welcome back to the channel guys today I’m joined by scratch golfer Ben Campbell as we take on the 2025 Ryder Cup course Bethpage Black right here in the simulator in today’s video we are going to relive all the drama from the Ryder Cup we are going to analyze all the key moments and we will give our honest take on how the whole event unfolded and at the same time play some pretty good golf the match between me and Ben went right down to the wire so grab yourself a coffee if you got some popcorn hanging around that’d be great too and sit back relax and watch how this whole video unfolds let’s get into it but yeah simply we’re just gonna play 18 holes talk about the Ryder Cup play the Ryder Cup and hopefully Europe prevail in this match as well as I’m blue and you’re red but I can’t believe they were hitting this drive so far yeah 386 yards and that’s off the that’s not even like the back tees of set up on you so it’s I’m just I’ve you could probably go a bit further right but the fact that Bryson and all them lot were getting so close to that first green is a joke but anyway play well play well son play well mate it’s a little bit right in it oh that’s dead no it’s America in it it’s America I don’t know if they’ve cut the rough short on this simulator course as well but slap bang behind that tree yeah not ideal hundred and three mile an hour up to speed there you go thanks sir what did you think of the rider cap watching it at home obviously I was there luckily but uh well the first two days were a lot easier than the last day if I’m being honest yeah like um it was tense yeah really tense it was it was tense we were in like some hospitality thing and it was like getting rowdy yeah but oh oh duck hook hahaha and the heavy stuff 2:01 2:01 did it live up to the hype you think cause that they were like so the full play part all these types of people they were saying that this was gonna be like the biggest rider cup ever yeah I don’t know like I think I think it would have been better if if the Americans had bigger names I don’t know if it was more like I just felt a bit disappointed watching Harris English yeah OK yeah uh Ben Griffin like no disrespect to them yeah but you wanna see DJ Brooks yeah you know what I mean the big names and I know they’ve dropped off in terms of um what we’ve been doing recently but you just still think that that’s what you wanna see the big clashes yeah yeah it would have been if like Liv hadn’t come along yeah I wonder it obviously they’d they’d all still been on tour and yeah maybe not lost a bit of form yeah I wonder how big this Ryder Cup would have been yeah with them in it no definitely yeah yeah it’s a good point actually I think the way the first two days sort of ended up being such a I don’t know it was a battering when it like it was a battering we were absolutely battering them and that’s what it’s it’s that whole um what Harry’s English and more Cowell were getting we’re absolutely destroyed yeah yeah yeah um it just wasn’t even a contest yeah there was a lot of um who is it is it Golf Digest or someone would did like a load of stats and it said that those two were worst yeah the worst pairing and they went out a couple of times didn’t they twice yeah I think like you just I don’t know if it’s like a stubbornness yeah yeah to be like you got battered yesterday don’t get battered today I have a yeah pride but ultimately what can you do when you you’re up against a drug or not yeah no that’s true and they were they were flying when they first couple days this is an awful spot ha ha ha ha ha um I don’t even know how far I got get up get up at least I’m not behind a tree now yeah it’s not ideal still me what was it like being there in terms of been able to see everything cause obviously there’s only um what four games happening yeah so first day we were on we’re in the grandstand on the first and 18th which is unbelievable yeah and we made and basically there there was free booze there free food there all day so we were like we’re just gonna stay here yeah because the commentary was playing on the big on the big TV there as well ah OK and the jet lag is absolutely battered us I was like that that picture that um flush it golf ball yeah yeah like that makes us look like we’re hammered and we’ve just passed out that’s not naked we’re just tired yeah like even cause your eyes were still open you still looked conscious yeah he’d been tipping for two and a half hours I’d like laid down and stretched and then popped and then I was like that’s annoying but um yeah I mean it was such a long like trip over yeah 28 yards out the rough please go oh he’s played it perfectly oh that’s right stay there it’s lovely that opening par that’s an opening par yeah um so in the grandstand on the first day was unbelievable like the the atmosphere Trump turning up in the afternoon like did you see the plane coming in yeah saw the plane I tried to get a picture I tried to get a video of it going over tried to get a lot of footage while we were there but every time I went to get my phone out they were just like saying stupid stuff in the background so I couldn’t film anything but unusable yeah unusable stuff go yeah nice sit sit sit but um I should have done this match play actually that would have been a bit more interesting in it oh yeah it’s a stroke play yeah I’ve done it stroke play oh well sorry we’ll just go all square it’s fine yeah so were they as bad as as it was being touted what do you mean now