So, in this video, you guys are going to learn about how to grip the club. So, I’m going to be talking about each hand individually first, just so you guys can have an idea of what to look out for with each hand, because it’s very important that you guys not only pay attention to where you’re holding it within your palms, but also obviously how much you’ve turned your hands kind of to the side or on top of the handle, okay? because that’s going to affect how you maneuver the club throughout your back swing or throughout the swing in general and potentially how well you’re able to control uh opening or closing that club face. So, let’s get into it right now. Okay. So, when it comes to uh gripping the club, the first thing I kind of want to make sure that everyone does is when you set the club down behind the ball, okay, you first have to ensure that the club face is down your target line or or aiming at your intended target. You don’t want to grip the club with the club face pointing right or with the club face turned and pointing left because obviously that’s going to cause you to hit it in in whatever direction that you’ve you’ve pointed the face. So, the other thing to consider before you’re gripping it, you don’t want the shaft of the club to be leaning too far forward, kind of like this. Okay? Because then if you grip it here with the shaft so far ahead, if you were to bring the shaft back to neutral, you can you can see that the club face is very very shut when I’m holding it. Okay? And then reversely, if you have the shaft leaning backwards without realizing it, you grip the club, okay, and you think it’s correct, but when as soon as you lean that shaft forward, you can see the the blade is actually pointed open, you must ensure that at the start, the shaft is straight up and down with the club face aiming directly at your target. Okay? Only then are you ready to actually put your hands on it. Now, what’s important is you’ll also notice um you’ll see the a logo usually kind of on the front of every grip. Okay? So, you’d want that just pointing directly in front of you, right on top of the of the handle. Now, what you’re going to do from there is starting with the left hand. So, you want to look at your the knuckle or the base of your pinky finger, okay? Or the first joint of that pinky finger. And then also basically the second joint of your forefinger. Okay? So point here and point there. So you want that grip to be running right through those two points at the base of your fingers. You don’t want it gripped at your knuckles. Okay? More at the base of those fingers there. Once you have the club face set square, then you’re going to place the the handle or those those points underneath the handle, making sure the grip runs through those two points that I mentioned. Okay. Then you’re just gonna wrap that club around with your fingers. And then you want to get the palm of your lead hand, that meaty part part of that palm to get on top of the handle. So when you have your left hand on it, you should feel it gripped kind of in the base of your knuckles or sorry, not the base of your knuckles, base of your fingers. Okay? And you should realize that there’s this V that forms here. Okay? that V should be kind of pointing more or less to your trail shoulder and your thumb will visually look like it’s a little bit more on the side of the grip. Another another uh thing you might have heard of is when you look if you were to look down from my point of view to your left hand or your lead hand, you probably see about two knuckles or maybe two and a half of your lead knuckles on top. That’s another general way to kind of look or gauge if your left hand’s on it correct. Okay? But I really want you guys to pay attention and sure that your grip runs through those two major points that the first joint of the p of the pinky finger and then almost the second joint of the forefinger. Okay? Right through those two points. And then you’re just going to hook your fingers around and get that palm on top. All right? Just like this. All right. Next hand, my my trail hand. If you to look at my trail hand, if I were to just bring my thumbs close together like this, you’ll notice like a groove kind of form there kind of through the lifeline. Okay? Kind of like that. What I like to do is I I place that the thumb of my lead lead hand into that groove. It fits really nicely into that groove there. Okay. Now I’m going to also get my my or grip the club in my first joints of the fingers. Okay. Kind of right through there. The same points base of the pinky finger and then almost the second joint of the forefinger has to run feel like it runs through those two points. When that thumb fits in that groove, I’m getting my thumb to basically cover or get on top of my thumbs, my left thumb. And you can kind of see that there’s another V that forms here. You’d want that to typically point to your trail pec. Okay. Kind of right in there. Good. So once that thumb is fitting nicely in that in a groove of your right right hand, the thumb of your right hand is like very very much on top of that left thumb or the the lead thumb. Okay. Then it should look something like this. So now the how hard I’m gripping it is not very I’m not death gripping it, but I’m gripping it maybe, you know, a six or seven out of 10. Okay, that’s the pressure I feel. I’m gripping it hard enough to where I can kind of control the club, okay? But I’m not death gripping it to where I, you know, I can’t feel the weight of it. Once you’re there, the the next thing to look at is just the bottom of this or the the how to hook the hands together. Okay. So, you can see I’m doing a bit of an interlock grip where I get the lead forefinger between the pinky and the ring finger of my trail hand. Okay. Fits right in there. And I can see that’s inter interlock there. Okay. So, the other method is you can just make sure that it’s like 10 fingers on like this. It’s just pretty much the hands are right up against each other. Okay. And that’s there’s nothing wrong with that. Okay. That’s another way to do it. And then the other way is to just overlap. The other way is to get your right trail pinky finger right between the forefinger and uh the middle finger. You’re going to get that right on top. Okay. So there’s no interlocking. You can see it’s just placed right on top of it. Okay. Also a very popular way to do it. Okay. So those three ways are just ways that you can connect your hands together. Okay. But what I mentioned before of where to place it in your palms is vitally more important. Okay? Because where depending on where you’re holding it again, it’s going to control how you hinge that club up in the back swing or uh release the club potentially and how well you can control that club face uh through impact.

Great stuff on the basics JKM.. can you make a video on how to brake the lower half of the body so that the club can whip thru the swing during downswing?
Great video. That’s the best video I’ve seen on gripping the golf club 🙂⛳️
