Tiger doesn’t stand up through the ball… and neither should you.
So, when you watch this video right here of Tiger, we need to focus on what his chest is doing. And when he starts his down swing, it’s two simple words, down and through. So, when he begins the down swing and he’s working down, you’re going to notice that his chest starts pointing down to the ground and then it works through the golf ball. That does two things to his swing. It gets him into this front bend, which is basically his pelvis flexing to get his chest down. And when we get into a front bend, our hips or our pelvis now have the freedom to start moving through, which would be his chest working through the ball.
Tiger doesn’t stand up through the ball… and neither should you.
His chest move keeps him down and through, creating pure, powerful contact every time.
I break it all down in my latest YouTube lesson — check it out!
Stop topping the golf ball with Tiger Woods’ simple chest movement pattern! This early extension fix reveals how Tiger stays down through impact by pointing his chest down to the ground, then rotating through the ball. Most golfers do the opposite—their chest goes up and stalls, forcing them to stop topping golf ball strikes by creating space. Learn how to stay down in golf swing with two simple words: “down and through.” When you master this chest-focused technique, you’ll achieve the front bend (pelvis flexion) that gives your hips freedom to rotate powerfully through impact.
