Oh yeah. Testing, testing. One, two, three. We’re just doing a quick sound check because we are at the beautiful Hailing Island Golf Club. This is kind of a bit of a a revamp for Hailing Island. Hailing Island just around the corner from Portsmouth. You can see Portsmouth out in the distance there. Actually is a little island just off the edge there. You have to come over on a little bridge and you come to this amazing amazing Lynx Golf Course which hasn’t really been on my radar until recently because I haven’t really known much about it. But Hailing Island, beautiful golf course, dates back way back to the early 190 something. And uh we’re here today on a bit of a media trip day. I want to say a little break par, but I think it’s more of like a break 80 today based on this wind. And let’s get out there and see how we get on. Okay, rare opening hole par three 179 to that flag into out the left straight off the beach. I’m going to get a four iron. You don’t want to go long. Right, I found a swing on the practice ground. See if that’s going to work for us. Straight out the out the blocks. Don’t hit it too much wind. Go on. Get forward. Push forward. Okay, I think we’re dancing ish. Well, if you just turn around here, have a little look kind of art deco clubhouse. About 140 years old, this uh this site for the golf course. 18 holes here. And then there’s a little nine-hole course just over the back, which is I think the original nine holes. Oh, lovely park. So, we’re playing team event today. So, I’ve got my partners with me, but I’m going to have a little individual on the go as well. Can’t mic everybody out because it’s such a busy day. So, uh, you’re just going to follow me around into wind. Probably should have had a putt before I teed off. I’ll have a quick go. Keep going. Keep going. Oh, there’s a lot of wind there. Right. Don’t see a lot in this to be honest. Not a lot in it. Just more wind if anything. Wow. Oh dear. That was a bit disgusting, wasn’t it? Hole 19. Saying we got about 500 yds as par five. Second hole. Straight into now. Kind of small dog leg round from left to right. That’ll do us. Yeah, nice to have a fade back to be honest. Up the left. Little drift. And we’re off. Core. A decent drive there. Left a 263 into the breeze. Never get there with this, am I? And wind straight into out the left. More like what we had off the first te. Oh, get down. Come down. Don’t know. It’s that little double cross you see go into uh trying to hit a little fade and you pull it slightly and then it’s just seems to go on the wind, you know. Anyway, hopefully we’ll find it. Oh dear. I’ve come up the garden path here, haven’t I? Wow. I got lucky here cuz really I should, you know, on a calmer day I’m I’m gone, aren’t I? But then I’m probably not aiming this far left on a calmer day. All right, hole 19 telling me I’ve got 92 yards to the front of that green or middle of that green, but on the angle on the angle it’s 92 yards. Bang on. This wind direction is just straight out the left now. So hopefully shouldn’t be affected too much. Little 56 degree. This is all you got when the grass is laying massively. See how long this grass is? When that lays kind of against you, you need to make sure you kind of almost nip it. So, make sure you really catch the ball first because uh you’ll just catch it. It will just it will grab you. It’ll be bit bit too heavy. Hopefully the wind doesn’t kick it right too much. Okay, I’m putting. I’m more than happy with that. More than happy with that. Key to today is not to three putt too much because you’re just going to hemorrhage shots. So many shots with three putts on tough days like today. Go. So hard. Yeah. Oh, an adventurous par, but it’s a par. Subtle dog leg round from left to right. Third hole. Howling wind out the left. You kind of want to take off a bit a little bit today cuz it’s the wind’s helping a fraction if you get it riding on the wind. It’s only 400 402 yards. I don’t think that red mark is a bad line. Maybe move it off of it slightly. Steady on the wind. It’s a bit tigery, but I think it’ll be all right. I think it’ll play. Wow. I didn’t expect to come down here and see myself as far right as we are. Really in the middle of the the gorsy area here. Oh, I found a bull. Found two balls of which I’ve only I’ve looked in my bag and found I found two golf uh four golf balls today. I think the kids have been in my bag. So that’s a Prov. That’s a Callaway. Might need them later. 132 yards. Old 19 telling me here. First port is going to go into the wind and then it’s going to ride the wind on the way back to the flag hopefully. It’s the one. Don’t sail too much. Come down on there. Come down. Nice shot. Okay. See if we can get a birdie, should we? Hard to really judge these greens at the moment cuz they’re quite you don’t want them too too short around here because the slopes and the wind. So, I’m just going to play this as straight with the wind. We got one. We got one. 404 then par four. I had three. Actually have five wood out. I got three wood out. Now I’ve got driver out cuz I feel like the wind I thought the wind was helping but it’s actually kind of hurting a little bit off the tear. Wind out the right. Kind of want it at that trap on the right and move