DESTIN, Fla. – The No. 11 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men’s golf team is competing in the three-round Golfweek Invitational this week. Entering day two in 18th place after shooting +19 as a team on Sunday, the Gusties moved up to 16th out of the field of 24 teams with a second-round score of +12 on Monday.

“We got off to a great start today, exactly how he wanted to,” said Gustavus head coach Scott Moe. “Then we got towards the end of our first nine holes and hit a snag and didn’t truly recover. We need to play the golf course. The way is designed and not how we want to play it. There are some wide landing areas that we are not hitting right now because we are hitting the wrong shot off the tee box, we will do a better job tomorrow and looking forward to our final round of the fall season.”

Chris Gutuza led the Gusties in the second round, shooting +1 on Monday to bring his tournament score to +8. Jimmy Abdo followed one stroke back at +2 in round two, moving to a tie for 17th overall at +3 through both rounds. Blake Forrest (+4), Aradheea Gawade (+5), and Wyatt Carlson (+6) rounded out the second-round scores for Gustavus.

Up next for the Gusties is the final round of the Golfweek Invite on Tuesday, October 14.
