach is going to want this job? They be like, they got rid of one of their own after one year. How soon will they get rid of me? I mean, again, are we going to exume Vince Lombardi? Are we going to exume Bill Walsh? Hey, maybe Bill Bich shake shakes free. Maybe we can bring him in. You’re in Charlotte. Woo. Woo. Yeah, I’m just a ride away on the Amtrak on the Carolinian train, Rusty. Sure am. I love Rex as much as anybody, but I’m I’m almost at the point where you almost need a GM coach where you need one person who is the boss. Maybe it would be Mike McCarthy if he wants to coach. I don’t know. Cliff Kingsbury. I’ve heard that name. [Music] Is he commanding respect right away? And I I I firmly believe the Jets would have hired Mike Vrabel if the Patriots coaching job didn’t shake open. I firmly believe that just went just sad. Just the timing of it was Just was. I don’t know if Groom wants to coach, but you know what? I’m crazy enough to give it a try. I don’t know if he’s going to develop a quarterback, but I don’t know. It’s going to have to take the locker room get it’s it’s going to take more than losses. It’s going to have to take a locker room that gets just completely splintered. But again, my biggest worry is there are too many players here who we’re going to get into snap counts in one moment, guys. There are too many guys here who have a losing mentality. And some of them are very good players, but they are used to losing. So, as soon as something goes wrong, you know what? I’m worried that their mindset goes right with it. They don’t have the resilience and that’s a problem. And I don’t know if a coach can just one coach can fix that. I think you need to change the locker room. You need to change certain players. You need to bring winners in here. You need players who will show you how to win. Like years ago, Leenian Tomlinson did, Bart Scott did, Jason Taylor did, those kinds of guys. Before that, when the Jets won the Super Bowl, Johnny Sample had won NFL titles with Baltimore. He came over to the Jets, gave them some real leadership, stuff like that. The Jets need winners. Maybe they tried to do that with Derek Naughty. That didn’t exactly work out, but that was the idea. And I will I the other thing that frustrates me is that Glenn could not get his guys to come over. Now, many of them did not shake loose in free agency, but I was looking to get some Lions players in here, and all we got was Josh Reynolds. That was the best we could do. I think if he had been able to bring over a few of his better players, like Rex was able to do with Bart Scott and Jim Leonard in particular, that would help establish the I hate to use the word because it’s so overused, but culture. Oh, good. So, we can Rusty McDaniels will have be available for OC and Glenn is friends with him. He’ll want revenge on Miami. Great. We’ll have two coaches wearing Capri pants on the sideline at the same time. Yeah, imagine that. Giveaway giveaway pants. Billy SBC. Oh, oh, oh. We’ll get there. We’ll get there, Billy. I got you, brother. All right, let’s let’s get into the snap counts right now because I think we need to turn the page on this game, but we do need to talk about this for a few minutes. All right, look at the offense. 57 snaps. That was down 25 from the Dallas game. 57 snaps on offense. That was it. Justin Fields tragically played all 57 snaps. Reese Hall 42, Isaiah Davis 15, Andrew Beck played only three. Again, if you want to ground and pound offense, if you want to run the ball, put in a good run blocker. Josh Reynolds 50 snaps. Garrett Wilson 48. Arian Smith 34. Again, how many times did you actually notice him on the field and it’s not all his fault. We’ll get into why. Tyler Johnson 11 snaps up seven from last week. Alan Lazar, an excuse for personal matters, did not play. Down to two tight ends. Jason Taylor playing nearly the whole game, 55 snaps. Jeremy Rucker playing 22. At least Taylor’s getting time on the field. Still needs to learn how to block, but he is a good developing tight end. Then with the offensive line, the five starters played every snap. Max Mitchell played five snaps as well. So there were five plays when they used the six offensive lineman. All right, on to the defense. 60 snaps, the same as last week. JJ played the most of any defensive end with 38. Good to see him back. Michael Clemens 35 of three, getting more snaps than Will McDonald, which I which normally I’d complain about, but Will had to be tested for a concussion. Seems to be okay. Played 34 snaps. Bray McGregor played 18 and Tyler Baron, by the grace of God, was inactive for this game, as he should be. I’m sure he’s a wonderful young man, but you should be inactive, Tyler. Defensive tackle Quinnon Williams played 47, nearly over 75% of the snaps, up 12 from last week. Harrison Phillips played 30. Jawan Briggs played 21. Jay Tefale played 16. That was down nine from last week. Leonard Taylor benched again. More on him in a minute. Linebacker Jamon Sherwood played 60 snaps. Kiko Magoa played 50. I thought he looked better as well. And then you had Michael Walker playing 14. Big deal. Mark Robinson. Cam Jones did nothing. did not play. Quarterback Saw Stevens played 60 snaps each. Jarvis Brownley up 34 snaps from last week. So, a huge jump from seven to 41 and seems to be establishing himself as