it back. Come down on that line. I’ve cut it so badly that it’s probably all right. Lucky. So hard to get your clubbing at the moment cuz if you get one turning over, it’s going to fly further. Wind’s out of the right. I’m just going to I’m going to literally go with the with the number. So, I’m going to go with five iron and see what what kind of happens really. Ball above my feet slightly. Don’t turn over. Come down. Oh, come down. Long and left. Just got to be so careful with shots around here. You get it riding on the wind too much. It’s got to be a 30 40 mph wind today. get it wrong and you get yourself into trouble. How have I actually got there is the question. A little bit of hit and hope going on here. I’m actually really lucky, aren’t I? Because further left I’m in the bunda. Just want a little bit of a stab on this into the breeze. [Music] They are painful. [Music] Oh, great job. Get right. Little bit of hidden hope there. Fingers crossed and stuff. A chance for a par on a tough hole really today. Keep the pace up. Got to keep the pace up. So much swing. Right. 155. Playing partners have hit nine irons in there. Not got that. I’m gonna go I just I can’t see myself hitting a nine and getting there. So, I’m going to go with a smooth eight up the left and bring it in. Oh, no. Miss it. Miss it. Wind. Oh, hell of a kick. Sit down. That was a terrible bounce, wasn’t it? Oh, just got to trust it up the left more. Oh my goodness. This is unbelievably tough. This green is about that wide. I thought there was more green over to the left hand side, but it is literally a slither. It’s like a divot. And uh so I’m not feeling that bad that I’ve missed it now. Okay, decision made. I got a little pitching wedge. I’m going to try and just push it into the slope and let it bounce forward and up if we can. Bit of green behind that flag [Music] there. First bounce has killed it. Oh my god, that is a tough tough hole. Okay, a little bit disappointed there. I’m going to go 60 now. More aerial. Get it up there. A little bit of spin into the breeze. P for a bogey. Ah, that was just terrible. Shocking. That was like I’ve got a rule that I always play to, especially when I’m playing a lot more golf, is I never ever try and make a well I’m always trying to get away from the hole. So here, never ever leave yourself in a shortsided position here. Get yourself behind the pin. Play for your bogey. I’ve tried to bite off a little bit too much there, which has caused the double. Unfortunately, I should have just taken double out of the equation by throwing it past the pin, but loads of back stop behind that green or behind that pin there. Take your bogey and run away. A poor decision after a poor T-shot. That’s what that was. 430 the stroke one. It’s kind of one of those holes where you don’t want to hit driver, but I feel like you’ve got to hit driver down there. It’s uh wind out the left, bunkers down the right, trouble down the left. That’ll do, mate. Go and chase down the Still running. Right. Wind heavily out the left hand side. Really happy with the drive. Really happy with the drive. 154 into this hole. I don’t think that wind is really again. It’s not helping, but it’s going to be hurting me as I hit into it. And then I’m going to bring it back on the wind. I’m going to play the number 155. I’m going to go with eight iron. Stay there, wind. Stay there. Yeah. Stop. Stop. Stop. Okay. Just short pin eye. That’s pretty good, I would say, yardage wise. All right. Happy with that pin high. Massively uphill putt. Slightly into wind. Again, I’ve been struggling to judge these. So, just need to get one up close and get some confidence in my putting a little bit if we can. It’s not easy today. Gusting a little bit as well now. [Music] Just did not go that way, did it? Did not go that way at all. Okay. We’ll take the par and run away on that hole. Kind of see this as a straightaway. Par five. 500 yds into the straight into the breeze. Maybe a little out the straight into I think. Not seeing a great deal down there other than bunkers at the moment. Hopefully it’s not long enough to get anywhere near bunkers. I don’t think it is today. Yeah, I think that’s good. That’ll do us. Right. Hole 19. 260 we’ve got. I don’t know why I’ve pulled three without, but I think it’s the right play cuz there’s just nothing up there really other than a bunker right next to the green, which I’m not getting to today. Wind into out the right. Go on. Up you go. Keep going. I think it’ll be all right. It’s on line with the flag and the green. Chase it up. Okay. Great lie. Just got to get it up on that middle shelf there and then let it kind of release up. Sit down. Sit down. Sit. Sit. Sit. Let’s play that with a little pitching wedge to keep it just keep it out the wind, you know, keep the spin up. Take it out the wind and throw it a little bit further up there. Birdie chance. Just probably playing for more of the wind than anything else here to be honest. Thank you. First real glimpse of the sea here. I think I mean it’s choppy. I’ve just literally come back from France on a ferry and it was like this windy blowing. Boat was rolling. Luckily I was asleep. Isa White I think is out there which is actually only a um just a little ferry ride