[Music] What’s up everybody? This is Brandon Cawthorne doing commentary for the Greater Tulsa Open. Uh we’re playing at Hakey Creek Park and I’m joined by Braden Teezy. Yeah, we’re back. Round two, Front N. Uh, we need like a a cool nickname like B&B commentary or something. B squared. B squared. Um, we’re at the great Hakey Creek Park. Um, we talked about it the first round. This is one of my favorites in Tulsa for sure. Um, thank you to all the great sponsors for making this tournament possible. And yeah, let’s get into it. Um, thanks to the TD, Tyson Jones, assistant TD’s Ducky and Amy, and a special thanks to the Disc Deals team for bringing us this coverage. I know some players had mentioned um they wish there was more coverage out there to like get ready for a tournament and this is definitely helping players uh any anybody traveling to play Hickey Creek. Um this is a good uh way to get familiar with the course. All right. So, in the lead right now, Carter Arenss, he had the hot first round, and I think he’s got a three-stroke lead going into the second round. We got the local James Owens. This kid is going to be a problem for people in the NBA field. Um, super solid and only getting better. And we got Logan Harpool from Kansas. Um, he’s been around the game for a while. Super solid player. Currently 1020. He’s been playing great this year. TJ Real, uh, 988 rated, but clearly he’s got game. If he’s on the lead card in nature, he’s doing something right. All right, let’s get into hole one. Brought to you by Knockwood Park, one of the best parks in Kansas. Um, go check it out. Uh, this is playing as one of the harder holes. Uh you have OB left, OB right, and then the OB on the right goes all the way up to the road. And then we have this little fenced area on the left that’s also OB. This creek in front is casual. And you’re looking to either lay up right or go big off the tea and kind of stall it back to the middle. Carter looks like he’s going mid-range. Yeah, that’s like a medium aggressive layup, but I think he probably figured out that that’s the highest likelihood for landing safe and and putting the weight on the upshot. This is the early layup from James. Uh, and he overcooks it a little bit and ends up OB. He will be going to the short T drop zone. Yeah, Logan looks like he’s got driver. He’s trying to play a little more aggressive line. This can stall back. It’s gonna be great. I don’t know if that came back in. It doesn’t look like it did. I don’t know. I don’t know. TJ going big sidearm. I haven’t seen TJ play, so I’m excited. You need some help. Just the sidearm. That is an option, but it’s so far to get around on his get around that tree. So, this is a common play here from the drop zone is putting it up in that high right window. It filters pretty well towards the basket if you can get through the first layer of trees. Uh, that does not. It says OB. Uh, there is an OB line over there. I’m not sure if he was all the way across it. I guess he probably was. And Logan’s going more direct. Uh, not wanting to bring that OB into play. Kind of messing with these trees, hoping to get through. It’s hard to make putts from down in that ditch with those uh cedars blocking uh between you and the basket. This is getting a little bit too straight from TJ here, but he does squeak through and he’s going to have a look to save his par. Carter, he looked like he landed just in front of the short pad. Uh, that’s looking low. Needs it to go just a little low. Power is not bad on this hole. Uh, starting off with the birdie is definitely going to get the momentum going early. And James’ spot is way back here and he’s just looking to get up and down. Damage control in that pole. It always seems to come in to play even though it’s a lot smaller than you think. Carter just getting up and down for his par. James just looking to get off the hole. He even caught some stuff there, but he’s close enough to where that shouldn’t be an issue. Logan trying to save par here. It’s a very makeable. Great putt. Yeah, what a putt. He’s got that kind of putt where he can keep the the height low on it and uh still get it to the basket. Great par save. And TJ looking to do the same. Yeah, that’s a solid putt. It’s always nice starting your round with a 25 30footer. James cleaning up. Triple. The triple is not anyone’s start. Taking the par as well. And you can see even for our lead card, it played over par. So this hole is not a must get. Feel like James had a six there through. We got the disc and deals double take brought to you by blue sage payments. Logan starting his round off with a nice 40-footer up the hill to save the bar. Yeah, that’s a really good putt from down there. Yeah, I didn’t really count James’ shots there. Okay, hole two. Uh you got an early gap and then it opens up. The left side uh wood line is OB and it continues straight. So, there is a bunker that’s still safe over here uh just left of the drone. Now, um, most people are going to be playing a flex up the middle, trying to skip under those limbs and get up there tight to the basket. This is a good one to get. Uh, it’s a pretty specific jaw shape. Yeah, Carter looks like he’s throwing this great. Yeah, that’s perfect. You land in that bare spot under those trees, you always slide up. Um, that’s a great shot. That’s exactly what he’s