the new nickel quarterback. Isaiah Oliver played only 15 snaps, down 13 from last week. AZ Thomas again not getting a chance. Michael Carter uh still injured, not playing. It wouldn’t shock me if he’s played his last game as a Jet, but we’ll see. And at safety, just two points, Cisco and more, which in my mind is the way it should be. Tony Adams glued to the bench. So, I do like the Jets seem to be playing their best players a little bit more. So, you know what? I’m looking for a positive anywhere I could get it, and I’m going to take that as a positive right there. Okay, guys. So, let’s get into where we are right now. It is that time once again. Oh my gosh. It’s You know what? You see this graphic and I know you just have one reaction. Yep. Time for Tankathon. Here we go. Let’s get into the standings where things are right now. Now, every week, what what I’m going to be doing is updating according to uh uh football pro index where the team is in terms of their ability to get the number one pick, a top five pick, a top 10 pick, and their average draft position. So, right now the So, on the left side is the current uh standing. To the right of that is where they were last week. So, right now the Jets average draft position is 3.6. Last week it was 4.4, four, which is a nice steady drop towards number one. Chance to earn the number one pick. They are giving the Jets a 29.7% chance to earn the top pick. And it’s mid October and it’s already that high of 6% from last week. Chance to earn a top five pick almost 80%. So four out of five times if you simulated the rest of the schedule, the Jets are in the top five. I think that’s a very safe bet. Chance to earn a top 10 pick actually dropped somehow from 96.4 4 to 93.1. I guess the teams on the periphery of 10 and 11 are uh getting a little bit closer there. So, yes, right now we are the uh we are the number one pick uh as expected. So, looking at the standings right here, I’ll have to blow this up a little bit next week if I can, but we are 0 and6 as you all know. And of course, remember it’s about strength of schedule. So, the the worse your strength of schedule, the higher you are in the tiebreaker. So, keep in mind if the Jets had won one game so far, they would be the number four pick right now behind Cleveland, Baltimore, and Miami. Uh, and you can make an argument that at least one of those teams, if not two, would be looking at drafting a quarterback. So, Cleveland, Baltimore, Miami, New Orleans, and Tennessee all at one and five. And, uh, Miami and Cleveland will be playing each other this week. So, uh, one of those teams will not be one and six. And then spots seven through 10, you have Cincinnati, the Raiders, the Giants, and Arizona. So that’s where that is right now. All right, so let’s get out of Tankathon. Like that. Got to go get that number one pick overall. We’re right on pace for it. We’re right on pace for it. What are you going to do? I would just like to lose with the with the kids. That’s that’s about all all I really want to do. All right, let’s get into some of the news here. Hey, Grand Daiser, how you doing, man? Hope you’re having a great week. I appreciate it. Yeah, we play a lot of those teams soon. Hopefully, we can secure the first overall. Who would have thought before the season, didn’t you all think that Baltimore either Baltimore or Buffalo would be the most unwinable games we would have? Can you can you believe Baltimore has only won one game this year? Unbelievable how they’ve fallen off. Wow. All right. So, the first thing and and let’s get serious for a moment and let’s keep everything in perspective is Nick Mangold uh who announced on Tuesday that he has been dealing with chronic kidney disease for the last 20 years and he is looking for a transplant looking for a new kidney and he’s looking for O blood. Now, I did look this up. Now, I donate plasma. I have AB blood which is ironic considering those are my initials but that’s just the way that it goes. But there’s O positive blood and there’s O negative blood. I don’t know. O Nick only said type O. So when he says type O, I’m pretty sure that means O positive. And the good thing about that is type O positive is the most common blood type that there is. In the United States, 36% of people have type O positive blood. Type O negative blood is 14%. And with my type, it’s like 2 3%. It’s a very rare kind of blood. So the over a third of Americans have type O blood. So that is very encouraging that there could be a larger pool to help out Nick. So it’s a situation where there’s a list, but if you want to donate it to one particular person, then they jump the list. That’s basically how the system works. So he is on dialysis. So yes, definitely prayers for him, Rusty. Absolutely. And I got a pretty good feeling with this community between the Jets, Ohio State, and all the people who know him that it will happen for him. I’ve just got a good good feeling uh about, you know, I only have two player well three player jerseys. I still have an Aaron Rogers because I just haven’t had the nerve to burn it yet. Chad Pennington and Nick Mangold. Those are the only jerseys I have. Nobody else has moved me enough to want their jersey. I did have a Derell Rivas jersey that was a gift to me from an ex-girlfriend who was a Giants fan. Uh I ripped that to shreds