across from Portsmouth. takes you all the way through to uh to the aisle of white and there’s some great golf courses out there. We’ve done a lot of the aisle of white. Be nice to get back there one time actually golf society link in the description. You can go to the aisle of white for pretty good deal um through the society. So check it out. Okay, we’re going to go with trusty play on the wind a little bit out the left. That’ll do. Yeah, beautiful shot. Yeah, that’s good. That will do, I think. Thank you. 112 yards left in here. I was just saying there’s a bunker just behind this camera here now, which is playing at like 210. My three iron would have landed 205 to 210. So, five would just gets past it, which is perfect. You got to think about these sorts of things when you’re trying to position yourself off the tea. I’ve probably got a perfect 50°ree wedge, but I’m going to try and thump a 56 112. Get it riding from that that kind of telegraph pole in the background there and let it drop down towards the flag is the ideal line. If it spins on there, it should be about right. I would think maybe a fraction long. No, we’re happy with it. Well, I did say it was a little bit long. We’re about 12 feet, 15 feet. So, not bad. Kind of sheltered here. There’s a little June to our right. So, that’s going to hold that wind off this part, which is good. Which means we can focus on the reed, which is looks pretty straight down that hill. That was coming in a bit there. We’re in. We’re in. Nice hole. 408 to that flag. Little dog leg round from right to left. Tricky one cuz you don’t want to bail on the wind too much to the right. And you’ve got to trust I think down the left. It’s a little bit blind off this tea, so you’re not seeing a lot. Probably a little bit easier to see up the top there, but I’m going to go down the left and hopefully let the wind drift back from there. That looks great. Go on. Up you go. It’s a little left cuz I didn’t quite strike it, but we’ll see. Hole 19. 133 to the uh middle of the green, which is basically where that flag is. Again, on this angle, it is hurting slightly. So, 133 would normally be between a pitcher wedge and a 9 iron. So, I’m going to go with nine [Music] just because there’s a little bit of hurt in the air there. Flag over these bushes a little bit. Ball above my feet a fraction. I’m going to grip down on it a little bit. It’s knuckled out of there. Sit down. It kicked right. So, I’m hoping we’ve got the right club. It kind of flew out of that sort of heathery lie. Oh, yeah. It’s just through the back. Right. A little long. Difficult to say whether the actual flyer got it or it caught that ridge on the left there and kicked it forward. my gut feeling it was a a little bit of a combo, but I just didn’t fancy thumping a wedge at it, you know? So, it’s one of those anywhere on the green’s pretty good today, to be honest with you. Hit it, wind. Hit it, wind. I kind of went that way at the end. Didn’t see that. He’s in. take the power and run away. Right, first impressions because obviously we’ve been invited here today for a media day. Um kind of re-release of Hailing Island. Again, I haven’t heard of Hailing Island as in like a popular course that I would want to let’s say come and play over the years. However, this is the only Lynx course in the south of England running from Rye. So you got Little Stone and Ry Golf Club up up the up the Kent coast and then the next links course from here is kind of where you got Littleton a little bit further up and then further down you’ve then got we come down into Devon which is Dorish Warren Golf Club. So a fantastic layout of golf holes. Um, got to say kind of reminds me a little bit of Robert the Bruce course over next to Turnbury or one of the other courses at Turbury. And uh, I’m looking forward to the next few holes cuz we’re working into some kind of watery areas, but the views spectacular as you can imagine. Lynx Golf Course, so it gets windy, but the views around here pretty special. 10th hole, Pan Panco Chai, it’s the name of this hole. It’s only a little one. It’s only 262 off this back tea. So I want to say normally it’s reachable but today’s breeze it’s a little bit into so I’m not feeling that we’re going to get there. However want snake with a little draw down the right hand side which I haven’t done for a little while would be the ideal shape. I’ve just cut it up into it. Turn over ball. Come on round. It’s trying. It’s kicking left. Yeah. Just short the green. That’s okay. Right. Little nine iron. I’m trying to land it kind of on the down slope here and let it let it kind of chase forward and then release up the slope. Come on then. Round you come. Come on round. I thought it would really move more than that, but that’s not bad. We’ll take it. Let it fall in that front left door. Be ideal. Stay. Stay. Stay. Yay! Birdie. Okay. 155 52 to this flag today. This is a tough par three. It’s probably playing closer to 180. I’ve got my 185. I’ve got my four iron in my hand, which I’m not going to lie, it does feel like a lot of bat, but I think there’s a lot of wind gusting into here. Just Come on. Let’s find the dance floor. H. Hold on, hold on, hold on. God, that moved. She even missed the trap on the left there. That could be in a little bit of little bit of bother. Tough hole. Absolutely immaculate. Look at the Look at the runoffs around this green breakage. Subtle break, subtle movement. Got very lucky with this four iron. Got it past pin high. It’s pitched here. Look, there’s the pitch mark. Stopped dead. Now, I’ve got a putter in my hand. Okay. Bit of double braking going on here, isn’t there? The problem is you whack them. Yeah. They don’t move. So hard. So hard with the short ones. I always think back to what my brother said to me. He says, “You got to calm down.” I get a bit agitated when I make silly mistakes, you know. Anyway, 12th hole, pour 462. 