Can an 8 Handicap BREAK 80 at CHAMBERS BAY?
Today on the channel, we have got a very, very special treat for you. We’re up in the Pacific Northwest, just south of Seattle, playing a course that we have played before. It is one of the top bucket list public golf courses in the United States. It’s the host of the 2015 US Open. We are at Chambers Bay. It’s obviously one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played. Last time we were here, we used a rental set of clubs, though. Today, we’ve got our own sticks and we’re going to go out there and see how low we can take it from the tip. So follow along as perfectly average golfer tries to play the tips at Chambers Bay. Privilege golfers, welcome back to the channel with you guys. Like we said, we’re at Chambers Bay. The views are unbelievable. This golf course is one of my favorite courses that I’ve had a chance to play. We played it about a year and a half ago. The game’s come a long way since that point and we’re going to try to go out here, play the tips, and see what exactly we can shoot now that we’re feeling a little bit more level, a little bit more solid, and we’re using our own clubs. So come on with me. The 2015 US Open was here. They host major aim at amateur tournaments all the time. It’s a walking only course. So, let’s enjoy the walk and let’s play all 18 from the back. See you on the T- box. All right, let’s get this round started with a 465 yd par4. Tough opening test. Even though the fairway does look large, you missed out to the left. You’re down into a huge ravine. So, we need to kick the drive out to the right. Let’s see how we’re swinging it. Let’s get this round started off right. Okay, great first drive. Thought it might be leaking a little bit. We stayed just on the right side of the fairway. The fairways here are huge. Everything else is reset. Got 150. Willing to go in. Got 9 right now. [Applause] Just a little short. We’re live. We’ll take it. [Music] Just got to hit a house. Set a little. Hit a house. Four. [Music] Wow. Wow. Stop. We got to figure it out. Hole two, 395 yard par4. And the dunes play a lot of visual trickery with you on this one. There’s a large bunker off to the left that you need to try to avoid, but it does provide the shortest route in towards this green. So, we got drive route again. Looking to go up towards the middle right bunker. Yeah, there is a little up slope in front of it. Pretty soft. I think you’re probably okay. All right. Tricky situation here, friends. 115 yds out of the track bunker. Going to go with an A iron. Just try to play a little pitch shot. To keep it a little off to the right. We got a weird lie here. Just afraid a wedge won’t get out. So, see what we get. Yeah. Get over that. Can’t believe that broke right. Thank you. Okay. Stay out of the bunkers. That’s generally a good uh good message. Yeah, let’s stay out of the bunkers. 115yard bunker shop. I don’t know. I don’t know what I got to do though. I got to watch a couple of YouTube videos or something. Outside of that though, again, playing playing all right. Tough on the first with the greens with trying to put off the off the edge and not judging the speed. Well, decent comebacker there at the end. Feeling pretty solid about how we’re reading greens. Feeling pretty solid about how driver sitting. So, just keep vibing. Move on to the next part three coming up. Hole three short par three just 165. We’re looking over toward the right side of this green here. Huge slope will kick everything right to left. And the green actually follows that same contour as well. Wait. You know, all you need to do is take a few feet off the mounds, flatten them out, put a fence up, and you get some amazing views. Good roll. Thank you. [Music] Far five for the fourth where everything plays up the hill and the fairway does kick severely left to right. Green is reachable for two if we hit a good drive here. So we definitely need to try to lay into something. Big wide open fairway. No excuses. Green light all day with driver. [Music] be really good draw to that back bunker. Look at me talking about how that might be too far. I’m sure we still take that though. We’re going to get a little pitching wedge, a little little bump and run chip. See if we can get this thing to kind of come off the left side of the flag. Get up this slope. Hopefully settle nice. Give ourselves a chance at a bird. Thank you. Yeah, it worked out nice. Thank you. Take one away from that bunker magnets. Great to get one back. And now we get teased with one of the most beautiful views on the entire golf course. Huge par4 but severely elevated tea box looking to thread the needle between both these long sets of bunkers on the left and the right. Drivers swinging well. Let’s see if we can connect with one of the hardest T-shots on the