once uh we broke up and then a year later he went to the Patriots. So, so yeah. So, that jersey got torn and I’ve never regretted that decision. Maybe I should have sold it, but hey, it’s okay. So, Nick, not that you’re ever going to see this, but we love you, buddy. You’re going to make it through. We believe it. All right, let’s get into this. Leonard Taylor. This was a player who early on was slated as maybe a fourth round draft pick, third, fourth round draft pick. and the Jets were able to get him as an undirected free agent and I was thrilled. And last year I felt was kind of a developed middle year for him. He had a few pressures, had like nine pressures, but I thought it was a player who, you know, you could develop, who was a good pass rushing, defensive tackle. And yet, this new regime clearly didn’t look at him that way. They prioritized Derrick Naughty over him before they cut him. They prioritized J2 file over him based off one good preseason game against Green Bay and he’s done absolutely nothing since. But Taylor had been active the last couple of weeks and then finally they announce that they released him. So you watch he’s going to get claimed and he is going to be a productive player. I promise you that this is not Malachi Corly. I believe he could be a good player and I believe he will uh be a decent NFL player. I’m not saying a Pro Bowl player, but you watch next time he faces the Jets, you know, he’s going to have a sack. You know it. So, Leonard Taylor, we thank you for your year and a half. You’re a good dude. I’m sorry that this regime did not believe in you the way the previous one did. But we do have a certain tradition around here. Leonard Taylor, you are no longer a New York Jet. Therefore, be gone. Be gone. onward and upward. So, what did the Jets do to replace Leonard Taylor? Well, they decide to take a stab at addressing their rapidly fading depth at wide receiver, which is loaded with 30somes who can’t get open, who can’t catch a ball, who are very, very slow, and they draft the immortal Trenton Irwin. Have you ever heard a less inspiring name for a football player than Trenton Irwin? He looks more like a freaking zookeeper in this picture. Hime cranky. You want to tie me down? Get the freak out of here. Trenton Irwin. Und let’s get to know Trenton for a minute, why don’t we? Trenton undrafted in 2019 before finding a home with the Bengals. He spent six years there. Caught 46 passes, 601 yards, and five touchdowns. That’s nice. He’s 29 years old. His best year was 2022, three years ago. 15 passes, 231 yards, and four touchdowns. Guys, how excited can you get over Trenton Irwin? I think I want to cry. Yeah, either the Niners or Falcons would get Yeah, they’re going to get all our players, right? Grander Ali McNeel is actually coming back soon. McNeel’s looking pretty good. So, I don’t like his name and his face is untrustworthy. I I don’t know if it’s the face, the hair, or the headband. I I don’t know which of those is most unsettling. I swear to you, it looks like with You see how Let’s Let’s Let’s look closer here. You know, I’m going to get my Let me Let me make myself a little Let me get myself out of here for a minute. All right. Let’s look closer. You see how the sideburns are super dark right there? And then you have the headband. Then you have the blonde hair. I’m thinking the headband and the blonde hair are just one piece. He puts the headband and the blonde hair together at the same time. I think it’s a Trenton piece. Camo headband and bad blonde hair. A George KD wannabe. That’s what we got here, folks. Trenton Irwin. Oh, precious Jesus. Why am I Why Why am I a fan of this franchise? Why? Why? H I need to move on. Let’s go to injuries. All right. Uh we didn’t get a full full injury report today. Michael Carter the second last I’m hearing is questionable for this game. Garrett Wilston did not practice today. Hyper extended his knee. Expected to be out several weeks, but he is going to try. Just just don’t play Carolina and Cincinnati. Please. After that comes the buy. Just take the three weeks and rest. There’s no point in rushing it. It’s not like you’re trying to rush back for a playoff race. And let’s go back to Josh Reynolds. Josh Reynolds didn’t even practice today. He’s got a hip issue. So this week, our number one, our top starting receivers could be Tyler Johnson and Alan Lazard. To which I say, you know, let me just go, let me go close here. Can we please give Aren Smith a chance? The ball never gets thrown to the way of number 82. He’s getting open. He doesn’t get chances. Give him a shot. We know what Tyler Johnson is. We know what Ellen Lazard is. Let the kid play. I don’t need to see Trenton freaking Irwin. Give Bridget a shot. Give Skinner a shot. Brandon Smith older. I understand if you want to leave him on the practice squad, but give one of these two kids a chance. give us something as we continue to fall further into the into the abyss and get picked on week after week after week by the national media and fans of 31 other NFL teams. Did I sound convincing on that? Okay, thank you. Let’s do How about we start feeding Mason? What are we going to do with no Garrett Wilson? Throw it to Arian Smith. Feed Mason Taylor. start using a screen pass. The Jets have used three screen passes in six games. When you’re dealing