Whether it’s a casual match with your mates or a more competitive local game, getting ready properly is crucial to performing your best. Step one, practice with your match darts. At home, it’s fine to try a few different sets with any darts that you have lying around, but before a match, it’s important to get your actual match darts out and put them through their paces. Now, step two, pack your case properly. Step three, practice with the team. Step four, prepare for venue surprises. Now, I’ve had my fair share of surprises during pub matches. Some venues have things like the main door being near the dart board, and it’s easy to get distracted when someone bursts through the door yelling something like, “Yeah, bombs.” Step five, don’t forget the bullseye. Practicing on the bullseye is key, especially since many games start with a bullseye to throw. You hit the board.
