Back in their normal home white uniforms, black Pinstripes, the Astros wearing their bright orange alternate jerseys with gray pants. Jeremy Pena will lead it off the shortstop. Here we go. First pitch from Bryce Wilson on the ground. It is Rojas with his first chance and he will make the play. Here’s Jose Altuve the left fielder. Good start for Bryce wilson and that’s why the chase rate is up there doesn’t like to walk very much and we will swing it just about anything. The two swing and a miss strike three. That’s a good start for wilson. Couple of Ks in the first Astros go in order. We head to the bottom of the first nothing, nothing there. He is Lance mccullers junior back on the mound for the Houston Astros. It has been a while and it feels good to see him out there. It’s got to feel amazing for him to be on that bump in a big league game. Last time he was out there in a regular season game was back there on September 21st against the Tampa Bay Rays. But here he’s happy to be in Chicago pitching against a team that he has great career numbers against Myra grounds one near the bag at third with a strong throw across and Lance gets a ground out to start this one. This one driven out to left field and Miguel Vargas will have a one out single here in the first inning mccullers made a mistake with that slider and Vargas was able to pounce on it. So you see the slider once again , it’s about low three quarters and this one stayed up and out over the plate. There we go, swing and a Miss lance picks up his first strikeout since 2022. He gets it with Pat and curveball. It’s this one hard to left field coming on is altuve and it bounces in front of him. Vargas goes first to third and the White Sox have something going with two outs here in this first, the 10, robert running, the pitches are struck a bobble by Caratini. He will not make a throw. Robert with his A L best 14th stolen base. If you’re Edgar Carro, you’ve got to be aware that even when he’s behind in the count mccullers will still throw that breaking stuff to you. He’s not afraid to throw in almost every pitch. If he has to chopper off the plate, can’t get there. Can Rogers in time. Rogers takes a dive after making that throw as the Astros avoid a run in the first inning back for lance mccullers junior. So the bases are loaded for Brendan Rodgers. So Rogers comes to the play one for three yesterday, but that’s not indicative of how hard he hit the ball and he has been here for a little while. Two pitch, got him swinging Ethan Katz said it has worked to get Bryce wilson back on track. He might have said, you know what, I got a game plan for you , throw some strikes Dub-n hitting 29 in 18 games, 261 on base percentage. No homers four driven in and he hits this one up the middle and in the center for a base hit that will score. Caratini Dezo around third and coming home, he will score as well sliding in the third safely just ahead of the throw. Jake Myers down to second goes Dub-n after a two run single two to nothing Astros swing and a miss got him on a good changeup down and away and Rojas strikes out the second for colors that changeup just dive bomb down off the plate and they’re going to extend this inning, which is a good thing because mccullers is on a fairly strict pitch limit today, maybe a trip to the mound in order as the colors has had some problems. So Carini goes out there whatever it is. Rust, who knows? But he’s thrown 49 pitches and you’d really like to make him pay here and get on the board. Here comes the 32 to Vargas and he pops it up right side of the infield Rogers going out coming in as the it’s Rogers who makes the catch and the side is retired. So lance mccullers loads the bases with two outs but Wiggles out of trouble. This one is hammered down the line in left and just foul. That was a rocket. It was a hanging breaking ball and unfortunately it hooked swing and a foul tip caught by Caratini. Lance has his third strikeout one in every inning and two away here in the third. Carro hits it to the right side back in it nicely by Walker. He flips it to lance for the second time in the inning and there is the first clean inning of the day. Lance mccullers junior get the 345 hitters in order for the Astros bottom of the order has set things up for the nine hole hitter. Maurico Dub-n a 12 popped up in the right not deep. Palacios will make the catch. Myers is going to stay put at second as Palacios just fired all the way to Rojas runners about ready to take off and Myers gets picked off second. He was dancing around and they told Wilson to disengage and he spun around and threw him out at second and hits the ball into center field for a base hit Rogers will stop at second. So that pick off really hurts as Myers probably would have scored on that single to center instead his first with two out in situations like this tends to get a little more aggressive. So I got the first pitches last time, which is great but strikes out here swing and a Miss by altuve, they leave a couple, we head to the bottom of the fourth. Still two Astros. Last time pitch for the Astros is game three in the World Series in Philadelphia. And remember the next day after a party in Philadelphia for the Phillies and their fans, the Astros through the no hitter. So goes after one over the zone checks with home plate umpire Shane Livensparger who tells him that would have been ball four, but that’s out. Number two for Lance, here’s the payoff and ball four. Palacios gets a walk. This one had the entire strike zone but Palacios will take it getting at the point now where they don’t want to take a chance on mccullers and Lance will depart with 87 pitches should have been four shutout innings instead of three and two thirds in the league with runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs. Taylor Scott will be the new pitcher ground ball towards the hole cut off by Dub-n squares up and throws a strike. That’s the final out of the inning. Lance mccullers junior ends up with three and two thirds innings of shutout baseball. Thanks to an assist from Taylor scott. Here’s Zack Dezo one for two with a single and a run scored. Guys went high and deep to left field that is gone. Astro zack Deszo hits a 2 to 2 pitch out. That’s his first home run of 2025 Astros double up their lead from 20 to 40. Thanks to zack Deszo. Bryce wilson went as far as he could go. Almost got through five innings but 89 pitches two and one on Benintendi, Ryan Gusto Benintendi gets under one way up in the air out in the shadow, right? Rogers looking for help and deok it and Benet will end up at second base. It looked routine but looked like it hit the heel of Deos glove for a two base error. So two outs bases still loaded for Josh Rojas zero for two in his first game of the season off the injured list. A four pitch walk first RB I for Rojas as Gusta walks in a run. So robert is at third Caro at second Rojas at first representing the tying run and Lain Sousa represents the go ahead run at the plate. He’s walked and struck out today swing and a base hit center field. Robert scores Carroll coming around. He’s in, it’s a one run ball game. Well, he didn’t really have to cut down on his swing. He just barreled up a missile up the middle. Robert with two outs, single strikeout walk steal and a run. This one is dumped into center field, my drop, he’s being waved in. He will score and we are all tied here in the sixth inning. Robert Junior comes through with an RB I single. There he goes the pitch out, throw down a second and he steals steals second base. Luis Robert Junior, one of the best in the game. Second solo base of the day and will drive him in Robert Jr being waved home the Sox take their first lead today here in the sixth inning, second hit for Edgar eighth driven in none bigger than that. Roger has his crew get the tarp out and cover the field. The good news is the White Sox were down 4 to 0. Come all the way back and take the lead 5 to 4 as this game will be in a rain delay as we were about to start the bottom of the seventh inning. The fireworks are going off now because the Sox win. It is now official. They have called it now here in the seventh inning. Our final score, White Sox with a 5 to 4 win over the Astros.