with a blitz, when the other team is sending seven at you, how about a little to the running back and see if you can get him out in space. The screen pass has been killing us since Robert Salah came here. Why can’t we use his arm? And how about this? Let Justin Fields run. I’m going back to that again. He’s had 14 designed runs, but he’s only had seven in the last five weeks. Granted, he didn’t play one of those games. Seven in four weeks. That’s not enough. That’s not enough. He should have had four or five or six designed runs every game. Every game. He’s dealt with the concussion. Is he afraid? If he’s not afraid to throw or if he’s not afraid to run, then his ass should be on the bench. So let’s see this week what Tener Angstrand really is for the people criticizing Angstrand and he deserves it for last week for some of the play calling. Now you got a challenge Tanner. Now we’re going to get to know you. You don’t have your top receiver, your only legitimate NFL wide receiver in the lineup this week. Let’s be real. The only one. Can you work a decent offense? A decent offense. Just a decent offense. Can this offense get, let’s just say, 20 points, 20 against a Carolina defense that doesn’t do very well at stopping the pass. They stop the run. Well, can we come up with a plan to move the ball down the field and get points? You have some capable players. Figure out how to use them to the best of their ability. some of the other news that’s some of the other news that’s go that’s going on here. Yeah, let let’s pull uh let me pull this back up. Yeah, past the injuries. Rumors about Germaine Johnson. Yeah, I’ll get Yeah, we’ll get to Yeah, I’ll get to Bree in a second. So, Darius Smith just retired from Philadelphia, so they’re short on pass rushers. And there are people in Philadelphia talking about maybe we could get JJ. Yeah, you could start at least with a second round pick plus another mid uh day two pick. Two day two picks, I would say, is the starting point to get Germaine Johnson from us. We got another year, year and a half of him. He’s a great guy. He’s a wellrespected leader. Plays with heart, plays with passion. Two twos may not even be enough for me. 2023. He had seven and a half sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, 16 quarterback hits, an interception. An interception. Yeah. And 55 tackles. A very good two-way run defensive end who compliments Will McDonald very well. Rusty, I’d like to believe it. We could ask for it. Doesn’t mean we’re going to get it. But if you don’t ask for it, you don’t get it. And we have to spend a minute here on Bree Hall and about the other trade rumors going around. So tonight, what one of the things I want to talk about is who the Jets could trade before the deadline. Now the deadline is November 4th at 400 PM. So three weeks away. So Brieza has been doing the 320 and you know, you never know with a post on social media. So many of these types of posts, you can interpret it however you want. You can interpret as a trade. You can interpret it about how he’s getting used however you want. Okay? You could always view it in a prism that allows it to fit your own narrative. And I could do the same if I wanted to. But the estimate for Bree Hall right now is he could fetch a four, maybe certainly a fifth round pick. And I’ll tell you what, he’s in the last year of his contract and there are several teams that are being viewed as suitors. The Bears, the Chiefs, the Texans, the Chargers. And if it’s not a four at least, I mean, put it this way, let’s be honest, it’s going to be a late four because you got to remember, you’re trading these players to good teams, playoff contending teams. You got to figure they got to be at least 20s. So to me, you’re talking about a late fourth round pick. Once it gets down to a fifth round pick, I’m not quite so excited anymore. And by the time you get to the sixth round, it’s like, uh, who cares? But if we trade Breece at this point, all we have at running back is Isaiah Davis and Khalil Herbert, unless you want to hand the ball off to Andrew Beck. Maybe you could sign Donovan Edwards back from the Washington practice squad. But I I just don’t expect to see Brilen Allen back this year. Yeah, he might be healthy by mid December, but what’s the point of bringing him back in two or three meaningless games? The Cardinals, why? Well, you know, you’ve already got Michael Carter, you’ve already got Bam Knight. Why don’t you just complete the freaking trifecta? You know, why why not do? But I got to tell you, the way the Cardinals are playing right now, the way they’re blowing games, they’re two and four. How how much confident can you confidence can you really have that they’re going to be buyers? So, I I’d be a little bit surprised with Arizona. I’d be a little surpris Arizona is not that much different than the Jets. They got some talent. They’ll be in games, but they constantly find ways to lose. Look at the only way they were able to win a game. That comeback against Tennessee. The the fact that they won that game was absolutely absurd that they won that. The Cardinals are that not that far off from the Jets. Dude, they they Grandeer. They lost three straight games on walk-off field goals. It ain’t your year when that happens. That has never happened to any other team. Three walk-off field