course. [Music] Come on, driver. That one, those last well, both these holes really, really, really awesome. That last par five, I don’t think we could hit four better shots than what we just put together. That drive was dead center, middle of the face. Didn’t move an inch left to right. Just vibing. Not trying to come across as anything. I’m just This golf course just puts me in a mood, man. I mean, again, we’ve played a lot of really cool golf courses on the channel. Kapalua, Tory Pines, uh things like that. And if you’re looking at more bucket list golf courses, check those videos out. But we played here once before and we did not have Driver Locked. Um we feel great right now. Really, really happy. Thanks for coming along with me. Let’s keep enjoying the walk, friends. That’s one of the better drives we’ve had in a while. Got about 144 to this pin. Little into the wind, little uphill. We’re going to go with an easy nine iron. See if we can get something pretty to look at. Well, that’s safe. We just got to get this thing into a line into a position somewhere. That’s it. I’ll take that. Come on. Oh, now that is one of the most circusbased putts we’ve had in a while. Happy to walk away with a four. And now we head into a 447 yd par4. Dog leg to the right. Opening drive just needs to stay left of this first set of bunkers. And then it’s going to be a mid-iron or wedge in depending on how much we connect with this. Huge momentum swing right now. Huge momentum swing. Hitting the ball really well right now. I’m feeling really solid. Oh man, got a lot of golf in front of us. But let’s keep this going cuz this is fun. And this is just the camera never does it justice, friends. It never does. Never. Never does. [Music] [Music] Oh, shoot. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Hole seven is one of the hardest holes on the course in my mind. Huge bunkerage that you need to carry up the right hand side and that would still be a long approach shot into an elevated green. Need to lay into one. The fairway is wide if we can connect with a good one. Oh. Center of the face just wide open. Let’s give a good lie. It’s in the grass actually. Could be. Yeah. Caught the middle of the face just open. Push it in this bunker. We got about 140 yards. A little helping wind. Normal swing here. Not trying to do any of that craziness that we did from the bunker shot before. The pin is just off the left side of this big bushy tree over the mound here. So that’s target line with pitching wedge. Come on. See if we can save something. All right, take it. Oh, left foot. We take it. [Music] There are no way. Are we kidding? I’m so glad I put the camera up there. Apparently, there’s a lot of ways to make a three. And now we go to one of the more difficult holes on the course. Highest point on the course as well, par five. Can’t be too far left, otherwise you’re in that tall grass. But if you’re too far right, everything does kick left to right. Definitely requires a thread the needle style drive. See if we can provide here at the long par 5/8. It’s close. I mean, you’re safe, either way. I didn’t see it down. Probably one. All right. Snuck off into the fescue. Have to take a drop. Hitting three. Got three wood for about 280 yards left. Try to get this thing up. Hopefully try to still save a par. [Music] Good line. It’s not going to get all the way there into the wind off the toe, but good line. Par five. Thanks. Saving it. Not going to let that get to our head. [Music] Thank you. [Music] Go. That would have been a hell of a par. About 100 ft worth of elevation from this ninth T-Box par three. We’ve got sixiron playing down to about 185, but it’s a backright pin, so if we’re short, that’s okay. Just cannot miss this thing long. Stop fing. Stop fading. It would have been the number. Stop there. Come on. [Music] Not the smoothest finish to nine, but we find ourselves teeing off onto the back 9/10 where these bunkers are really, really punishing if you find yourself in it. So, we need to thread the needle here between these two large dunes to give ourselves a chance. [Music] Stop fading. Thank you. Okay. All right. Good start to the back 9 already. Good drive. 