462. The desert. I’m assuming it’s cuz there’s a beach somewhere. That way. Come on, DH. [Music] That’ll do us. And hopefully some run. What a golf hole this is. This is 195 yds left of it. Great drive down there. Loads of run. But look at it kind of funnel in, funnel down. This is the best hole on the course so far. 12th hole. Very impressive. 195. Slightly downwind. I’m not a great lie cuz I’m in a bit of the thicker stuff, but it should run once I get it going. Disappointingly, ball above my feet here. Not an easy lie, but it does mean that the ball should go up in the air, which should get it get it going forward on the wind. I’ve not struck it, so it’s going to come up probably quite a way short. We might get a little bit of ground help there. Oh, I thought that UPS ups slope right by the flat up by the green was a really steep ups slope. I thought it was just going to kill it, but it just managed to chase it on. We we’ve got putter in hand. Tricky part this now coming off the bank here off the left hand side. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that I’m here, but it’s definitely swinging out of this left side. Wind out the left as well. So, I’ll take that into into thought. Get over the hill and then let it run down to the flag. There’s the slope there. Now get down there. Thank you. Yeah. Oh, I’ll take that. Felt like a par five today. That happy days. What a spot. We’re right on the tip of the golf course now. I would say you can see in the distance there I think I don’t know what they call it the sail maybe that’s uh on the port down by the port of um of Portsmouth and that’s uh just behind that is where the uh where the the feries would be going out across to France or maybe Santandere depending on where we’re going I think Bill Bill Bower is it big Bower down in Spain as Well, yeah. What a spot. This is 344, but this is actually straight down. Maybe wind out the left a little bit. If that’s the line, that should run. That’s the one. That should run. Bit of pot luck down there, I’m afraid. Right. Not the ideal line if I’m honest with you. I’ve gone a bit right of where we need to be. If you want to get it, you can get it on the green here. Definitely, you can run it down the left hand side and it’ll funnel all the way down to the green. But we are left with 95 y into this flag, which I just think is a perfect 60° wedge. Keep it just slightly left of the flag and then let it let it kind of work in from there. Got to get up maybe. Just short. Didn’t quite get the contact off that lie, to be honest. Ah, that’s slightly disappointing. Well, I’ve tried running them up these banks, but they’re a bit sticky, so I’m going to have to go more 60ish. Try and throw it just on the green and then hopefully it’ll release out from there. See it release. Go on. Down you go. Down you go. Okay, not bad. Oh, little confidence booster if this one pops in. Yeah, it just doesn’t move, does it? You think it’s got to move on that wind? Oh, little bogey there. Poor five. Here we go. Grip it and rip it. 536, but I feel like we’re turning into the breeze a bit up the right and let the wind bring it back. Come on down you go. Get down there. That’s what we want. Bit of slinging. Okay. Bit of plotting going on here now. 278 to that middle of that green. There’s a bunker down there which is around two about 180. So I need to put something down there. That’s going to leave me just short that bunker leaving me about 110 in. So about 176 175 wind out the right. Going to knock a five iron down there at that golf ball hopefully and then give myself the right angle into the flag. That should be about right. Gone a bit far on that wind. Took a hell of a hop. Might have gone a bit closer than I was hoping, but I think we got lucky. Just uh wandering up to have a little look. Didn’t really get that right, did I? With that bunker. You just got to think about your numbers and then think about the ground run as well. That’s what I’ve not done there. 84 yards. Let’s see if I can get this this lob wedge dialed in this time. Slightly helping. Just a nice strike with this. I should spin on it. Spin. Hopefully not too far. A little long, but it’s all right. Right. Just gone past the flag. Landing on a down slope. So, it’s going to run down here straight back up the hill. A little bit out the right hand side. Feed it in. Oh, I’ve just battered it. Putting is just shocking at the moment. Absolutely shocking. Too many. Too many. Angry now. Angry now. Right. 4 424 coming in. 15th hole. So bad. Get down. It’s bouncing. Probably got about 180 yards, but it’s bouncing. Houston, we have a problem. 