I review the Wilson Staff Model golf ball in this video! I play a few holes with the ball, hit some short shots, and do some indoor testing. How will the ball perform? This is a good one! I hope you enjoy!

Hey guys, Mr. Short hitter here. Look like a short hitter to me. I went to Walmart and I got a little special on these Wilson Staff Tour golf balls. I do know they make the X model which I believe is for a little faster club head speeds. It’s been a while since I tested out a Wilson golf ball. I wanted to actually review the Wilson facilities being a Chicago company, but my efforts were to no avail. One thing I’ll say about Wilson, especially this tour golf ball, they really know how to make a classy looking golf ball. I mean, that logo looks really nice on there. Even the alignment aid. I like the black with the white lettering there. It just looks like a really premium solid golf ball. Really sharp. It’s probably about the best looking golf ball logo wise and lettering. Just everything about this golf ball is is really classy. 174 with the slope. And the conditions are getting a little firm, but we have 160 to carry the water. So, think I can go with the five hybrid here. And we have a tree branch there that’s probably going to knock the ball down if I hit a five hybrid. But I felt a little bit of wind that would make me think, what are you thinking hitting a five hybrid? So, we will go four hybrid here. [Music] Miss right isn’t bad. The pin is pretty much in the center. So, I’ll aim right at that. [Music] Kind of little squirrely out to the right. Got a pretty decent carry out of it. If I hit five hybrid, would have been flirting with hitting that in the water because I didn’t hit that very good. Carried pretty close to where it is. Hit a 54. Lay it somewhere in this area and roll it to the hole. Plan at least. Little shorter my marked. A little shorter. The hole. Definitely on the firm side. Maybe medium firm I would call it [Music] right behind the hole. A little pulley there, guys. All right, so we had two 89 back there. Got 69 yards. So 220 with a big old pool there. 69 will hit a little 54 degree. [Music] That ball kicked directly left. Let’s try to land this couple paces on the green there. [Music] No, I don’t think we did it, guys. Right on the corner here of this little tree. But I think, well, big tree. Might be able to hit something between the branches here, maybe. 90 yards. Little 50° wedge kind of towards the right side of these trees here. 54 would definitely go too high. Have to land it short of the pin cuz it’s going to run. Just pulled it. It’s about pin high, though. It would be nice if I was swinging a little better today to get a real good look at it. But this is where we are. Left to right. [Music] [Music] Short par4. Or if we hit a good drive here down the hill, we should be able to get pretty close. 250 with the slope. Aim this right at the middle of that green. [Music] All right, that was more like it. Felt good. Coming down on the line right at the flag stick through October 10th. Golf Ball Planet is celebrating an early Columbus Day sale. Get 15% off sitewide with the code Columbus 2025. Just going to play a 54. I will play this one back in the stance here. Pretty good lie. [Music] I almost ended up where I should have landed this ball. Oh boy. [Music] [Music] I can see the mid firm. It’s not super hard. [Music] Have to get it up to heel. [Music] A little harder there. Little too hard. [Music] It’s about right from 50 yards. The Wilson staff matched the Prov1 in launch, had 300 RPM more spin, the descent the same, and peak height the same. With the seven iron, the Wilson staff had 1 mph more ball speed, launched 4° higher, spin about 200 RPM less, the descent the same, peak height the same, carry three yards longer, and total three yards longer than the Prov1. With the driver, the Wilson staff had almost two mph more ball speed, launched one degree higher, spin about 150 RPM less, the descent about one degree steeper, peak height 2 yards higher, carry 5 yards longer, and total four yards longer. So guys, although I’m a little unhappy that Wilson won’t let me to their facilities to do a full review for you guys, I have to admit they make a pretty darn good tour golf ball. And this may be the one ball that makes me rethink the ball that I currently play. I’m going to play a little bit more with this golf ball, but it is a pretty awesome golf ball. I want to thank Eduardo Salgado and Tom Russell for their most recent purchase at Golfball Planet. And right now you can get GradeA Wilson staff for $32.99 at Golfball Planet. If you enjoyed the video, like, comment, subscribe. Until next time, Mr. Shore hitter out. Need to find my way in.

  1. I gave Golf Ball Planet another try today and found a ball I wanted to try and with your discount it was a really good deal. On course videos are my favorite when you combine it with a product test.

  2. WIlson Zip! I have Prov1x and Bridgestone tour bx (which I never play) but for my actual handicap, the Zip is all I need. Soft around the greens, pretty good distances, and ok if I loose one! Idk why I don't hear more of Wilson as a brand? Sleeper imo

  3. Watched a video earlier today from @HITGolfReviews where he was looking for a ball that would be less than the Titleist Pro V1s that he normally used. He ended up with the Titleist TRUFEEL balls for half the price. Not sure if you've tried those, but they seemed to do pretty well for a player with a slower ball speed and still worked great for a modest level player.

  4. Very nice man. Just, getting to the point where can't watch you putt. Ability or in-ability to read short putts does not reflect your high level of skill and it drives me crazy. Anytime there is a Mr, Short hitter video titled, "can I beat so and so," the answer is usually no & always for the same reason. You can't make short putts consistently. Please, make a serious effort to learn better green reading so that your putting can reflect your skill level. Thank-you

  5. Senior, 72 y/o, slow swing speed. I play the Wilson Duo Soft and find them the best for my game. Good distance and soft enough around the greens. Enjoyed the video MSH.

  6. I only play Wilson golf balls, unless i find a TP5 in the weeds. The Boost, Triad and Staff Model are incredible. Recently picked up a couple boxes of Duo Softs at a discount, so i figured i could use those for when it's cold and the ball won't compress normally.

  7. Thanks for sharing MSH. I played the Staff Model for most of this season. I really enjoyed it. Playing the Staff Model X currently. It's a little firmer but spins more around the green. They are both great balls. Very underrated!

  8. Enjoyed the video as always. For the time being I think I'm stuck on the "mint" quality TP5's from Golfball Planet with your discount. They're working out so well I honestly don't know why I'd go back to buying new balls!

  9. What would you say are the major differences between this and the Z Star? I also play the Z Star a lot, but I’ve also been trying out the Triad and think it’s pretty great as well.

  10. Played 9 yesterday with Bridgestone XS. A little disappointing. Good spin, putting but the weather was slight rain, 57 degrees in a NW 10-15 Pacific wind. Usual around here. Only one on the course so I could hit some approach and tee shots. BS way short.

Broke out a Wilson Tri and Vice pro air.
Tri ad is a fantastic ball! Pro Air a bit higher flight. 2 birdies off 2 balls on the same hole. BS again short.

  11. Everything is feel with golf balls. These feel a little clicky and lite. I like a little more of a bouncy soft feel.