goals in a row. That’s That hurts. That hurts a lot. Russy wishes we get a second or a third for Bree. We Here’s the thing. We drafted him with a second. These years later, we think we’re we’re going to get a tube for him with the injuries and the fumble issues and the drop issues. We know he’s explosive, but he’s not going to get the dirty yards. If you can create some daylight for him, you might have something. Yeah, Tennessee Tennessee. Oh, yeah. Was that right with That’s right. Tennessee beat the car. Yeah. Is the other way around. That’s right. That’s right. That’s right. Yeah. It was that game of the bottom line is it was absolutely stupid. Yeah. But the Cardinals did. Yeah. Didn’t the Yeah, the Cardinals lost three straight walk-off games on field goals. Seattle. Yeah. Right. Right. San Francisco, Seattle, Tennessee. So, yeah. Tennessee beat Arizona. Oh, that’s right. Arizona won their first two games of the season. That’s right. New Orleans and Carolina, two powerhouse teams at the time. All right. Yeah. So, there Yeah. So, they’ve won two games, right? There you go. So, all right. Thanks for looking out on that one. All right. Oh, by the way, let’s do it’s uh I see it’s 700 p p.m. uh Eastern Standard Time on this Wednesday night. Uh I bet I’m going to do a quick check here, guys. Again, thank I see the chat’s growing a little bit. Hit that thumbs up button. Remember, we get to 15 likes, we’re going to spin the wheel a little bit later. All right, we still got a little ways to go. So, if you want to spin the wheel, hit that thumbs up. Ah, there we go. That’s a nice little uh uptick. There we go. Very good. All right, so that’s the deal with with Bree. I if Brillin wasn’t hurt, I’d be a lot more open to trading him. I still would trade him, but it’s got to be for the right thing. Like a fifth round, I need more than a fifth round pick. I really do. I need more than a five. Maybe a four and like a six or something like that. Maybe you could maybe that maybe but ideally I want a little more. I got to include the Williams brothers here. I got to include Quinnon and Quincy. Now Quinn I think could get you a huge haul. I think if you must get a first round pick, Quinnon Williams could fetch it for you. Plus I think he could get you another mid midday pick uh mid round pick a third and a third as well. I think you could get that for for Quinnon. But it’s a situation where Quinnon says I really want a chance to win. You know, I really want a chance to win and I know it’s not going to happen here. I would like this that I would like it to be a situation where it could be an amicable partying and the Jets trade him to a place where he has a chance to go win. We know Dallas, they like him. We know it. They wanted him in a trade for Michael Parsons. So, of course, not a situation that I want to do, but if you can get a Hall back, that’s the player who could probably fetch it for you. And Quincy Williams is on the last year of his deal. A third round pick might be fair. I’ll tell you what, do you think San Francisco could use him after Fred Warner went down for the season? You think Robert Salah wants Quincy Williams back? I think Quincy Williams is a very possible trade candidate. Very possible. And I want a third for him. All pro linebacker. I don’t care if he’s in the last year. San Francisco is going to be a contention. They got to replace one one of the maybe the best linebacker in football. I think that could happen. Another name that I don’t think is as likely, but I’m just going to throw it in as Harrison Phillips. If there’s a team looking for a veteran defensive tackle, it’d be lower value, but I’ll throw him in. And I got to mention JJ. JJ is a little bit appealing because you have that extra year of team control. And the reports are the Jets are asking for too high of a price right now. To which I say, good. There’s no pressure to trade him. I need again minimum second round pick plus an exchange of picks that benefits the Jets like a a two and a three for JJ and a five something like that and and you’d have my attention. You had me interested with day one and day two picks. Day four it’s you know it starts to drop once you get to to the fourth round and it plummets by about the late fifth sixth round. That’s kind of what I feel. And the other player I think is this one I think is likely to get traded is Michael Carter II. I think he is on his way out. Uh he has not played well. He has dealt with injury issues ever since he signed that contract. And it’s unfortunate because I really think he’s a good kid. Just the injury bug is catching up to him. Maybe he just needs a new start. And I’ll tell you what, he was a what, a six round pick. I take a six for him. I take a good six or a fifth. I’d like a fifth, but I would even accept a sixth because Brownley’s taken over. He’s a fit. I don’t see the need in keeping Michael Carter at this point. And you know what? You trade him, you shed the salary, you save $11 million each of the next two years. And the cap hit is $1.2 million through 2028 if they trade him. Okay.