The PGA TOUR has just five events left in the FedExCup Fall – and three of them are outside of the United States starting this week with a stop in Japan. The Baycurrent Classic heads to a new golf course for 2025, Yokohama Country Club. It’s as important a time as any for those outside of the top 100 in the FedExCup Fall standings to earn valuable points in order to lock up full status for 2026. Past champion Collin Morikawa is back in action as he looks to find the winner’s circle for the first time since this tournament in 2023. Xander Schauffele returns to the PGA TOUR for the first time since the BMW Championship – and for the first time since becoming a father. The nine-time PGA TOUR winner has two top 10s in his last four starts without a win this season. Other names to look for include Hideki Matsuyama, Tony Finau, and Max Homa.

some of the early first round headlines or highlights and it’s Adam Scott had just buried the first and another one on the second. Yeah, he fights this so well into the wind. I mean just a few feet for Adam Scott. Birdie Birdie on one and two same group. Manu Lee a birdie chance of his own. Yeah, they slowed these greens down a little bit with this incoming win, but still rolling so true end over end. Beautiful putt. Midwe to red figures. Bo Hustler on the ninth to go out in three under par. Bo had a chance to win this tournament a couple years back. Obviously likes being over here late in the season. Xander Schoffley started his day off the tent to get to even par. Yeah, nice putt there on the 15th. The back nine little bit more difficult to score than the front side. The pace setter so far, Nikolai Hoygard. Yeah, this was beautiful at the ninth using this little ridge in the middle of the green to kick it down towards the hole. He’d make that Hygard birdies his first nine holes. Clean card head to the backside. So venue for him and the rest of the field as he tries to go back to back this for birdie. brushes it in. Nicely done at Chevia to one under his second birdie the first six holes. Back to the opening hole for the course, but for Xander Schoffley, it’ll be his 10th of the day. He’s just made the turn to the front side over par. Yeah, this pin way in the back right, but you can attack it from the fairway. That’s nicely done. Xander Schoffley usually so good from this distance. What a pure roll. Ball rolling end over end into the bottom of the cup. 2025. Bud Collie has been playing so well this season at three under par. This the jump up to four and Ty Hustler. You bet. Yeah. And I think every single player on tour cheering for Bud Col. I mean, he’s been through so much and it really is good to see him playing nice golf again. Yeah. Sitting okay. The problem he’s just so far below the green with nothing to work with. See wide open. Oh wow. And that’s one way to stop it right there. Fortunate kiss has this for birdie at 13. We saw the t-shot long of the green. And is it going to be another one? It is. So he’s really going well today on the 14th. What a year he’s had on the Japan Golf Tour. Winner twice this year including the Japan Players Championship. among those who made it off the money list and able to make that first first birdie. Yeah. On the hardest hole in the golf course today, the 14th. That’s a bonus there. Just needs to get up. Stay right there. Beautiful shot. Stones it. So, the second birdie of the day. Stay there. Well done. [Applause] Told you could chip it in. Bounce back a little bit. Two over pass so far. Just got to be cautious of not going long. Well, right below the hole. Well done. Well done. And Grayson over on the other side of the hole from where Hustler was. Still missed the fairway. That’s really good. Wow. to a really good start out in 32, but then lost his T-shot. He had 11 made double bogey and that’s his first birdie since that birdie at the ninth to take him out in 32. So, still battling away. Tack on 10. We’re up to the 16th. Nikolai Hoygard. Some stress on his short game. He chose to fly it up on top there. Hello take. Yeah, this is the drivable par four. Really good win for a lefty because you can just kind of cut it back up against that down off the left wind. Landed a little bit softer. Oh yeah, that’s going to leave him a good chance for an eagle. And this for a birdie. Yeah, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in the mix here over the weekend. Alex Narrenation. Let’s go to the 16th. How hot has Garrick Heggo been recently? Bottoms that one out. Now Morau from the bunker. So awkward. 35 yd bunker shot. Hard to get it all the way back there. He was actually concerned that if it didn’t get deep enough in the green, it would have come back down that slope. So, nicely done. That’s right. That would be an eagle in our world. This is a birdie here for Moraua. That would not be sensible with these breezes. Now, Matsyama, time to show off here. Yeah, just has had a little difficulty. Oh, he’s walking it in. Nice. Gets him under power on the Hoygard brother leaderboard. Rasmus five shots behind Nikolai who’s already carted that three under 68. It’s to get one shot closer on 14. This is Alex Molly for Bird to get to two under par within two of the lead. made some good golf early in the season, struggled a little bit later. Kadra has a long birdie putt. Is he going to jar it? Oh yes, take that one. Cana second to 17. wind just gets accentuated. Looks worse than it probably felt. No, I had to get to three under. Yeah, that’ll be uh popular in the media. you for around in the 60s on the money. Kevin, you a two under 69 down there earlier today. So, here’s the gala second at the ninth here in a sponsors invite. And if that just gets that ridge that Graeme was talking about earlier in the broadcast, it’s going to get really good. [Applause] So he’ll have a chance to join that group. Now Tala coming into the week a long way down on the FedEx Cup points list. Oh, and that gets within him within one of the lead and a round of 68 for Sahit Gala. How to get one back on 18. How good is that? And this is where Morau’s ball finished at the 17th. His second settle. Good chance for a birdie for Morau. Time to make one. Yeah, only four back. the ninth. We’ve seen so many people putting from here. You don’t want to hit it long here at the ninth. Wow, what a finish. This man can roll it when he starts feeling it. Been a really good year for Brian Campbell. Remember, he had difficult finishing hole. Nico Avaria driving it in there. His second. Whoa. Oh, hello. You got to be kidding me. What a shot. If you’re the defending champ, you get breaks like that [Applause] and the little points and thank you to the grand stand. It was a tough day out there. Yeah, it really was. When you got four under in the top spot, big group of players, three under including Rico Hoey, who’s still out on the course right now. One hole to go in his first round. Round two coverage 11:00 p.m. Eastern time on Golf Channel, 8:00 p.m. out on the West Coast. Definitely not an American crowd 😅😂
I live 10 minutes away from this golf course. Yokohama is a wonderful city, so I encourage everyone to come and visit.
I wonder what it would be like to play a professional course. Looks really nice out there and fun.
