Missy thanks for taking the time uh to talk to me uh we at the Jo open this week tell me a bit about your game at the moment um thank you Mike um my game I’ve been playing well recently uh since last year um I even won The Big Easy um now we J open um my more or less like my last tournament of the season um I’m just looking forward to the tournament but the a bit of a history behind J I started playing JC when I was still an amateur um throughout this the years that I played JC open I always been improving and improving the last two season uh I missed the cut by one and hopefully this year things can change and finish higher tell me a bit about your story where did you grow up and what how be when you got into the game uh muzi was born in limo um in 1989 then moved to joelberg uh when I was 12 years old then from there I started I started playing golf when I was 13 then from there I just took the game very serious then 2003 um President’s Cup at uh fan Cod I got an invite because I was under the program uh sdbd under Mr ret and then I got an invite there I watch tiger that was the first time I saw tiger I watched vjc I was angry when vjc beat Tiger but I was happy because he’s International and USA but after that I I started taking golf like seriously in 2005 when I got selected to play the sa games that’s when I started playing golf and from there I just kept on grinding then in 2010 I got a scholarship to go and attend the Gary Player School of Champions at hoodman I was there for 3 years and I did well I think I achieved more as an amate than as a pro so far and with that gave me a confident as well to say I can do it on the highest level when then 2013 I turned Pro um first year I had only one top 10 made few cards but I lost my card I went back to to to school I got my card then I got injured I was out for almost 2 years then I came back 20 and towards the end of 2016 then I grind myself up there again then 2018 I won The Big Easy at Cawa then I just kept on grinding and but at the time I was playing well after won the Big E I was playing well but the backup was not there so the love of the game started fading away slowly we started fading away but um I spoke to other people then 2020 I came back I won the Q school and after winning the Q school I started grinding but the backup and Co hit as well and it aect co affected everybody so yeah then I for the last two years I’ve been just grinding myself and the Love of the Game is coming back but it’s not there yet but I’m I’m happy with the progress playing well last year I just won The Big Easy in December at Soo Hometown Home Country Home golf course I want The Big Easy and since then I’ve been playing so well I’m happy with my game I’m happy where I am and hopefully this week can just do better than what I’ve been doing for the last few years what what would you be happy with this week I’ll be happy to finish to finish the tournament but specifically even if I finish top 20 I’ll be happy because it’s it’s it’s progress you know it’s I’m just loving the progress I’m happy with what I’m doing but if I can finish top 20 it’ll be happy yeah okay and uh what will like the Wen of Dylan last week do for inspiring like a new generation of people of color in South Africa yeah um if you can check since last year Kenan played well at uh afred uh Ur played well he won U uh Dyan he finished well at macius and this year he won the sa open um I think he just made broke the record up he the first black man to win sa open after Pap Guam and papam I think he won the last time he won was 1963 I think what Dylan did it gives a lot of play of color and motivation say if he can do it we can also do it because honestly we all on that level we all on that level but um I was happy for him he did well for for his team as well and that’s a motivational to all player of college and we’ve seen it in other sports like the spring box they’ve done transformation really well because it’s not it’s no longer like a a white dominated uh springb Team know accessing the true all the talent in the in the country what do you think we have to change in South Africa to get all the talent that’s out there specifically black African Talent playing golf uh the government have been doing well we just need to give they just need to give more opportunities to young black not select like everyone when you see a potential give it opportunity and let them fail while you have given them an opportunity and not fail because there’s no opportunity but um the transformation on Cricket it’s it’s getting better springb it’s getting better golf it’s getting better slowly but it’s getting better just need to give all the potential and opportunity Co and just last question coming into your Peak years now you’re still a young man what what are your goals your long-term goals as a professional golfer everyone who’s playing here the the goal is to on the highest level is to play the major and this week Jo if you win you’ve got an opportunity to go and play the open you got to get your card your DP World toour card so there are lot of opportunities this week but um my term my long-term goal if I can win at least few tournaments on the sunshine to but I want to play on the PGA to the highest level on this game I want to play with the best players and the world thank you best luck for this week and for the rest of the season [Music]