sorry the fans was it as yeah personal and we I didn’t hear a lot so on the first day I didn’t we weren’t out on course to talk so didn’t hear a bean of it right but um like where were we so on Saturday we were out on the course yeah and yeah you could we we like Shane a lot right so we were following Shane quite a bit and like there was some people saying some crap stuff there like just point I feel like it got worse because they were getting battered I think so as well I think like they were trying to treat themselves as kind of like a 1/13 player yeah I think it started to work especially against Rory like they looked absolutely exhausted second day um cause that’s why I think the singles went so badly on the Sunday yeah cause they all just looked absolutely exhausted yeah exactly oh that’s bad top tip yeah oh that is that’s horrendous we’re playing bad already I mean I got two open cards thank you sir two cards I’m gonna go uh don’t need too much club I we were a little bit worried about like the organization of the event when we were first getting there but so the queues on the Friday were nuts yep and so we got we were staying in Manhattan so we had a train so we had a bus to the train station train station train to the Farmingdale yeah and then yeah cause it’s about an hour away from Manhattan it took us right so getting picked up at the hotel first day took us three and a half hours to get there quirky yeah oh don’t say much you think you gonna get away with that get away with that I think it was only about 50 miles as well right so probably less than that actually but it’s um it was eye opening and like so the queues getting in were bad and people started getting off the bus yeah we were like alright we’ll just get off the bus as well and like cause we had first you know t grandstand tickets yeah yeah yeah we just wanted to get there so that guaranteed guaranteed space in there space yeah so not guarantee we didn’t have seats yeah but we were guaranteed space and you know when we got in there we were right at the back but you know we missed the first two tee times but like I say three and a/2 hours to get in from Manhattan was nuts I’ve heard a similar story from Peter Finch on his podcast the other day alright OK yeah saying like oh we’ll set off at what 5:00am yeah yep we think it’s gonna be like you know that’ll be perfect we’ll be able to get in grab a coffee no yada yada and then all of a sudden it’s you’ve missed the first two t times yeah it was bad but I so we got off the bus and we didn’t go into the main entrance right we just followed the crowd a bit sheepish and we just like end up going through this back entrance we still had like it was still official but yeah it was it went from like a I don’t know a three lane road wide people I’ll put some footage up when um but like it narrowed down into like a three person a metal detector so like getting through there was just a joke that’s a great shot sit sit yeah nice and soft just like at the just like on the course but um yeah so that we were gutted with that but then we like we followed the um instructions so to speak on the next day and yeah we were we got in absolutely fine oh I don’t have to wait here can I go eight I did seven did you yeah yeah cause it’s 11 yards up yeah but I should be giving you any tips but yeah fair enough I will go 752 yards up the hill 11 yards up the hill out the rough sound alright I need to stiff this to uh not lose this all yeah it’s not a bad shot it’s online that is dead online oh hahaha what a shot go in that is unbelievable what 1/2 that is what a half hahaha um still you still me sit down um what one thing I think as well like looking watching it on the telly yeah is that what I don’t think you get an appreciation for 1 elevation change yeah and 2 green contouring cause there’s a few times where you think someone’s at a bad shot yeah and you just see the ball trundling I feel like um I don’t know how people would do it but do you know like on PGA yeah 2K where you have a contours of yeah yeah yeah just something like that to be like so on the coverage they not like talk about the green complexes match or anything no not really not like when the actual matches were going on yeah so I think you know during the three days and the the matches that were being played you got more aware of the ridges in the and that but on the first day you were like oh he’s whiffed it and then all of a sudden it spins comes down the hill yeah to 3 foot and you but you don’t have an appreciation that there’s a backstop there yeah that’s quite interesting it’s so we just played the second hole there we watched the second hole on the Saturday morning when we’re out on the course and it’s quite interesting how the first group pitched it pin high zipped it off the front and then pitched it pin high zipped off and all four groups did exactly the same thing and the only way you could hit close to that flag was if you’re in like the first cut or something and you didn’t have a lot of spin and but no one was learning off each other it was mental yeah yeah and there’s no no messages being passed between yeah I didn’t get it captains and no yeah so Michael Jordan that was all yeah big boy but he’s huge but one thing I didn’t understand this is about the crowds right is that so they were so premature with their the Americans are so premature with their like descent so to speak so like they’d hit we’d hit a shot into that hole too yeah and it would