looking for. Bowden’s trying to match. This is a little too up in the air. Uh, it’s moving to the left. Uh, you should be able to manage an up and down from that position. TJ taking the heiser route. This is the route that I like. Uh, I seem to get more party looks at it. This is about as bad as it gets if you get past the corner, which is 50 ft. All right. And James looking to bounce back here. He’s going that low flex line. And that’s great. Yeah, he’s thrown that shot many times. He’s birdied this hole on me many times. Many times for me as well. Logan had a gap there, but that OB’s pretty close behind the basket. Yeah, he’s content with taking the par here. See if TJ can connect on another one. A little wide. James looking to bounce back here. Yeah, that’s a good putt. Yeah, I feel like the bounce back is very important if you’ve had kind of a blowup hole. Um, get you settled right back in. If you rattle off a few pars in a row after taking a double bogey or worse, uh, it can get really hard. Uh the sense of urgency for the birdies heightens up. All right. And bringing you hole three, we got Dr. Christie disc dyes die happy. Visit our website for some of the coolest disc dies around. [Music] H three. Uh this is a par4. There’s no beine going down the left. uh separates this grass space right around midway and then you’ve got the road to the right that’s OB as well. Uh this fallen tree is actually still alive and it’s left up. I think it makes for a good addition to the hole. Um you want to eat up as much distance as possible off the T-shot to make that hiser into the green uh easier. Carter going that low flex down the middle and just clear the he the hill and that was Yeah, that’s great. James likes that same line. I prefer to be a little bit right on this and then you don’t have to throw as much of a working right to left shot to get around that tree into the basket. Logan going the straight backand. This should land about where everybody else has a little bit further. Yeah, that’s great. TJ with the forehand. This looks good as well. They’re all going to be in position to get the birdie. That was a great forehand by TJ. He’s got some power. And this is kind of what you’re left with. Just the openheiser. The main thing is just getting around the last tree. Yeah, that tree sits at about 30 to 35 feet. Uh, leave you with a lengthy bid. I do like this option with that tree being down. It’s just straight at it if you are too far left off of the TE. Yeah, that was perfect. Yeah, that was great. Logan likes it. He said, I’m going to do that, too. Another laser straight at the basket. Good shot. Jay going with the sidearm down the left side. That must be his uh most comfortable shot. Yeah, for sure. And I can see why. Oh yeah. Oh gosh. Lead card showing you how to play this hole. Um all great position off the tee and make easy work of the second shot. James two in a row after the big number on hole one. That’s a great way to bounce back. There’s another birdie. We’re well on our way to a starf tapping in and light work for Carter. Straddle putter. I like it. All right, looks like that card went full constellation. Good star frame indeed. All right, hope forward brought to you by Idio shoes. Scan the QR code and use disc and deals to save off your next pair. They are the best disc golf shoes on the market. 04. We got a par three here. Um, the drone’s going to fly the route that most people are going to take. Uh, I think if you throw 412 feet, you’re probably in the road, which is OB. Um, but it’d be a pretty easy three if you did that. The forehand’s the best option in my mind. The right side, there is a flex line to play over there as well. Most of these guys, I think, are going to take the forehand. Yeah, Carter pin high just a little wide. I think it stood up a little bit more than he was wanting. James thrown this hole a thousand times. Little inside. Does it get through? It does not. Logan taking the forehand as well. That stays out there. Yeah, he got around. Yeah, that’s going to be fine. We knew TJ was going with the sidearm. Yeah, no surprise there. I like this one the best out of them. Looks like it’s coming in good pace and yeah, right there for the bird. James, long look here. Didn’t like it out the hand, but it’s fine for par. This is definitely one you’re looking to get if you’re on lead card. Kind of nothing really in the way. Carter’s got the straddle around the tree. Oh, what a putt. Yeah, that’s a good connection there. I walk it in. There’s a birdie for Mr. Harpool. TJ going to clean up here. Closest off the tee. Yeah, good putt from TJ. Looks like we’ll have three birdies, one par. Yeah, hopefully James doesn’t let that bother him too much with the the bad first hole. Um he followed it up with a couple of good birdies. This is one that you definitely want to get. All right, we got that discan deals double take brought to you by Blue Sage Payments. What a putt. Straddle around the tree. Could only see part of the basket. And he’s got three in a row. [Music] [Music] All right, thanks again to Idaho shoes and let’s get into hole five hole five 424 par three we got OB on the right dividing the fairways between five and seven and then we have Obie on the left um you have this middle gap backhand or sidearm or you can go wide backhand turnover the sidearm brings in this