128 50°. Uh this is kind of like a weird bowlshaped green if I remember right. So, we’re just going to try to keep it off to the right side a little bit. Put it on there. [Music] I don’t know if that got over the bunker. All right, little front nine review. Got a little squirly there at that par three, but I mean matted down grass cart pathish. It is what it is. Tuned a little bit, but overall playing really well. Got to give a big shout out to Anthony who um hooked me up, got me out here. Got a really beautiful tea time having a beautiful day. So, big shout out to him and the rest of the staff here at Chambers Bay who continue to impress every single time. Granted, it’s only the second time I’ve been here, but impressed nonetheless. I love this golf course. It is just so much fun. Layout is cool. It’s a wonderful walk. It’s strenuous one though. If you’re someone who doesn’t walk often, can eat you up a little bit. I don’t know if I made it over the bunker here. The wind up here is really, really hot. So, we’ll see if we’re on there or not. Otherwise, bunker shot. See if we can get up and down. Wow. I will take that. That’s fantastic. It’s getting a little better, too. You know, it’s not going to turn out that way. [Music] The long par4 does play straight away, but there is a large jun out in the middle that you can kind of curl around. We want to be on the left hand side leaving what would be a mid to long iron in depending on how we hit this. Stay right a little. Yeah, that’s fine. Not the greatest drive right there. We’ve got about 193 left. A little into the fan. Not much. Take a five iron. a bit blind for you guys here, but it’s I got a line in mind. It’s just over the top of this first mound. Let’s see. Career one here. [Music] That’s safe. That actually could end up pretty good if [Music] It’s a good place. [Music] The 12th is everybody’s favorite drivable par4. Very drivable. Only playing 281, but it does play up the hill. This is a huge green over the top of the slope that you can see at the edge of the fairway. So, just trying to pick something over the top to give ourselves an opportunity to get there. [Music] Get up. Get up. Yeah, it’s going to come back into the front. Go. Go. Horn. Ah. [Music] That’s so poor. Go a little. Oh, it’s good line. The shorter par 513th leaves an opportunity to try to get something here as really you just have to avoid the long line of dunes on the right hand side. Missing over to the left does kick everything back to the right. So trying to find something central and we should have a chance to get there in two. [Music] Yeah, long way in from there, but we’re all right. All right. Well, we’re off to the back nine. Got just a couple of sloppy holes and really it’s just the really just a part three. Uh, feeling really good. I did tell myself for those of you that are coming from watching Gold Mountain, which we played on our last video, if you’re in the area, you need to go check that golf course and that video out for that matter. Uh we said that we wanted to come out here and see if we can break 80. Based on how we played our last round, which was yesterday at time of this filming, um everything’s just feeling really locked in, really dialed. Putter today has really saved us quite a bit. Uh got some work to do to try to get us maybe closer to 75, but like we’re just trying to break 80. Um we’re well on on the way of doing that, so feeling really solid. Thanks for coming along for the walk with me, guys. It’s a beautiful day. It’s a beautiful golf course. It’s just you can’t there’s nothing like it. That’s all that’s all I can say. If you’re on the fence about coming out and playing this golf course, fly to Seattle, run a car, come out this way. It’s 40-minute drive from the airport. Play the golf course. It’s awesome. Let’s go hit this next ball. All right. Decent drive here. We have the ability of getting there. Short par five. 233 7wood. Got to keep it off the left side of this bunker. Should kick back to the right. So, bit of a tighter window here, but even if we’re in that bunker, it’s up and downable. So, try to get there. Try to go for it. Stay the left side of the green. [Music] bounce rate. We’ll see. Not where we wanted it. Oh, it’s a good sevenwood, friends. Kind of rolled back down to here. Now we got a really chicky tricky chip. Cheeky trip. We got to take something with the 58 and hopefully get a little bit up and over to the left hand side of this pin because it’s going to run almost straight back over to where this bunger is. We got some trouble here. See, that’s that’s really good. I think that’s closest. Yeah, I’ll take that. [Music] This is one of the more dramatic par4s. It does play about 480 or so, but it’s severely elevated off this debox. And you’ve got a huge speed slope. If you can just carry driver up towards that bunker in the middle of the fairway. You get it to the left side, it’ll kick forever and give you an opportunity to get on into easy. Good swing. feel like I’m starting to recognize a little bit of like a mental lock every now and again with driver. I don’t know if it’s just like we’re not swinging as free um as we should be or if we’re thinking too much about shaping and placing the ball when there’s tighter fairways. I feel like I’m just a little bit more restricted, a little bit more constrained. Whereas like the first par five on the front nine and then this one here, this big par4, it’s just the fairways of 