Entrevista a Tom McKibbin
All right, thanks Tom for for your time. Um, second appearance on the Spanish Open. Uh, how does it feel to play in front of the Spanish crowd? Yeah, it’s great. Um, I came here two years ago and only got the experience two rounds of it. Um, so to play play all four this this week will be cool. You know, the fans have been been great. A lot of good support and um, the golf course is very good as well. So, having a having a good time. Are you enjoying Madrid? Enjoying the city? Yeah, absolutely. We went in on uh on Monday afternoon, had a walk around. Um we’ve had some really good food. Um yeah, it’s great. I I can’t wait to to hopefully keep coming back here. Second round to today when the tournament. Yesterday you did par. Uh today 600. Uh it’s starting to look really really good. Yeah, I played nicely. I um everything sort of felt a little off. Yesterday I didn’t feel great. Um sort of a little bit still recovering from last week in the wind. Um, and I just seem to to play a little bit nicer today. It’s the course is very tricky with uh quite firm greens and and narrow fairways. So, very happy with with today. A little less wine today than yesterday or is just the the the wrong feeling? Uh, probably a little bit of both. I didn’t feel great yesterday at all. Um, my swing sort of felt out a little bit. My body felt a little stiff. Um, and today I felt sort of a lot better. Um, so yeah, I think the wind is not as strong as yesterday either, which which made it probably a little bit easier, but um, yeah, again, very happy with with the round. Five birdies plus one eagle. Um, c can you tell us how did you leave that eagle that you made? Yeah, I hit I hit a good drive down um, the seven and I think I had 235 to the pin. I hit four iron to about 15 ft and held the putt. Uh this year you played for the first time another of our you know top courses that is Valerama. How did it felt? Uh first time playing that course. Did it feel challenge or did you like it? Did you enjoy the Yeah. Um it’s certainly a challenge. It’s uh it’s obviously very difficult um off the tea and and the greens are very fast and sloppy. Um I think it was it was very windy when we played as well. So that made it uh even trickier. So I I I loved it. I loved the sort of hard hard style of golf courses. So, um, yeah, it was good fun. And, and we know you have a kind of a close relationship with Rory Mroy. How did it feel when you saw him winning the Masters this year and completing the career Grand Slam? Yeah, it was uh, it was great. You know, it was it was a very stressful watch on the Sunday. Um, you know, so happy for him. You know, that’s what he’s been been going for for for nearly 10 years. Um, and yeah, to see him see him achieve that was was really cool. Last one. Uh, regarding Legion 13, you guys won the team championship, John won the individual uh, championship as well. How can you improve this? Is there any way that you can plan to to get an improvement? Uh, I don’t know. I mean, I think if we all keep getting better, it’ll be uh, it’ll be another fun year next year. Um, last year was a lot of fun, you know, with with John winning the invid in individual uh, title. Um, and then obviously us winning the the team title was uh was pretty cool. you know, the sort of the way it all panned out, playoffs and everything. It was uh yeah, it was a lot of fun. So, hopefully we can continue on next year. Uh, regarding the tournament, now it’s a there’s a lot of people still playing, but now you are on in the top 10 and a very good position. Are you looking forward to uh get on the Sunday with a good chance of winning the tournament? Yeah, that would be nice. You know, that’s sort of why we come and and play these, you know, to try and give ourselves chances. Um, come there on Sunday. So, hopefully hopefully there’s a chance there at the weekend.
