Cal Wins Stroke Play Competition With Strong Finish

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – The California women’s golf team had its best round of the season and finished atop the leaderboard of stroke play at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate on Tuesday.

The Golden Bears shot 5-under par as a team to complete stroke play at the same score after an even-par round on Monday. Cal finished 19 shots ahead of runner-up Princeton, which the Bears will face off against Wednesday in the match play championship round at the Old Course at St. Andrews.

It was Cal’s best round since carding a 7-under par in the final round of the Yale Invitational last March.

Sophomore Claudia Lara Miravitlles had her second consecutive round at 2-under par and finished stroke play at 4-under, which was good for fourth place overall.

Senior Adora Liu went 3-under on Tuesday and completed stroke play with the same score, one spot behind Miravitlles.

Junior Jasmine Kahler and freshman Michelle Wood tied for seventh at even-par for the tournament, giving the Bears four players in the individual top-10.

Wednesday’s match play championship round begins at 2:45 a.m. PT/10:45 a.m. BT.
