DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central men’s golf team makes its final appearance of the fall season on Wednesday, Oct. 15, against archrival North Carolina A&T in the Eagle-Aggie Challenge in Greensboro, N.C. The match play event starts at 10:30 a.m. on the Greensboro Country Club Carlson Farm Course.
CHALLENGE FEATURES TOP GOLFERS AT SAS HBCU INVITATIONAL
Jamal Hutchison of NCCU and Emilio Hernandez of A&T were impressive at the SAS Championship HBCU Invitational in Cary, N.C., this past weekend. Hernandez was the individual winner and Hutchison was the runner-up in the Division I flight. They were the only golfers to score under par with Hernandez firing a five-under 205 and Hutchison carding a two-under 208. Both golfers are scheduled to face each other in match play on Wednesday.
Pedro Pereira of A&T and Mateo Zolezzi of NCCU rounded out the top four in the SAS tournament.

HUTCHISON SETS SCHOOL MARK
Hutchison posted the lowest score in a 54-hole match by a NCCU golfer at the SAS Championship HBCU Invitational over the weekend. He shot a 208 to break the school record by three strokes. The previous record of 211 was shared by Zane Lewis (2015-16) and Chris Winters (2008-09).
NCCU LEGEND DIRECTS A&T GOLF PROGRAM
Eagles’ Head Coach Kendall Wallace played golf at North Carolina Central under Mesha Levister, the A&T Director of Golf, from 2020 to 2022. Levister is a golf legend at NCCU, winning CIAA Men’s Golf Rookie of the Year (2001) and NCCU Team MVP honors as the only female on the men’s team.
Levister received her bachelor’s degree in behavioral and social science from NCCU before returning to her alma mater to help establish the women’s golf program in 2020. She was an assistant coach at her alma mater, coaching both men’s and women’s teams for two seasons.
