It’s because of the wind she’s trying to get set now to save part. Well done. Now we have Rio Takida again at the first her second shot down the hill very nicely drifting in and feeding down towards that hole setting up birdie opportunity which she took advantage of to get to 14 under. Here we are in the second. Brook Matthews, the American 3-wood, launching it up the hill, landing it short, running up the tier. It just kept getting closer and closer. What a fantastic shot for And what about our leader P the first and only pred the second hole that far second and to take the lead at 17 under par. Seong Kim nearly found the water, hit it into the sand, and thankfully, if this is her third shot, her approach did not go into the water, which was really fortunate. Brooke Matthews at about 100 yards in, she was careful. She pulled it into this bunker. [Music] Need that to save par. Maria Takada to try and save par this difficult fourth. She hit it well. Oh, needed one roll more. So, back to where she started the day. 13 under par at the moment. That’s four back of Brook Matthews. But Matthews has work to do. Here is the American. Yeah, after splashing out the bunker, thought downwind it might have released more. [Applause] The greens are a little bit slower. They’ve slowed down the greens a little bit because of the wind conditions. [Applause] Yeah, gets very exposed particularly by the coast. We saw that T-shot of eight from it might dip a little meanwhile. Well, everyone’s dropping a shot here. I think the wind is expected to maybe die down a little bit. See young Kim up the hill to front pin position here on the fifth. Nicely done in one of the big professional tournaments. That tricky bunker shot we saw for Tak hitting the down slope. Just not able to get any spin on it. and it slips by. So [Applause] she now falls to one over part 11 under just just in family. Brook Henderson on the downhill eighth hole 145 playing 130 to this back pin down the slope. Well thought out and executed there. She’s got that for eagle 23 runner up in this event last year tapping in for her birdie. This is a slightly flatter lie for Rio so she can hit some height on this iron have it coming down front edge. [Music] You can just see the difference there. It’s amazing just the difference in the in the lie you can get on the fairway. I’m not sure what Seyong could have done anything different with her shot. 192 down wind lucky there. She pitched into the fairway, didn’t she? Yeah, you can take positives and negatives from that. Beautiful play. As you said, Sophie, into the wind. That was the only good thing about it. Couple of cups downhill down wind. If you don’t make eagle there, the type of birdie puts you want. No stress at all. Gets her up into that tie for third. Yeah, remember she is in a big battle with her D pair’s teammate, her compatriate. Not a huge amount in this putt. Well done. Well, there’s no doubt about it. A third of the way through this third round and a bit of a gap now between our co-leaders and the rest. Trying to punch a seven iron in. It’s good. It’s on the right level. Great stroke and result there for NASA hatoko birdie pot. 14 under par 0.6 per round which is going to add up to two shots just out the rough but coming from a nice angle. Maybe just a club short. Should be able to get up and over there. It’s only 80 yds front edge. did play back in 2022, but hardly made a cut in her first run round on the LPGA. Kim, the only one on the fairway here on seven. Can she take advantage of that? Yes, very good. [Music] [Applause] misses out on the chance for another three birdies in a row. She’s been on a few runs like that this week. That’s how you get to 17 under, but missed opportunity there. Yes, well done. It’s amazing if you miss the five feature. You’re pitching wedge here for Boutier. Beautifully [Applause] done. She doesn’t She doesn’t try and hit them too hard in these windy conditions. the short turns. Low hands executed perfectly. Oh, it hit the pin. Need to club up here. Yasha. Not seen anyone get it to the hole from that side until now. Incredible. Can take advantage after missing on the last. Yes, well done to take the lead. 18 under. Back out in front on her own inside left. Back to the eighth with Matthews to stay one back way left of this green. Heavy left to right wind. No, we haven’t seen anybody back there. What an incredible goal shot that is. Yeah, that was a fantastic shot. Standing back on that fairway, it just does not look as though there’s 10 yards left of that flag. Georgia Hall. Georgia some great iron player. And I remember telling Selen, “You’re a great putter.” She says, “Do you think so?” I said, “Everyone in the team thinks you’re a good putter.” Yi knows putting certainly improved with that club. So close to four in a row. That’s a very handy outward half of 33. Missed the bunker. Tack it up. The angle’s good. Back left pin. That’s where everyone’s been. Only three birdies on the ninth hole today. You can see I think she’s just wanting to aim this at the flag and let it perhaps drift. That started a long way