LEBANON, Pa. – Guillermo Salazar finished the opening round of the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Golf Championships tied for second place after carding an even-par 72 at Iron Valley Golf Club on Friday.

As a team, IUP sits in fifth place after round one. The Crimson Hawks (301) are just six shots off the lead, with Shepherd and West Chester tied atop the leaderboard at 295.

Shepherd’s Morgan Dehoff was the only player in the field to shoot under par on Friday, firing a bogey-free 67 (-5). Salazar is part of a four-way tie for second in a tightly packed individual leaderboard.

A former PSAC medalist in 2022, Salazar rebounded from a double bogey on his opening hole to shoot one-under on the back nine. He carded two birdies over his final six holes to close out a steady round.

Alex Swinnerton also finds himself in contention, tied for ninth after a two-over 74. He was bogey-free through nine holes and is just two strokes back of the second-place group.

Trevor Todd recorded one of his strongest rounds of the season, posting a 75 to finish the day tied for 15th. Rounding out the IUP lineup were Zaiden Dennis (T32nd) and Ben De Castro (T37th).

As a team, the Crimson Hawks led the field in par-five scoring, playing those holes at a collective nine-under par. Salazar and De Castro (who made an eagle) each finished three-under on the par-fives.