zip off the front yeah right and it just get caught up just on the fringe oh and then they’d hit enough they’d be like whoa like screaming like that they’d hit their shot and it zip it and it’d be outside the Europeans and all weekend yeah they just did like there’s a couple of times mate the one with um there was I think Ben Griffin I think I saw him make two putts all week yeah both of them he celebrated like he’d won the Masters OK yeah and each time Europe was to go after and we both made it yeah so like what are you doing yes let’s just have a let’s just have a bit of a bit if you if you’re doing it to win the hole I get it different yeah but making a 60 footer and then watching Justin Rose make a 40 footer yeah just must just deflate you yeah must absolutely deflate you yeah right under 55 yards 8 iron oh it’s left cut cut it’s cutting it is cutting it is cutting oh sit it’s actually class sit stay there oh good shot mate good part yeah well too much club there too much club I’m gonna learn from that yeah have a look in his bag see what you got ha ha ha but I JJ spawn at big bounce oh here he is wonder shot I don’t mind losing the birdies we’re alright there got it off the putt oh it’s you now Christ yeah get away ha ha ha ha ha uh four what do you think of the course set up do you think they messed up oh big time yeah big time they turned it into a putting contest essentially and we’re better putters yeah yeah yeah it’s we it used to be that when the Europeans didn’t play as much on the PJ Tour yeah the Americans could speed the greens up and kill those on the green yeah yeah you can’t do that anymore no every single one of them plays on PJ greens or we play at live or we play even DP World now you’ve got class greens running at 12 so yeah I don’t think that’s a factor anymore I think if you these boys are so good yeah yeah everywhere if you just gonna blast it and wedge it we can match you for that yeah yeah I don’t think there’s really a course setup that suits the Americans over the Europeans I think honestly we’re just a better outfit outfit yeah interesting I think um I mean the whole reason I think they cut down the rough was so that you know like Bryson’s and people yeah all this distance that they had was an advantage but yeah like Rasmus he’s long Rory’s long Albert’s long Albert’s long like like Justin Rose sneaky long yeah yeah they’re not short hitters I don’t know the only not it wasn’t a big enough difference no it’s not like the only player is that is far bigger is Bryson yeah yeah yeah yeah but you can’t you can’t build an entire course of one person no no no and also is wedges a suspect yeah they are all all season so flushed yeah yeah nice get over yeah you sound easy Curry I’m gonna go over there how far is that gone out should have put total distance on here alright 3 Wonga for me one 50 ball speed with a 5 wood Jesus yeah I think um I think Justin Thomas made a good point as well about um what’s Keegan supposed to do if if you’re just not making putts I mean not hitting the shots yeah well you can’t expect I think I’ve seen a few highlights of Scotty Sheffler I don’t I don’t didn’t see him make a putt yeah yeah and every time he did make a putt so did John ROM or so did whoever and it wasn’t until he was playing Rory on Sunday excuse me where everyone’s knackered yeah yeah and Rory’s knackered that he and and he was winning he won a hole of the bogey yeah against the double like and that’s the only hole he that he won at the end and then they just half all the way in yeah yeah so what it’s not like he’s he’s won it if you know what I mean yeah yeah he should have battered Rory really cause the way yeah but I I what was interesting about watching it in person um I found this I’ve been to a couple now is that you don’t really understand what’s going on school ways you know that there’s a put for a win yeah you know that someone might be struggling on a whole whatever but like that whole thing was it Saturday or Sunday can’t remember Scotty and Bryson played together against Shane and Rory yeah I think and Shane Warrick won 2 and 1 but they were like 11 under through 16 holes compared to 9 under for Bryson and Scotty and I mean that’s incredible goal is that was that Friday Saturday I can’t remember I can’t remember cause I know uh cause Bryson play Bryson and Scotty play Tommy and rose oh my God hmm yeah OK I’m not sure Justin Rogers is about 8 under on his own ball ha ha ha ha it’s nuts and it’s just yeah an absolute warrior he’s classy yeah I think that’s gotta go yeah hmm go go get on that Peninsula oh God I don’t know if I’d rather that in the bloody ha ha ha ha I think I’m a similar word yeah yeah the um yeah I think and I think that’s another thing about those the European boys is you can’t teach heart yeah yeah and they just had it in absolute buckets yeah and I know they were uh knackered on the Sunday but they’d earned the right yeah to have a bit of an off day if that makes sense I wonder if they got a little bit complacent on the Sunday you know yeah I think if you can compare it to uh other sports though America had nothing to lose yeah yeah so you can just go all out balls to the wall I was gonna say the team talk for Keegan on that it’s pretty simple yeah it was so simple yeah didn’t have to think much it was just like just go out and just try and battle them that’s the thing go out and um make up for it yeah yeah go and show them who you are I think they were always gonna win