right side creek OB as you can see as you get closer to the basket that is all OB and looks like Carter’s going with the flex side arm. Yeah, that’s exactly what you’re looking for if the skip isn’t too big. Yeah, he’s going to like that. Yes, I do. Logan going down the middle with the backhand here. Oh, it’s got a turn. This is in danger of the left side. OB. Oh, he’s found it. Yeah, that’s the issue with the back end. ceiling’s so low, so it’s hard to commit to the turnover and have it not cut roll or leak out left like that. This might be in danger of the right side. OB will be He’s found it. Sometimes you get a skip up there by the green and sometimes you don’t. Depends on what angle you come in. James going. I think you want a little more turn on that. This also could find that OB and he does. Logan for the long look at saving the par just a little high. This is the only birdie book that we have. Good spot to be in if you’re leading the tournament and to connect on it as well or putt. Strokes on folks. That’s four in a row for Carter. He’s picking up right where he left off. DJ just a little wide on the par save. Look, James looking minimize the mistakes here. Save his par. Yeah, good putt. Yeah, that’s solid. His putting looked so good this season. And the bogey save is in. Logan looking to clean up his bogey. All right, so we had two bogeies, a par and a birdie. This is a hole that does create some separation, some excitement. All right, and our next hole six brought to you by Ducks Flying Disc Shop. Uh it’s in the Witchaw area. Check it out for anything disc golf and it’s located on a great property um with two courses on the property. So definitely go check them out. We got hole 6 526 par4. We have OB on the right and then OB on the left. A little triangle and then all the woods are safe but definitely natural OB. You’re looking to land right in here and then kind of a tricky approach depending on where you land. Or you can try to pierce the gap like we saw Charlie do in round one. But it’s definitely a tough second shot, but you’re just looking to get him bounce off the te. Here’s the hiser out. It does look like he’s pressing the gap. See how his distance is. Yeah, that’s okay. He’s probably going to have to go to a stretch out forehand. James probably looking at swinging a little wider. Yeah, this looks better. Yeah, the further away you are from that gap, the more angles you are able to create for the second shot. James is going to like that spot. Logan throwing the same. He’s got this a little wider and lower, so he should have better look. And like like Brandon’s saying, from there, he can kind of shape the gap how he wants. TJ with the backhand. And it looks like he’s trying to press the gap. And he’s done it. It’s just I don’t think the aggression is worth it. I’d rather be 50t away uh to be able to work something through the gap instead of have to scramble through it. Yeah. And Logan throws that shot. That’s great. To perfection. Phenomenal. James going the sidearm. Missed the last one. Yep, that’s great. Carter, we’re in turnover here. Kicks early. That’s the problem with trying to press the gap. If you land a little short like that, you kind of got to create your angle. TJ was a little more right. So, you know, that’s better line. Holy gosh. Yeah, if you can see it. The basket’s scared. TJ, just a little low. James was just saying to Logan, “This is a birdie. You can go ahead and count it.” birdie. He’s bounced back well from this whole one. Good to see Logan. Logan says same score. Same score. TJ going to tap into par as well as Carter. Par’s fine on this hole. Um if you do get out of position, it’s pretty easy to end up taking worse par. You don’t want that. All right, now we got Hole 7 brought to you by Double Par Designs. Uh, visit the website today for design help for tournament flyers, custom hot stamps, logos, or so when you get graphics. Um, they can kind of do it all. We’re in the hole seven. Seven is a par4. There’s a an OB line over to the right. The left OB uh comes into play. Also, you’re probably trying to get like anywhere from 400 450 off the tee. That creek that you just crossed is casual. Uh, and if you succeed with the T-OT, then the approach is not very difficult. Just a couple trees to beat. James got the box. Looks a little inside. As long as this just grabs, it’s fine. Yeah, that’s great. That’s what power will get you. We’ll go right through those lens. Logan little more right. might have tugged it up just a little bit. If this stays clean, it’s going to be just fine, though. And he does. There is some standing water there. You can get some casual relief from it if you want, but you’re taking relief like 50 feetther back. So, a lot of people are standing in it if they have their waterproof shoes on. Yeah, Carter just placing this one. And that is perfect. TJ’s got a good move on this. We need a little lake stability. It hits the tree, but he should be able to manufacture something from there. Yeah, with this sidearm. I imagine it’s light in the spot. Yep. Oh, this looks good. Catch the skip and it’s right next to it. Yeah, great shot. Good shot, Logan in the water. Those are not waterproof shoes. Those are not waterproof. He does not care. He’s a veteran. He knows he’d rather just get the birdie and deal with wet feet. It’s not going to