$1.2 million for 2026, 27, and 28. And you save $11 million. Where do I sign up for that? So that’s how I’m feeling about that’s how I’m feeling about those moves. It’s not just do you want to get this guy off the team, but what does it mean if we let him go, you know, for the salary cap? And if it’s a situation where it’s not a rental, then you have to factor that in. So, you trade Carter, you’re going to save some money, and there is some appeal to that. Wild Chew. Watch UK, my guy. Thanks, man. Watch. Yeah, Wild Chew 1792. Like that. Glad you’re here tonight. Hope you’re having a great week, brother. Uh what uh so Rusty is reporting from his uh from his sources. Oh, let’s see here. Quincy could get a third and fourth with the ners. I’m game. And Quinn in a first, second, and fourth her Tampa. You and Okay, so Rusty knows some Tampa people. All right. Yeah, Rusty sometimes does have a few scoops there. There are t There are times. There are times. All right. All right. You know what? If I would definitely make the Quincy trade, you know, Kiko looked a little bit better this week. So, Quinn in a first, a second, and a fourth. Again, keeping in mind it’s the back of all three rounds. Not the worst idea in the world because, you know, the Jets don’t have their third round pick this year. So, now you have what? Two ones, two twos, and two fours. If you really want to transform the locker room, you might have to do you might have to really consider that kind of a move. Just might not the worst idea I’ve heard. That’s as Russy has sauces. Lots of sauces. Lots of good barbecue sauce and marinara sauce and you know all comeback sauce. All kinds of sauces. All right. I’ll stop there. All right. Well, let’s uh turn the page a little bit, which we desperately need to do, and talk a little bit about the Carolina Panthers, our week seven preview. So, here are five things to know about the Carolina Panthers. Number one, their running back, Rico Dael, the former Dallas Cowboy, he is now, he has been amazing the last two weeks. He is the sixth running back in the Super Bowl era to total at least 225 total yards plus a touchdown in consecutive games. only the sixth since 1966. Pretty amazing. Carolina is fourth in offensive success rate in the NFL. Now, offensive success rate means on first down, you gain at least 50% of your yards. Second down, you gain at least 70% of of the yards to gain, and on third or fourth down, you gain 100% of the yards. So, if you get those percentages, 50% on first down, 70% of the yards to gain on second down and 100% on third or fourth down, that’s considered a successful play. And Carolina is fourth in offensive success rate in the NFL. Number three, we got to talk about this defense. This is interesting. This is a top 10 rushing defense. Carolina has allowed 50 rushing yards in their last two games combined against Miami and Dallas against Devonte Chain and Javvante Williams. Anybody worried? Little bit little bit. Here’s the thing. And just to be serious, Carolina does not have a lot of players on defense the average football fan would recognize. Like if you go to like your average sports bar down the street and say, “Hey, name three players on the Carolina defense, most of them would not be able to do it.” But the team is coming together well. So they’re again top 10 rushing defense, but at the at the same time, they have five sacks total. Not a single Panther has more than one sack all year. And they have a 2.6% sack percentage. 2. One out of 50 dropbacks, they get a sack. So Justin Fields can use all the 10, 12, 15 minutes, whatever the hell he wants to use to f to to find his play because even this offensive line should be able to hold up against this Carolina defensive line. Rusty, you don’t count. Shut up. Brandis, Rico is running against teams with extreme prejudice, then against the Fins and Cowboys. They don’t have a good run defense. Do what works. Run, run, run. Well, I’ll tell you what. If Bryce Young was my quarterback, I’d be doing the same thing. Speaking of Bryce Young, they are 3 and8 when Bryce Young turns the football over. Number five, and this goes back to what was mentioned earlier in the chat. Carolina is 3-0 at home and 0 and3 on the road. That’s right. Three. They have yet to win a road game. And hey, this may be the first game all year, the first home game where the opponent team is not traveling. Who have we had at home? Pittsburgh, Dallas, Buffalo won’t be the case this time for a change. So, that’s encouraging. So, if you’re So, if you’re looking for something optimistic about, there you go. There might be 20 30,000 empty seats at Metife Stadium on Sunday, but but that’s the size. That’s the size. All right. Okay, guys. I’ll tell you what. I think it is about that time of the week. Tony Alexio doing anything he can to take a shot at Aaron Glenn. Anything he can. Quincy is an allp pro. We better get at least a third for him and then some. It again when it’s a rental situation. But I think the injury to Fred Warner just made that very possible. But if I had have been on two two players getting traded and notice on my list the only offensive player was Bree. I didn’t list anyone else as a trade candidate. But if I had bet on two players getting traded, it’s Quincy Williams, it’s Michael Carter the second. Those are the two. And if Brilan was healthy, I would throw Bree in there maybe at number three. But I I I just I can’t I can’t right now. I just can’t do it because then what the heck do you have on offense? Again, Khalil Herbert and Isaiah Davis is your running back duo. Come