that last session but I didn’t think it was gonna be yeah that close you know 1 86 playing 1 98 no idea where the wind is cause the screen record is in the way I’m gonna hit a six and see what happens yeah touch fin needs to go go go have a good out bunker you alright there just don’t leave it in the bunker that’s no that that was one of the worst things about the the American fans every single one of them would shout get in the bunker yeah there’s not a lot of um there’s no creativity there’s not a lot of yeah ingenuity with it no I think what was it Justin said they needed to give him give them something to cheer for rather than cheer against and I think they just didn’t have that for the first couple of days I wonder if it would have been different if it was close whether they’d get so personal and yeah no I think I think it’s mad yeah 95 yards Rory said it as well it was if it was sit spin yeah not bad yeah if um you don’t mind if you’re cheering for your own team and reactively rooting against her of course they’re going to yeah of course but it seemed like they cared more about rooting against Rory and the Europeans yeah yeah they were so engrossed in that rather than just so we didn’t see a lot like a lot of the course and like we were trying to stay closer to the bar than anything yeah but like there was so much more cheering against than there was for yeah and yeah I just didn’t quite grasp that to be honest yeah that’s good yeah nice two up two up I will say you are a scratch golfer and I am I am an 8 handicap I’m not giving you no shots just because I got home advantage home advantage ha ha ha ha ha ha um 4 20 nine yeah where we looking then those bunkers on the right should be carriable yeah easy yeah two 2:30 to carry yeah alright we’ll take that line on then I think what was the coverage like in the UK cause there was a lot of complaint was it really really good there was a lot of complaints about in the Americans yeah yeah huge I saw that on Twitter a lot couldn’t knock it sky really good fast little pull yeah soft yeah contours sound sick oh yeah that’ll do do you see um that um person gets sacked on this Sunday morning the chanter yeah yeah I think she was there all week yeah and um oh there was one moment on the yeah we were in grandstand so on the Friday where the matches were all basically dead yeah and she came out and um this I think this is how like out of touch she was with the whole situation she came out and she was asking the crowd to get behind the players when they come up to the 18th green mm hmm when they’re playing the 18th hole right and there wasn’t a single match that was gonna make the 18th hole so she didn’t have a clue what was going on so I think uh ha ha ha really out of touch basically and then chat the Sunday morning antics ridiculous great strike a little high of the face but we’re alright there safely in the net that’s huge big wall might be over you there that’s a big drive that good drive that’s not alright alright carry two carry two 70 nearly 70 um I think that’s like you know symptomatic of the whole thing though like in terms of um everything was like against Europe instead of just getting behind their boys um I don’t know I didn’t give them much to cheer for but yeah I just it’s just a weird tactic and and they just they just seem so out of touch with it and the whole thing about well it’s New York what do you expect it’s something a bit of decency a bit of decency yeah good yeah good point queen that’s alright sit sit sit I thought New York was class yeah have you been there before no never it was really good I think like where we stayed on Fifth Avenue was class yeah like yeah I loved it Fifth Avenue I think I know that it’s a big avenue yeah but my old uh work used to have an office alright yeah for me New York’s one of them places that it just seems really busy all the time yeah I’m more of a I’ve spent a lot of time in like the south in America yeah and I think it is that definite sort of well New York and it’s rude and it’s yeah excuse me just because I have been spent a lot of time down south yeah and everyone’s so polite yeah it’s Sir Mum everyone’s willing to help you um and I just don’t know if it’s a if it’s a thing do you know what I mean where people I thought I thought everyone was sound there yeah um but then at at the same time we’re staying in like a decent hotel yeah you know like the staff are always gonna be kind yeah like the hotel we were in like we’re at the bar on the Thursday night I turn around pink was behind me ha ha ha it was nuts I was like I turn around I didn’t know what to say but she looks a little stressed trying to get like water for a son or something so I didn’t get a picture try to get a video one of the boys did but like yeah so the area where we were at was Class Broadway was like right there yeah but like the bagels class food whenever you want the pizzas unbelievable no I think you gotta stay in a decent place cause like even the boys we were with like they’ve been before and they were like last time they went was for UFC and I don’t think they stayed up there mm hmm and I think they they didn’t think it was that good but they loved it this time around so yeah I thought New York was decent right 9 iron uh what’s this plane hundred and fifty one mm hmm oh it’s left that is so far left it’s cut in it’s cut in sit sit oh ah get on the green that’s annoying just a pull cold pull what was your shot of the day direct a shot of the