Fore the Ladies SA is bringing women together on the green with a fun golf tournament.
Rebecca Sanchez was inspired to create a space where women could enjoy golf without the usual male-dominated player base. Her goal was to build a welcoming, empowering event that celebrates women and the joy of the game. The tournament also supports the Children’s Bereavement Center, a local nonprofit that helps children navigate grief and loss. It’s a meaningful way to give back while enjoying a day of golf and connection.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a fun day out, this event is a great way to make new friends and enjoy a lighthearted tournament with the ladies.

Golf uh is no longer for the guys. That much you probably already know, hopefully. The sports has become very inclusive over the years. In fact, there is a women’s charity golf tournament this fall right here in San Antonio to benefit the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas. It’s being hosted by a nonprofit called For the Ladies SA Fo R. Uh the director is a good friend of ours and a former colleague, Rebecca Sanchez. Hi, how are you? Good friend. I’m doing good. By the way, I I did not know, we were just laughing off uh camera here. I didn’t know when you worked here for all those years that you were a golfer. I know you never invited me out to the course. First of all, I cannot play you. You would uh smoke probably most people that I know. Um what is for the ladies essay? What is that group? It’s a nonprofit that I just started over the summer since I left work. Um I’ve been a golfer for many, many years. I’ve been in several tournaments, but it’s male dominant. You know, there’s a lot of women out there who are too intimidated to join golf tournaments, whether they’ve been invited at work or different organizations. So, we thought, why don’t we create one just for the ladies because I know they’re out there and I know they want to golf together and just to create this community. So, we started it and it’s going to be fun. Is that the mission of the nonprofit? Yeah. So, the mission of the nonprofit, this beneficiary for this year is going to the Children’s Berement Center because we did lose a best friend. Um, his wife and two children have been going there and we know about this amazing spot. Hopefully, you never have to know about it, but if you do, it’s fantastic. Um, but we want to branch out to helping the vets. We want to branch out to helping different organizations. So, this is just a way to do it through golf tournaments, raising the money to give to different organizations. So, depending on how it unfolds year after year, we’ll see where it goes. How many do you hope to have? Uh, one per year, five per year. I’m hoping it is a lot since to organize something like this. Yes. So, I’ve helped with several with I’m on the board of different nonprofits now that I have time to. It’s so fun. Um, but this is the first time I’m doing it on my own. Well, I have a team of, so it is a lot of work. So, we’ll see if we can do it in the fall. Maybe we’ll branch out to the spring, but for now, we’re going to stick to one per year. I want to tap into this idea that there are most of these tournaments, and you’re right, 100% right. Um, they’re 90% male. Oh, yeah. Um, and as a woman, you go there, and that’s probably true for not just golf tournaments, right? A woman shows up at an event, she wants to have fun. She wants to do what uh everybody else is doing. there is a whether it’s a stigma or pressure or just something where it feels like wow this doesn’t feel right. What have you heard from uh your friends out there who say I am so excited that you’re doing this? That’s exactly it. They’re excited to have a fun safe space where it doesn’t matter your skill level cuz we have teams that have been playing forever. We have ladies I just met at a social golf club that have barely just started swinging a club. So, this is a fun space for them to not be it’s competitive because we are competitors, but they don’t have to feel pressure to help the guys win. You know, when I get invited, everyone wants to use my drive because I’m using the forward T, right? It makes sense. But after that, it’s like I’m sitting back with all the dudes and it’s it’s fun, but we thought we’ll make it fun, including women. Just different ways that we can we’re going to have some vendors out there, some fun stuff that ladies like to make it fun and casual. When and all that good stuff. It’ll be Thursday, November 13th at Silverhorn. Um, we’re going to do all the fun things. We’re looking for any sponsors, whether you want to sign your team up of ladies. I get asked all the time if guys can sponsor. Absolutely. You can sponsor out there. You can’t play. Not of this one. Maybe the next one. Yeah. Good. Yeah. Dudes, dude, stay at home. Just write a check. Send it in. Exactly. Um, also I saw real quickly, uh, so show up with your game and all that, but show up wearing blue. Yeah. So, uh, November is Children’s Grief Awareness Month, and so since we are working with the Briement Center this tournament, we are asking all the ladies out there to wear some form of blue just in solidarity for them. By the way, uh, if you see her on the course and you think, “Oh, I can challenge the old TV lady.” Uh, don’t. She’s a high school golfer. She plays all the time. If you follow her on social media, you know she is literally always on the link. I love it. Didn’t say I was that great at it, but I love it. All right, one last time for the website. Oh, it’s so long. just DM me. Yeah, it’s golf status is amazing. I know probably for the graphics it’s too long, but it’s right there. Super easy to do. If you have any questions, just find us on social. All right. Well, and you know, come back to TV sometime. Do that, too. Yeah. Oh, my challenge accepted. We uh this is an exciting deal. We’re excited for more information. Best of luck. Uh come back in the spring. Let us know when you have another. Absolutely. We will. Thanks, Bren.