on. Wild wants to throw in John Simpson as a trade candidate. off starting offensive lineman, that’s a little bit more t that’s a little tough, you know, because that’s that’s really everything. I mean, if you want to plug in Xavier Newman, I guess you could, but yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know. Here’s the thing. The Jets might want to keep John Simpson. You know, they have two free agent starting guards at the end of the year. They trade if they trade Simpson, you can pretty much rule out the chance of him coming back. So if you’re doing that, you’re basically saying, “See you.” That’s a risk you take. Wild Chu wants to play guard. That’s Well, can you play wide receiver? Because we could use a few of those. I don’t know your height, weight, uh what your 40 time is, Wild Chu, but I’m willing to bet you could contribute uh maybe two, three plays a game. I’m willing to bet on it. Oh boy. I’m so looking forward to a week where I don’t have to come in and yell. And this is me yelling three days after the game, too. What can I do? What can we do? Grin Barrett and just take it up the ass. That’s about all we do. That’s about all we do. All right. Well, on that note, there’s no nice there’s no smooth segue there. But everybody, you know what time it is. It is that time of the week. Every week, you know what happens. I head down into the labyrinth of Jets knowledge. I bust open the books. I dust off the encyclopedia of Bratannica. I pull up the Jets dark web websites and I watch you K99 challenge you the most loyal fans of the most loyal fan base in the NFL freaking L. Just how much do you know about your New York Jets? So, if you are ready, and I know you’re ready, let’s play [Music] Jets trivia. All right. 62220. Okay. Yeah. Well, depends on your BMI, but there you go. Uh Rusty, if an O does get injured, it’s basically a guarantee we go 0 and 17. Um yeah, what’s our Max? Mitchell. I’m going to plug him in. Yeah, Mitchell Newman. One or two other guys that we don’t even want to know. Yes, I calm down. Let’s see how I feel next Sunday. Billy doesn’t see the Jets being the Panthers. Billy, who what team do we see them beating right now? What’s the team now? If the defense keeps playing how they did they play last Sunday the way they if they play this Sunday the way they did last Sunday, special teams the same, they could beat a couple of teams. But the thing is with Justin Fields, we got to remember this week to week, you never know what you’re going to get with him. And I would have a pretty optimistic feel about this game if Garrett Wilson was health. If Garrett Wilson was healthy, I’ll be honest with you, I would pick the Jets to win the game. Believe it or not, I would with Garrett out and Carolina being a very good run defense team. I just don’t know how it’s going to happen. I just don’t know. But those videos are a little bit later in the week when I do my Jets preview video, when I do my five bowl predictions and score prediction video, and of course uh Thursday night when I will release the confidence picks uh video as well. Cleveland or the Saints we maybe we could beat. That’s a 50/50. Why not Cincinnati? Why not them? Yeah, I would have said Atlanta, but you never know what you’re going to get with them. Miami, I mean, is Miami still a world beater? Yeah, we know they got no shot against New England. Baltimore is still beat up as hell. I mean, if Lamar’s back, then that’s different. But if Lamar isn’t ready for that game, then who knows? I think he will be back, though. But again, with one thing we have learned, unless you’re the Jets, the NFL is a week-toeek league. Things change so quickly. Picking these games, I swear to you, it’s harder than it’s ever been. It’s like the NCAA tournament. Every year it gets harder and harder and harder. If only other things were the same way. All right, on that note, let’s go. Speaking of hard things, let’s go to trivia. Oh, Lord, forgive me. I’m sorry. I’ll see you on Sunday. Okay, tonight’s question. Now, this is going to be a Jets Panthers question. It’s a week toe league, Billy. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter what happened two weeks ago. If How could Buffalo whoop up whip us week two and get their ass whipped by Atlanta? Oh boy. All right, let’s Tonight’s question, guys. Guys, focus. Focus. All right, five minutes on the clock. Here we go. Tonight’s Jets Panthers question. Shoot. Okay, never mind. That’s the wrong question. All right, I’ll get the right I’ll get the right one up here. And if I can’t, then I’ll just have to put it in the chat. I know I put the right one in here. I know I put the right question in here. It’s still making me retrieve it. Going to this slide here. October. Okay. I don’t All right. All right, guys. I’m just going to throw the the uh question in the chat. So, uh yeah, that’s that’s my mistake. All right. So, the Jets have lost three straight games to Carolina. The first of those games was in 2013. They lost that game 30-20. The question is, who scored the only rushing touchdown for the Jets? Okay, so the question’s right there in the chat. Who scored the only rushing touchdown for the Jets versus Carolina in 2013? So few years removed from the glory days, as we might say. Wild Chu says Michael Carter. Uh yeah. Okay, so let’s let’s see here. Uh, let’s