weekend John Rome I was literally just gonna say cause of this chip but this chip isn’t as hard as his but I don’t think it’s even a like it’s one of them I was saying it’s a golfer’s golf shot yeah you watch on the telly it’s class but if you’re not a golfer um yeah good and you just watch out you think oh yeah decent yeah like you know but it’s one of them shots but if you are a golfer you it’s just outrageous there was one shot on Friday that John Ram again that he hit that it was out some sort of reeds I think he was trying to get a read like a a ruling on it yeah yeah because he thought it might have been embedded but it was in this on awful grass and yeah right at the bottom and he hit the shot and he got it inside Bryson I think it was and like I just thought that was the most amazing shot I’ve ever seen I think he was probably it’s between Rome and Justin Rose not Tommy Tommy yeah but I don’t know I just think I I love Tommy yeah yeah I love him but I don’t know I just think um just so about John Ramon that sort of that fire that he had and yeah the aggression and he choosing to hit the first tee shot the entire thing is yeah it’s a it’s just a ballsy move yeah and he just showed that he had that heart um I just thought he was magic he played incredible honestly yeah there we go it’s going right I don’t think there was any letdowns in the European team I think obviously Sunday wasn’t a good day no um Bobby Bobby Mac Bobby Mac was I think Shane didn’t play particularly well yeah OK if I’m being honest um he got his moment um I think looking back he probably would have preferred to have played a bit better especially it’s just a couple of times where you know he could have killed broke their hearts a little bit and he just yeah let up but yeah I think all in all just an outrageous performance away from home yeah especially even like Hoyegaard for his first yeah Ryder Cup um away from home kind of struggled a little bit but then on the Sundays just they’re just they’re just everyone do you know what I mean yeah just the team performance and I think that’s the difference between us and America yeah they did work a lot better as a as a team didn’t they yeah I’ve got a bit more aggressive here than you oh and I flushed it pretty sure huh oh yeah shot the day that hahaha that’s class right centre strike was on hahaha get on the centre get down that that’s class yeah I found a little something with the uh driver since my last um like you called it Adam Keo swing yeah Keo’s magic yeah uh one 73 five yards down from one 68 it’s a long way back basically what’s it say top left what’s it say top left how far away I am it’s like 91 yards ha ha yeah let’s oh we need a ball yeah Bos never used the only thing about this auto putt stuff is that I’d have definitely two putted that yeah he says 19 feet yeah difficult I it’s got um it’s selected a putter for you so you can put it if you want or join or I can um change it to a oh OK yeah let’s put I haven’t tried putting on this so you need to set the ball back a couple of feet okay if this goes wrong it’s your fault yeah so what back here yeah it’s so sensitive when it’s been a pattern as well but yeah somewhere around there hope it’s 19 feet don’t even know what that looks like no get something I don’t know how it gave I’m three down you again take put her off this as well yeah yeah so I’m in the middle of setting up or finishing off the renovations in here and I’m hoping the putting’s gonna be a little bit better but yeah yeah what we looking at here then just what part 5 hole seven 2:52 to carry that bunker let’s try no idea where the wind is to do nine holes and then uh I don’t think we I haven’t got enough batteries for a yeah it’s fine yeah or until I get it back yeah I’ll do that ha ha yeah till you win yeah looks like a pretty severe dog leg right off the yeah you know stand on the tee sit I think I’m like north for 6 fair you haven’t a fair way of it oh dear yeah look where the banner is like the so that 5 2 4 on the right hand side of the screen that’s where the flag is yeah so it’s like it’s a long way yeah I don’t get it alright oh it’s going right no it’s not is it go go go bounce left first I think I’ll be alright yeah hopefully out of the bin again for me that’s me in it yeah out of the bin yeah that’s you uh two 75 I do not have that in my locker I haven’t tried driver of the deck and so yeah I was scared of it just try and get it down there yeah I’ll see myself pitch shot plays a 3 0 I’ll tell you what that’s done better cross they’ve done right there yeah right two got to do some air guaranteed birdie there for me too yeah 5 Woods should get on the front roll up there the issue is the greens are soft aren’t they yes come on in big shot it’s left again cut great strike sit cool oh I tell you how to do it it was the right club wasn’t it fantastic that me oh no it’s you ha ha ha ha it’s human I was human absolutely a human so a 54 degree try and run it I don’t know if you can run it to be honest I think it’s just too soft well you think it’s just gonna spin yeah try and get in my head go ha ha ha ha ha good birdie don’t have to hit fairways to make birdies don’t have to mate no 11 yards little John Ram chip in here fight it out Daniel oh I was well after that was good birdie mate finally I’m ready you’re 3 under to be fair ha ha uh one 62 yeah one 78 yards down wind the downhill no idea where the wind is I’ve got 8 iron did anyone go in that water yes uh hoygard
