2025 KFT Championship Presented by United Leasing and Finance Justin Suh Saturday Interview
Jess, great playing today. Just kind of talk me through your round. How are you feeling out there? I felt good. Um the last few days I’ve hit it pretty consistently. Drove it well and I mean this course just kind of demands good strategy. So I think me and my caddy are doing a good job, you know, keeping the ball in play. So I think that’s kind of the key this week. Obviously knowing where you stand on the points list, how do you feel that pressure? I mean, honestly, like there’s such a big gap between me and 20 that I feel like it’s kind of a free role in just being aggressive this week. Um, that’s kind of the attitude I’ve had coming into this week just because, you know, it wasn’t like a 50point difference. I think I’ve I’ve had quite a separation. Um, so just a good week just playing good golf and hopefully everything just kind of takes care of itself. Well, you are right in that realm. You’re quite good enough to put yourself in that situ. going to be looking at leaderboards tomorrow or doing any number crunching or just uh generally just try to make birdies. That’s kind of how I play golf anyways. Uh so we’ll just stick to that. Do you lean on kind of your experience major championships playing tons of tours out here especially with this being not your typical course? Yeah, I mean I’ve generally enjoyed playing courses that kind of demand, you know, strategy. Uh instead of just the normal week where you’re just going out there trying to make as many birdies as you can and and kind of a, you know, a getable golf course. This is one where you’re really picking your spots. And I’ve I’ve always kind of enjoy courses that like those. So, um I say it suits my game, but overall it’s just kind of a thinking golf course. So, it’s it’s fun. What would it mean to you if you were able to be a card? It’d mean a lot. Uh that’s kind of why we’re on this tour. We’re trying to get back to the PJ tour or for some guys get on to the PJ tour. So, of course, it means a lot. Is there anything that you kind of learned after getting your PJ tour a few years ago? You obviously had a tough year last year and then you won pretty early in the year this year. What did that do for your confidence? What have you kind of learned about yourself last year trying to get back to Yeah, I’ve kind of learned that golf is a it’s a humbling sport, but when you’re playing good, it feels great. Um, it’s just kind of one of those games where you don’t really know how you’re going to play, but you kind of have like an idea of where your game’s at. Um, for me personally, I’m always trying to get my game to a level where I’m comfortable and I can um compete. So, that’s just kind of the name of the game. It’s uh it’s a humbling sport and you’re just always trying to get better. I’m kind of ask a little similar just a little. How does it feel kind of playing here this week knowing that you didn’t need to shoot like 62 or 63 early on to like give yourself a chance? You’re kind of relying on your It’s definitely a lot more comforting in in the sense of, you know, most weeks you shoot two under, you lose eight to 10 spots. Um, this week, you know, you shoot a couple under and you’re moving, you know, a few spots. So, it’s it’s a different game as far as it helps weed, you know, not weed out like bad players, but it it requires a lot of consistent play through 72 holes. Um, so I think overall that just kind of fits my game a little bit better.