bother him. Hey, it was worth it. Park job. James going down the middle gap. It’s a little early. We still work out most of the time. He’s going to have about 20 feet left. Carter looks like he’s just going right at it with the putter. He’s been throwing this this disc. Well, I’d imagine it’s some sort of an overstable putter that he’s eating straight. And that’s great. James furthest out. He said birdie. Look at that. Putting his head down before it even hits the chains. Yeah, that’s a no doubter. Those putts feel good when you let go and you they can’t do anything to find the bottom of the basket. Carter, good birdie. We might have another star frame. It’s looking likely. What are we calling that? A full constellation. Full constellation for the boys. Well done, guys. Starframe. It’s kind of what you expect on this hole, especially from our lead card. All right, we got hole eight 446. Uh, we got this tree in the middle of the fairway that you’re kind of wanting to bend your backhand or sidearm around to the left. We have OB left and right and deep as well. Um, for this lead card, everybody on this card bombs. This should be a good opportunity for birdie. Yeah, James likes to throw. I think this is a fairway driver. Is it a savant that he throws here? Yeah, this is his He doesn’t get this turned well, but it’s not going to fade out too bad. Uh there’s a bubble over there for the shots that are missed. You’d have to be pretty errant on the angle in order to end up opening left. Logan correcting a little bit. This just a little low. There’s some stability and it’ll be okay. Yeah, that’s a circle, too. Look, the beauty of these guys throwing so far is they can go fairway driver and the miss is minimized. All right. He’s looking for this to unwind a little bit. The path does come into play deep and he’s found it. Yeah, he’ll be putting from circle two to save his par, but just a little overturned. TJ going sidearm. This is a big sidearm. It is. I like this angle. He’s gone overstable on the force over angle. This thing is going to get up there pretty tight. Oh my gosh. He’s got a canon for almost long. No, there’s no way my arm would fall off. James, a long look. Oh, that was so close. He liked it. Carter looking to save his part to stay clean. Oh, and there’s another one. Dude, this guy is on it with the putter. Good for him. What a putt. Yeah, he gave us a little smile there. He knew. Logan says this is for birdie. Oh, just a little short. TJ put back to the basket. That does not happen a lot here. No. Oh, go in there. With it. He doesn’t like it. But you know what? It’s a two on the scorecard. Yep. Take that. No pictures. A park clean up. And you’re gonna have one more par clean up from Logan. That’s a really good putt from Carter to be able to save his par. It doesn’t kill his momentum. If anything, I think it actually helps it. He’s frustrated with the T-shot to send it into the out of bounds, but uh the band-aid of a putt keeps him from bleeding off a stroke. All right, we got the disc and deal double take brought to you by Blueage Payments. Carter with a nice 45-footer. Save the par. That’s pure. And keeps him clean on the front nine. That’s huge. Be sure to join us on the back nine to see how this round plays out. All right, we got last hole in the front nine. Hole nine. 382. This limb that we’re flying under right now is kind of birdie killer. Um there’s no beeline right and then all the woods on the left are OB as well. Um, I imagine these guys can all go Firebird speed, nine-speed fairway to minimize the skip and not miss as much right or left. Yeah, I like this. This is going to get past the corner. If it settles down before the late OB line, and I think he does, that’s going to be another opportunity for birdie. James, this is wide. Sometimes this doesn’t scale. Yeah, you can see it kind of just got gobbled up. Yeah, he’s gonna be in circle, too. Logan, this looks great. Yeah, if it misses that limb right there. And it does. So, he’s going to be deep in servo one. Carter going the lower hiser. And he gets a little bit of a skip, but he’ll still probably be in C2 there. Looks really good from that range. So, we’ll see if he can keep the streak going. James trying to get a long one here. Oh, just a little wide. Carter trying to get another one. He was with the straddle. Little stepper. Oh, just a little high. Right on line. Just a little too much pace. Logan looking to connect from circle one. That’s on the stripe. That’s a good putt. He’s getting strokes on a couple of the card mates. Maybe three of them. I think TJ should be good for this one. Yeah, and he is. Good putt from TJ. That’s great that he was able to stay in bounds. That OB line does come into play and you skip more by the basket. As you can see, it’s more bare. James cleaning up here and he’s able to get back to one under. So, it wasn’t a start James was looking for, but grabbed quite a few birds on the front to get back to one under. Yeah, he’s he’s still fighting. He can salvage it around here with a solid back nine. All right, thank you guys for joining us on the front nine. Be sure to stay tuned for the back nine. And you can see Carter still holding on to that lead, but we got Caleb Bruce charging and Jonathan Fletcher. Um, should be interesting to see how it plays out on the back. B squ signing off. B squ.