200 yd wide. So I’m just going out there and swinging like it’s a driving range. That was a great launch, great little 10 yard draw. And it just felt like center of the face, just very carefree. So maybe there’s a little bit of a mental hiccup there when it comes to some of the tighter holes like the last par five, hole eight on the front. I felt like we kind of were I don’t want to be too far right, don’t want to be too far left. Uh getting a little nervy instead of just like stepping up and swinging. So something to kind of think about maybe on the range, set myself up with like a direction and kind of just work on freeing the mind up a little bit. But we really can’t complain. I mean, this has been an incredible score considering we had again one sloppy part three. Couple of really fun holes to go here. Hope you guys are enjoying. Man, this is just such a treat. Again, big shout out to Chambers, babe. Big shout out to Anthony. Huge, huge hookup getting me out here to film again. We’re playing real well, so love everything about it. Let’s go get this ball to see if we can make a birdie. Try to get one another one back here. All right, big speed slope off the mound gets us to 115 yards. A little into the wind, but I just don’t like 50°. This pin being a little bit back. So, we’re going to go with a full 54. Let me try to flight it a little bit lower. See if we can kind of control it. Maybe get a little bit of roll out with it. Go, go. All right. Is it hard? That didn’t move an inch to the right. [Music] Thanks. The signature 15th par 3 hosts the only tree on the golf course premises and a back left pin has us pulling seven iron looking for a fade that can hit the back left side of the green to see if it’ll roll back down to this pin. [Music] Oh no, I got too far under it. [Music] Thanks. [Music] Turn a sit. Hit a house. Those part threes are going to kill me. Not the way you want to play the signature. Trying to get something back here on 16. Dog leg to the right. Fairway canders left to right. And the green also pushes down towards the railroad track. So this is one of those holes that isn’t long but requires some decent shotmaking [Music] down. We’ll see. [Music] Hopefully that comes down there a little bit. Not the worst time in the world to hit a pooch drive. Kept it short at the fescue. Thank god. Still in the range. Have one more par three and a par five after this. Come on. [Music] God, give yourself a chance. [Music] Get in there. Come on. Throwing it away. Throwing away under 80. [Music] Round is getting away from us a little bit. Need to put something together here on this medium length par 3. Another elevated T- box has us pulling seven iron again. Looking to play towards the left side to see if we can kick down to this pin a touch. [Music] Where is that going? That was about as pure as I could hit. One left. What came right on the ridge. Falling apart at the end. Falling apart at the end. Really since that par three. Everything has just been feeling a little squirly. cannot hit seven iron right now. It’s the same shot as I hit in that last par three. That one was pure, but pure left. Hopefully, we can find it. Save something. Otherwise, we have to get a birdie to get to eight over. So, let’s not think about that. Next shot. Next shot. [Applause] [Music] Almost got over the slope before the green. Instead, it just didn’t have enough quite didn’t quite have enough speed and it rolled a little bit left. But that was almost really really good. Should have gone a little harder with it. I was just afraid of the slope running away. God. Settle. Turn it. Stop. Stop. Please. Please. [Music] Goodbye. Okay. And the 18th. Another tough T- shot coming home with this par five. Medium length, but you need to try to avoid the first set of bunkers that stretch up the right and not go too far to carry over towards the left set of bunkers, which can be in play. Difficulty shot. You know what we have to do. Let’s go get it. [Music] That’s in the bunker. All right, we’re not going to get there anyway. So, we’re just going to take the smart play to get over this lip with P Wedge. We know what we need to do. Come on. All right, we got to hit a golf shot here, friends. 220. Got a four iron. It’s got to be pure. [Music] Helps to be like, “God, we were right there, man. I had the same reaction when we played the first time. It’s just like two holes, two bad holes kept us from getting to where we wanted to be.” That’s what we’re going to have again here. Part 3 is all of them ate us up today. So frustrating, but still one of those golf courses it’s hard to have a frown on your face. It’s just such a treat. Such a gem. So we’re happy about it. Again, we’re going to say the same thing we did the first time we played here. I want to come back. Give my revenge cuz we were what? One over three. Oh mercy. Let’s go finish strong. Well, I can at least live with the fact that we hit that forearm right in the middle of the face versus an open face. And if it would have been good in the right line, we probably would have been in that ballpark. See if we can get up and down here for par. Just got to try to keep this thing out to the right. 