187. But I cannot believe someone else has been here before me. I’m in their divot. Right. With that in mind, it’s going to come out punchy, punchy, punchy. So, I’m going to go with a sixiron. Actually, I’m going to deloft it slightly. I’m hoping it might just quieten down the shape a little bit coming out of here. I got the shape. Oh, grab a seat. Grab a seat. Grab a seat. Get lucky. That’s it. It’s come out so hot. Oh, I thought that might feed back down there. Okay, chip and a putt required again. Well, I just think one more roll down here and it was feeding back down towards that green. It’s not actually that bad. I think you could like I feel like I want to putt that off that lie even though it’s a little bit snaggy, but it’s one of those shots that you kind of just want to get it running to the hill and then it’ll gravity will take care of the rest from there. I think bounce left. Go on down. Get down there. Right. Come on, DH. Let’s not miss every putt out here today. Let’s get one of them at least. Got one. I got one. 174 yards. The 16th hole here. Beautiful par three. Par 3 have been really challenging around this golf course. Um, wind. Straight out the left again. Straight out the left. Come on, wind. Hit it. Hit it hard. Yeah, I think that’s the right club. I bet it’s six as well. I think that was perfect. Unlucky because the wind it just it just didn’t hit it, did it? Amazing green complex this. I mean, you do not want to even look at the flag. It’s one of these flags where you are there’s a bunker right next to it, but anything just just short and to the right is all going to feed back into that flag uh to that bunker. Great shot in. Um but up up the left hand side, it all feeds back down towards the center degree into the perfect spot really. I would say this is like a straight putt, but I think with the wind just might want to buffer it a little bit off the right. It’s got to come that way. Got to come that way. Wow. Take my par on the That’s my I think that’s my first par on the part three, I think, today. Well done, mate. 17th hole. It’s called the sailor’s grave, which means there’s water all the way down the left hand side there. Such a solid finishing stretch, isn’t it? 452, par 4. Just falling off it a little bit. Go on. Down you go. It’s pretty straight and running. That’ll do us. 200 y in. That wind just feels like it wants to help me a little bit. I’m going to play it on the number. I’m going to play a four iron. And uh just thinking the one I played down there, didn’t I? I had 186 in out of a divot. I hit I hit a seven iron. Uh six iron and that was just past pin high. 186 out of a divot. Just going to jump a little bit on me. I think it’s I still think it’s four iron. It’s going left as well. Sit down. So much movement. It’s a big old slog in, isn’t it? Big old slog. A. So I’ve I’ve kind of gone a bit too far here. A sensible play. Again, this is feels a bit weak, but I just want to avoid this trap really in front of me. Play out to the right a little bit. Allow for a little bit of spin past the flag. Just just feels feels very rusty, should we say? But when you haven’t played golf in about 3 weeks, you’re going to get a bit of rust on your game, aren’t you? However, it’s pretty tough out here as well. There’s a subtle bit of movement on this out the right, but there’s a little little shelf about halfway along. Not 100% sure what it’s going to do off there. Steady. Christ struggled. [Music] Oh, it’s another bogey. Tough hole. Right, we’ve made it. Finally made it. I would say unscathed slightly based on the scoring where we are. But then again, think about it how windy it’s been today. On the starters hut in the distance is the kind of ideal line and then let it kind of ride on the wind from there. Come on, wind. Hit it. Hit it hard. Hit it hard. Kick it forward. Keep running. Keep moving. Yeah, not bad. Best to last. Hole 19. Giving me 98 yards to that flag, which is just short of middle. Wind down and out the right. I don’t really want this one hopping too far, so I’m going to go 60. We just want a decent finishing shot. Spin on that then. Spin on that. Yeah, there’s a chance, Joe. We got a chance, mate. Just popping my name on the nearest the pin in two. the Hendrickson. Last time I won one of these, I won longest drive for the women. Let’s see if I can actually win this one. Right, come on then. Finish strong, DH. Finish strong. Don’t go right. Don’t go right. Ah. Okay, not me. Loved it. Thank you. Really enjoying that. Thank you very much. Great to meet you. Well, we’ve knocked the rust off the game. Five over par. I don’t think it’s actually that bad considering I’ve never seen the golf course. It’s blowing three club four club wind out here today and haven’t played in a few weeks as I’ve already said. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Hailing Island Golf Club. It is an absolute hidden gem of a golf course in the south of England. uh to find a links course down on this coast is fantastic and I think they’ve got an amazing product out here. So come and check it out for yourself. Link link in the description of the video. You can go check it out for yourselves. Come and visit it. Thank you very much. See you again on the next video.