Every time I Every time I do this, this throws off my my resolution. That’s good. All right. Is the correct answer Michael Carter? No. Michael Carter was not on the Jets yet. So, 2013. Yeah, that’s why I put the CH. Yeah, that’s why I put Let’s Yeah, let’s put it right there. Who scored the only rushing touchdown for the Jets versus Carolina in 2013? It was a game we lost 30-20. There we go. Yeah. So, we can get the question on screen. There we go. It’s just not the big slide. Wild shoe says Leon Washington and Grander says, “Blah Pal.” All right. How about those? That would be a no to both. This answer is not so obvious. I will I will grant you that. Yeah, great turnout tonight. This is We really needed to do some commiserating tonight, didn’t we? Yeah. Rasheed Rice returns. Whoopy freaking do. Uh, Wild Chu says Shawn Green. Shawn Green was gone by then. Savage goes Fitzy. Is it Ryan Fitzpatrick? Fitzy didn’t come until the next year. Fitzy came in two years later. 2015 he came along. Billy and Rusty are both going with Gino Smith. How about Gino Smith? No, not quite. Grandiser tries Chris Ivory. Oh, he ran smooth like Ivory. Is it Chris Ivory? No, not Chris Ivory. coming up with some good guesses. Say this, he was a he was a big player. Big big player. Grandiser Antonio. Yep. Both said Chris Ivory. Okay. Looks like we’re strong. We got about a minute and a half to go on the clock here, boys and girls. Let’s see. Brock Bowers and Jacobe Myers did not practice for the Raiders today. My fantasy team is in trouble. Puka Nakua did not practice today either. Probably like Jeff Cumberland. No, not Jeff Cumberland. Not quite. All right. A little over a minute. Um, I’m worried if I give you the answer. He was, uh, let’s see. How can I help you with this? Big player was the first round Jets draft pick. How about that? So, you got about a minute there. Jeremy Curley. Was it a sweep? No, it was not Jeremy Curley. I’ve had a bunch of buzzers. We’ll do Freeman McNeel. I call I’ve called a friend. Was the friend Freeman McNeel Grandiser? All right. I see. I see. Was not Jeremy Curley. Wild Chu goes with Dustin Keller. How about Dustin? No, he was off the Jets by then. Yeah, his career was about over. 15 seconds, guys. I’ll give you one more hit. First round draft pick by the Jets. [Music] Three, two, one. I don’t want to give any more away than that, but it is a tr it’s a bit of a trick question. Was it Mark Sanchez? No, it was not. It was not the Sanchez. Yeah, you try try that one last minute, but unfortunately, yeah, not not correct. Okay. Oh, Billy SBC trying Tommy Bohannan. Is it Tommy Bohan? No. All right, guys. I got I gotta go ahead and give it away. The correct answer, I’m gonna type it in the chat, is defensive tackle, Sheldon Richardson. Sheldon Richardson ran for a touchdown in that game against Carolina. I If I told you he played defense, let’s be honest, that would have completely ruined it, you know. So, yeah, I I didn’t want to give any more away than that. So, yes, it was a bit of a trick question, but I try to give uh what what I could on that one. So, uh there we go. All right, guys. I’ll tell you what. Uh I think we’re going to go ahead and uh it kind of was a trick question, but honestly, you guys have been doing pretty well the last few weeks, but I only asked for one answer. Yeah, I try to vary it, you know, reasonable versus kind of challenging. So, yeah, they pulled the Yeah, because Sheldon was getting some runs back then. Yeah, he he was getting some opportunities just like Fridge. Absolutely true. So, I probably wouldn’t come up with the answer either if I’m being fair about it. So, all right, guys. I got to go lie down. Uh try to continue to heal up since I can’t really be exercising for a couple weeks. So, um yep, I’ll get better. I just hope the Jets will as well. I think that’s about the only way I could really sum it up. So everybody, thank you so much for joining me tonight as you do every week. I appreciate it. I do want to make one announcement real quick. Uh so three weeks the show that three weeks from tonight, Wednesday, November 5th. Uh we will be rescheduling that show I will be doing Hey, Scott Foster. Oh, with the late arrival. There you go. Hey, Scott. Uh so I will either be doing the show likely either Tuesday night or Thursday night. I’m going to have to reschedule that. Uh, I have another commitment that night that this one I just can’t get out of it. So, uh, right now I’m thinking maybe I’ll maybe I’ll do a try to do a Tuesday thing and a th like a Tuesday recap and then maybe a Thursday sort of preview. Maybe we’ll divide it up. I haven’t decided yet exactly what I want to do. Uh, but three weeks from now I will be rescheduling. Um, I will let you know for sure once I am able to decide on that. All right, everybody. Again, have a great night. Have a great rest of your week. Don’t let the Jets ruin your life. And I will see you all right back here with more content from, you know, where I know it was just coming up. Wicker chair, where are you? W Hey, chair. Chair. Let’s try this again. That’s it. The wicker chair. Uh, yeah. Grandiser, I just had back surgery. I’m all right. I’ll be I’ll be all right. just I have stitches in me for a couple weeks. So, but I’ll get through it. All right, everybody. Have a good night. I’ll see you later.
