Mitch and Joe are back at Black Sheep to try out some of the most recently released wedges of 2025 – Taylormade’s MG5, Cleveland’s CBZ, and Callaway’s Opus SP! Tag along for some chill banter, some epic flops, and plenty of trips to the sand as Mitch and Joe weigh which wedge might end up in their bags.

You know, I like the look of this Opus SP. Uh, it looks really kind of similar to the SN10. To me, it’s like a Ping Glide. Ping Glide. Like the Ping. Yeah, I think that’s completely wrong. [Music] Welcome back everybody. We’re out here at Black Sheep. Joe and Mitch. We’re going to be hitting some wedge shots. We’ve got the Cleveland CBZ, the new Tailor Made uh MG5. Right. And then we’ve got the the Callaway Opus SP. All right. With the MG5 tailor made. I uh I’m actually so I used to hit all the MGs. I think I stopped. Nice. I um I uh right of passage to put the first one in the I mean in the bunker. You know, I’m going to hit full swing line so it goes over. Perf. Um I used to play nothing. No commentary on that. I said that sounded nice. He said PF. God, the amount of like a claim you need from others is Oh, he was just willing that one to not go over the boat. I know. I really wanted that one to plug. Oh my. It’s It is actually like How did your divot end up back here? Yeah, I kicked it. That is a historically. That was bad. So, I did used to I used to buy the MG. That’s why I went to the SM10s from the MG4s was because that happens with the with the MG4s. I went from these to the SM2. And so, I’m a little curious. Are these still raw face? Yeah. Yeah. Please go. Please go. [Laughter] That’s unreal. There it is. Good shot. Good shot. Very Hey, great shot. It won’t be a ton of check the way I hit it, but I’m going to try your method. Oh my god. Spin it. So, I will say I think the loopier swing I do have more confidence in. There it is. I’ll just check. Now I’m excited because uh we got we got the bunker ones out of the way. Yeah. Well, we hit some bad ones. This this is meant for forgiveness. So, I kind of want to see what it does for us. Which one we got? This is the uh Cleveland RBZ. CBC CBZ. Get down. There we go. If we don’t literally send it to the driving range, we All right. I just got to hit it harder then. I’m just No, you’re just chunking it. Fair. Come on. That’ll play. That was L. That’s all that it takes. As long as it doesn’t go in the bunker, it’s fine. All right. I’m done hitting down on it. We’re just flopping the snot out of there. That’s what I’m There’s just something Oh my god. My closest one of the day. You can’t go in the bunker if you don’t get it to the bunker. Yeah, I know. I know. Wow. Just got to show off. So pretty. Just got to sit. See it? Let’s see it. CBZ. Oh, kind of did. String. It’s probably why you were headed to the bunker. 100%. Yeah. You didn’t take your time. Pretty good. How’s it working? All right. I got There you go. You uh seem to like that. Did you just hit it like you’re you’re close? You play you play Vokis? I do. I do. You did this just the same. Like didn’t feel any difference or No, I mean I it felt different, but it I like that bounce of like 10 versus the MG5 of eight. See how much easier that is to get through it and still get it in the bunker. I just It just runs up on me. There it is. It reacts well on the green. I will give it that. seems to have a lot more bite than the uh MGs did. There it is. That was chunked. You chunked a little, but you still still Yeah. Wow. It did. Still glides into the ball. It really did. All right. I think that’s a great wedge for you, Tim. I uh I stand corrected. That felt better than I thought it would. You know, I like the look of this Opus SP. Uh, it looks really kind of similar to um I don’t remember the SM10. To me, it’s like the Ping Glide. The Ping Glide. Like the Ping. Yeah. I think that’s completely wrong. For me, when I when I see a wedge, like I like seeing like the the toe to be a little bit thicker up here cuz that tells me there’s more weight, a little bit more weighting. I can flight it down. Clipped that one real nice. Yeah. Thanks. But it rolled. Yeah, it was a little toe. Okay. But like that’s a good miss. Might be the one. The one-handed finish. It’s going to be a part of the day I won’t forget. Yeah, this guy. Look at this guy. Thanks. Good shot. I mean, it’s it’s not what you’re looking for, but I pulled it. There’s a lot of pressure there. I really wanted to not get in the Yeah. Like that’s that’s what I was going for there. Well, it’s just funny because I I like this is what I do and I notice like you’re just bruising it. You’re putting a little bit of a divot, but you’re just bruising the ground. For me to ensure I get good contact, I really have to have a negative attack. You’ve really been ensuring good contact spin. Oh, I think that’s in the far bunker. Oh, better contact. That just sounded nice. Like I truly want to know, Mitch. Just talk me through it real quick. I’m I dig in that leading edge. Is it Is it Am I not releasing quick enough? Set up to it. Let me just see where you’re at first. So, when I set up Yeah. See, I’m playing it more up in my stance. So, go back. Yeah. I’m going there. Are you opening it at all? I am a little bit. And I’m keeping my weight on my left foot. Try that. Do a touch of that, too. Wait on the And then Okay. You just put it back in your stance again. I did. Yeah. There you go. So, right there. Right there. Okay. See? Let’s do one more of those. See what I mean? Let’s do one more of those. So, I was just creeping it back in my stance. Yeah. All right. I mean, and if you were hitting a low shot and we were closer, like that’s easy. The crazy thing is is earlier in the day that you’re using me to do. Okay. Little chunk. Wind really got that. Yeah, it got windy fast. Yeah. See, I think I’m really open compared to you guys when I do this. And I don’t know if it’s just there’s so much more confidence there. That’s about how much I was really. I think around there. You might be a little bit more like I might chunk it. I have less likely to chunk it. More likely to run it up the face. Where do you feel like your weight is though? So, right now it’s middle, but I’ll go to here. I’ll be about here. Yeah. Okay. Just 60 70% of your weight in your left foot. Yep. Yeah. See, I just when I think about it then and like close it down, I can’t do it. You mind want to talk about it? No. How I didn’t have one of the I think I was three for three. For me, if I just kind of let it open, chill, it’s way easier. I just same result. Yep. Nope. Didn’t even get to it. Runs up the face. I didn’t want to go in the bunker. I like that shot better. It’s okay, Tim. You’re going to do great on this one. Don’t you dare compare yourself to Obama. Okay. Now you apparently is in the club. Why did you just turn into Joe? I don’t. He passed you. He started hitting it really well. He passed the baton. Yeah, there it is. Good ball. Oh, there it is. Little deep little draw. Come back. Nice. It’s the most spin I can do on it. Overall thoughts? Obviously. So, you preferred this the most? Honestly, I preferred the Opus SP. Um, the CB the CBZ was just the feel wasn’t as great. I mean, phenomenal wedge. I like again, I like the way that the grind is and everything. Not enough bounce for me on the M5. I love the feel and it hit it good. Just not enough bounce. Got it. Y still looks The CBZ is still looking for and I think it just throws me off a little bit. But I feel like for most they’re probably okay with that. Yeah, I hit the SM10s and probably not because of that. Yeah, absolutely. And I don’t think Joe liked any of these. You know what? Once I started, he liked your tip though. He liked the tip. If anything, I like the tip. Listen, I got to do it all over again because I just just I mean, really wanted to try out the ball gobbler. Just a different golfer after that. Thanks for watching.