left. Excellent shot. As you say, one of the few we’ve seen get it left of this flag. This is it right now. It seems stronger to me. Oh, she’s held the flight well there. Se fantastic shot. settle. Yeah, good shot. A touch unlucky. You see that little knuckle just caught the right side of it. You’re right, Sophie. She’s just starting to stand over them for just that little bit longer. I know it could be the wind, but getting a little fidgety, a little tense. flushed it. That must have looked oh so good to her through the air. [Applause] Going to get that chest over it. [Applause] That was lovely. I loved the way she played that. Took an extra club. Just kind of chip it down. As we you always say, swing easy when it’s breezy. Take that extra club. Oh, committed to it. exited left and that ball just peeled off that bunker from a divot taking this one low. Good decision. We saw Minjili from that same spot. She went higher and it came up a lot shorter there. And this pin is 47 yds on. There’s only three yds behind it. So even though she’s only a few yards off, she’s got about 55 yards. And an excellent shot. Three good shots there on 12. Very good try there from NASA. A little punch. Three quarter shot. Decided not to. hates it. And we know how slow that pup coming up’s going to be. This could get quick. Too much respect. Left herself that downhill pop up. Yeah. And a first sign of any frustration really from her. I think that’s off the back of making a little bit of a mess of the last. It’s very neatly done by Seline Bio. Excellent shot as she looks to bounce back. Here she goes. Her third shot. Punching it in low. Can she get a bit of check? Oh, could it go in? What an effort. Well, there’s a couple of sighters there for Rio Taka. Spir straight out the hole. It’s a three. Excellent shots. It just shows the strike quality of those three. We’ve seen players run through the back here and they just nip those wedges off the fairway. Third shot now into this par five for Brook Matthews here. He’s got 80 yards to cover that bunker. That is delightful by Matthews. [Applause] Well, this is where the T-shot finished then. It did clear from Jin Hi. You did well to get there. She could make a part. Well, she might even make a birdie. Yeah. Always looked like a par. Yeah. Put me down for a three. Teada. Very similar spot to Salem Boutier. Oh my goodness. And that was a very strange I would say choice of shot. You can hear the wind in the microphones. One of the most exposed parts of the of the golf course. Tires her out. Tests her patience. Take it off well back there short to that bunker. But another good iron shot. Been an American win yet. Could it be Brook Matthews? Ball below her feet trying to get it back onto this 14th green. Very good shot. Sounds different when she strikes. It doesn’t it just picking your landing spot. Land it there and let it run down to the hole. Thought you was going, didn’t you? 500 P. watching here. Got a feeling this might be a good ends up on that back level to land it there and bounce it up. It really was a good get in. Much easier from here now. Closer to the green on the up slope. Can just pop it up onto the green. It’s fast down to the hole. The line was probably down as well. She’s in the trough. It’s wet. Similar wind. I love it over on the right. [Applause] That’s really nicely done. Yeah. On 17 setting up an eagle chance. A little bit of chaos here. Sean Kim flighting it all the way. That was a classy shot. Take out the slope. Fly all the way down to the pin. Stop. Well, this is all unraveling, isn’t it, for Brook Matthews? Was she there in four? Yep. Penalty drop. Free drop from the steps. Second 16 then kind of middle left wind should help it go towards it. Good shot [Applause] playing away into the final group for tomorrow. Yimino going to try and use the slope on the left hand side of this flag. Bring it back towards it. [Applause] got away from this right hand side of the green. The wind take it. Yeah, that was a good shot. He nearly got to flirt with that bunker on the right hand side and it’s brilliant. It’s just so good. [Applause] Steady. That’s a good shot there. 170 to the front. That’s almost the number you want to play. [Applause] And it’s just that little type of break, isn’t it? Just flew that extra couple of yards. She was worried that might have caught the bunker. Normally she’s pars birdies, but she had a bit of everything today. High flight on this iron into 17. Came down so softly. She’s got that for eagle. already had one eagle today. Brooke, what she would give for another one now. Took a huge bounce. Good shot though. I think she’s responded well after that triple bogey in 15. Gave herself a birdie chance in 16. Two good shots into 17. Yeah, you’ve got about a one two yard area you really need to land it in to get it close. Choose to hit this 120. [Applause] She’s got the striking ability to hold this pin. Very good. As you say, the quality of the ball strike gets the spin on that. Able to stop it up on that top level potentially up and down to five clear heading into Sunday. Well played.
