Hi, it’s Dan Webster here at Len Golf Academy. Welcome back to the channel. Those of you that are subscribers, thank you for that. Those that aren’t, go on. I would love it if you hit that subscribe button for more free content. Today, I’m going to give you three key tips to help you strike your irons better. And when I say strike your irons, we want to hit ball then turf and give that crunch. You know, the tour pro sound that you hear and you might watch. Well, I’m going to show you today how to do that, how to create that to pro strike. So, first of all, the reason you’re not striking a ball so well with your irions is because you’re generally, this is a ball, it’s my fist, but it’s a ball. You’re generally hitting the ball like this. So, you’re grounding the club first before you hit the ball. That is not a good strike. We want to create something you might have heard of called forward shaft lean. We want to hit the ball with the shaft slightly ahead of the blade at impact. And we want to crunch that ball into the ground. So, first thing we’re going to do in my setup ball towards the middle of my stance. As I get into impact, I need to make sure I’m on this left side. Okay? So, I need to make sure I’ve already moved onto my left side. So, a simple tip here. If you move off the ball, you’ve got a long way to get back. And that sway is not helpful for a great strike. So, as you swing back, I want you to maybe feel as though your hips are turning, not swaying. So, turn behind you. You’ll see a lot of the best players, they will do this. They turn and as they start the down swing, they move across into that left side and explode through. So, that’s point one. I’m going to demonstrate that. So, a nice turn there. There’s a really solid compression into the back of ball. So, turn, don’t slide. Okay. Number two, we’re gonna create that forward shaft lean. So, as as you start your down swing, we don’t want the club to be thrown from the top. That’s not bad in some circumstances, maybe getting speed with the driver, but you don’t want that here. So, as you’re getting into impact, you want to try and keep the hands ahead of the blade all the way through the swing and don’t throw it. Now, a nice simple way to do that, shorten your back swing a little bit, keep this left arm leading and turn your hips, turn your body through the shot. So, I’ll do the same again there. And I can see I’ve really managed to get that body turning, lower half turning and almost a Tommy Fleetwood style follow through. That gives me that forward shaffling holding the club off a little bit. We also see a much more uh punchier or lower flighted shot when you keep the hands ahead. If you’re struggling scooping it, popping the ball up in the air, it’s going nowhere. That is one of the reasons. Could be many others. Obviously, go and spend some time with your local PJ professional, your coach, learn a little bit about your swing. Remember, these are three simple pointers to help you with the game. And the third one, it’s essential you finish that swing on the left foot. We don’t want to hit a golf ball and finish over here. So, take yourself a second or two once you’ve hit the ball to see where you are. And you know, there’s somebody doing quite well with the golf at the minute, Scotty Sheffler. He’s over there after impact. He’s dancing. He’s over on that left side. Make sure Let’s see if I can do it. So, one, hip turn. Two, forward shaft. Three, finish on the left side there. Right across. That was a great strike. Even a club tool there. right across on that left side after impact. Hope those three points have helped you. Comment below if you’ve tried them.