50° out. Let’s go. Very nice. Thank you. Oh yeah. Nice meeting you. Gentlemen, nice to meet you. Nice meeting you. Pleasure meeting you guys. Take care of yourself, guys. Well, that round’s going to finish a lot like the first one. We’re even through seven, one over through eight, and then we start to get into double bogey territory. Started to scramble putting things back together on the back. Couldn’t get a birdie though, which is really unfortunate cuz we had a lot of looks at it. And then of course the last three holes just got maybe too much in my head about having to put together a score and just kind of fell apart. But that is still an unbelievably fun round and really honestly solid golf pretty much from start to finish with a couple of exceptions here or there. Chambers Bay man, top public golf course in the United States for a reason. Come out here, play this golf course, give some love to these guys. It’s awesome. It’s so much fun. and you’re not going to find another golf course quite like it. We’re going to sign off. I don’t know what comes up next. I think Saudi Arabia night golf might be up next. So, make sure you check out that. That’s going to be the home of live golf at Riad Golf Club if we get out there and play it. But regardless of what we play next, make sure if you’re out there trying to break 90 or 80, you stay perfectly average. Bye. [Music]
Chambers Bay is one of my favorite courses that I’ve had the chance to play, and as we’ve played it before we are going to go out and try and beat our previous score and attempt to BREAK 80 at Chambers Bay from the TIPS!

You should play the dynamite tees at the home course next! LONG COURSE and the sister course to chambers bay. Super affordable too, but they JUST punched the greens this week. Still solid no matter what
150 9 iron? 😂😂😂 not so average. More like a 6 iron for the rest of us.
we gotta play this together
holy chip in!
You should go to the ft Lewis golf course. It’s a long course 650 yard par 5 to end lol
My home course! love it!
Fairway bunker shots used to scare me a lot. My coach tells me take one club extra, to choke up just a bit and stand up a bit taller in my setup and that helps a lot! Obviously if you need to carry a lip or something, that may change, but for full shots, that is the special sauce!
A birdie on 7 is really impressive! It is the hardest hole on the course in my opinion.
Nice chip in! Lucky to live 10 minutes away. Next time hit into the left slope on #8. It will put you in the middle and save you from losing your ball. My Fav course.
Chambers Bay has missed the golf market because they only allow walkers and it is extremely hilly. This is why it is hardly ever fully booked except during the prime summer. I have hundreds of friends that would golf it with a cart. I have played it many times but not for a few years. Now that I am older (retired), I will never play it again unless carts are offered.
Excellent chip in bird on 7!!!!
the walk makes your lower back and hips tighten and you stop rotating and start hooking
Loved this, glad you came back to play with your own sticks. 4:32….what a dumb comment! Hope that wasn't from anyone you know.
First time watching your channel. My kids love the playground at the top of the north end. Great production!
Hammered drive on 2! I play chambers a handful of times a year, still giddy every time I go back. Such a relaxing round of golf on a calm day.
Thanks for sharing your experiences at Chambers Bay. I stumbled on your ch for the first time. I played here a few times, and i had gassed out on the last few holes every time.
Do away with MUSIC
Thanks for showing PNW some love
I’m also an 8 handicap and have played Chambers 4 times now, it is easily my favorite course! I feel your pain, as i’ve never broken 80 there but had a great chance to do it every time coming down the final stretch and blew it. 80, 80, 81, 81. Pretty impressive round considering you were playing from the back tees!
nice birdie on 7 that's incredible!
My guy. I just want to say this is phenomenal content. Instant follow after the first hole of this video. I've played Chambers a couple of times and each time I've hit up YouTube to try and preview how I might want to play it –this by far is my favorite video for that purpose. The pace, the editing, the yardages from each tee and tracers. And you do all of this yourself?? Amazing work – keep it up!
great driving! man i wish i could hit off the tee like that 😀
